मण्डूकस्थां द्विभुजां स्योना पृथिवीति चार्चयेत्
One should worship the earth as seated upon a frog, two-armed, and named Syona.
उत्पलं दक्षिणे हस्ते पद्मस्थं पीतवाससम्
A blue lotus in the right hand, seated upon a lotus, wearing yellow garments.
स्वस्थां सरस्वतीं ध्यायेद्वरदाभयदायिनीम्
One should meditate upon Sarasvati, tranquil, bestowing boons and granting fearlessness.
यामधा इति मन्त्रेण पूजयेत्सितचंदनैः
With the mantra 'Yāmadhā', one should worship with white sandalwood.
स्थापयेद्वामदिग्भागे कुंदपुष्पैः प्रपूजयेत्
One should place her in the western direction and worship with jasmine flowers.
अग्न्यादिषु च कोणेषु बहिर्भूतान्समाचरेत्
At the corners, such as those of fire, one should arrange the external spirits.
निर्णासाश्चैव ते सर्वे रौद्रा विकृतरूपिणः
All of them are without noses, fierce, and of distorted forms.
पूरयेत्कलशे तत्र सुवर्णादिविनिर्मितम् 2.2.19.
One should fill the vessel there, made of gold and other materials.
बृहत्पर्व प्रमाणेन राजतस्य च दुर्लभम्
Of large size, according to measure, and silver is difficult to obtain.
प्रौष्ठीमत्स्यं तथा कुर्यात्कुलीरं ताम्रनिर्मितम्
One should make a fish of the prauṣṭhī type, and a turtle made of copper.
तथा मानेन मण्डूकं तां भूमिं मुनिसत्तमाः
And likewise, according to measure, a frog; O best of sages, for that earth.
अंगुलत्रयदीर्घं च यथा तस्याकृतिर्भवेत्
It should be three fingers long, as its form requires.
यावकैश्च विशेषेण बहुमंत्रविशारदान्
Especially with barley, for those skilled in many mantras.
सासनौ पश्चिमे चाथ उत्तरेऽथर्वणौ स्मृतौ
With a seat in the west, and in the north, the Atharvan seat is remembered.
स्थापयित्वा पृथक्सूत्रे सर्पं च मातरुद्दीपमेव च
Having placed separately with a thread, a serpent and the lamp of the Mother.
जयाग्रतः पुरुषसूक्तमद्भ्यः संभूतमेव च
In front of Jaya, the Purusha Sukta, and that which arises from the waters.
यज्जाग्रतश्चाग्नेश्च विष्णोरराटमेव च
That which is of Agni while awake, and likewise of Viṣṇu, and also of the king.

In the Śukarahasya Upaniṣad, the finger arrangements are as follows: For the five-limbed Rudra, Puṣpadanta is the seer, Gāyatrī is the meter, 'Veda aham' is the seed, Śrī is the power, the three-footed one is above, the Purusha's foot again became manifest here. 'Te' is the energy, 'Namaste Rudra' is the leader, Paramarudra is the deity, and the application is for supreme praise. 'Tryambakam'—with the thumbs, salutation; 'Veda aham'—with the middle fingers, vaṣaṭ; 'Yavāgūṃ soma'—with the little fingers, vauṣaṭ; 'Yajjāgrata'—for the heart, salutation; 'Adbhyaḥ saṃbhūta'—for the crown, vaṣaṭ; 'Namaste Rudra'—for the three eyes, vauṣaṭ; in the four directions, the offering of choṭikā. When the homa is performed, one should also recite other hymns.
रात्रिसूक्तं च रौद्रं च पावमानं समुज्ज्वलम्
The Night Hymn, the Raudra hymn, and the shining Pavamāna hymn.
शाक्तं रौद्रं च सौम्यं च कूष्माण्डं जातवेदसम्
The Śākta, Raudra, and Saumya hymns, the Kūṣmāṇḍa, and the Jātavedas.
वैराजं पौरुषं सूक्तं सौवर्णं रुद्रसंहिताम्
The Vairāja, Pauruṣa hymn, the Sauvarṇa, and the Rudrasaṃhitā.
वामदेव्यं बृहत्साम तथा चैव रथंतरम्
The Vāmadevya, the Bṛhatsāman, and likewise the Rathaṃtara.
गायंतं ब्राह्मणा ये च पूर्वादिद्वारदेशतः
The Brāhmaṇas who sing, as well as those from the eastern and other gates.
रुद्राध्यायं च पञ्चांगं रौद्र इत्यभिधीयते
The Rudra chapter with five limbs is called the Raudra.
ईशावेत्यादि स्वांगं च कौष्मांडं दशमं स्मृतम्
Beginning with 'Īśā', its own limb, and the Kauṣmāṇḍa is remembered as the tenth.
षोडशं तु विभ्राड् वृहत्सौरं सूक्तं प्रकीर्तितम्
The sixteenth is the brilliant Bṛhatsaura hymn, so it is proclaimed.
रात्रिसूक्तं हि यज्वाग्ने रक्षोघ्नं शैवसूक्तकम्
The Night Hymn, indeed, is for the sacrificer Agni, destructive of demons, and is a Śaiva hymn.
पवमानं तु तद्विद्धि पावमानं तु षोडश तदर्द्धार्द्धं च आरामे कूपे त्वेकऋचं जपेत् ।। 2.2.19.
Know the Pavamāna as such; the Pavamāna is the sixteenth. Half of that, or a single verse, should be recited in a garden or at a well.
स्वगृह्योक्तविधानेन प्रतिकुण्डेषु होमयेत्
According to the procedure stated in one's own Gṛhya-sūtra, one should offer oblations in each fire-pit.
प्रज्वाल्याग्निं च विधिवद्धोमं कुर्यादनन्तरम्
Having properly kindled the fire, one should then perform the homa according to the rules.
