योगस्थापनदेवप्रतिष्ठापनवर्णनम् देवादिसंस्थापनमा हुरत्र यावन्न सुप्तो मधुसूदनश्च
Description of the establishment of yoga, deities, and installation: Here, the establishment of deities and others is taught, as long as Madhusudana has not slept.
वारे भृगोर्देवगुरोर्बुधस्य सोमस्य सर्वाः शुभदा भवंति
On the days of Bhrigu, the preceptor of the gods, Mercury, and Soma, all are auspicious.
शुद्धा द्वितीया च तथा तृतीया त्रयोदशी चापि तथैव विप्राः
The second, third, and thirteenth lunar days are also pure, O Brahmins.
प्राणप्रतिष्ठा च जलाशयादेरेताः प्रशस्तास्तिथयो भवंति
For the installation of life in a reservoir and the like, these are the praised dates.
षडशीतिलोकाप्ययनद्वयेन युगादिके पुण्यादिने शुभे च
On the eighty-sixth day, at the beginning of a yuga, or on a holy and auspicious day.
सुचारु ईषत्प्रवणे च देशे सुवर्तुलः षोडशहस्तमंडपः
In a beautiful place, slightly sloping, a pavilion sixteen hands in diameter and perfectly round should be constructed.
पूर्वादिद्वारेषु चतुष्टयेषु प्लक्षादिभिस्तोरणकैः सुरेशः
At the four main entrances, the lord of the gods should place arches made from Plaksha and other trees.
ऊर्ध्वे च हस्तानमितानि यानि विचित्रमाल्यांबरभूषितानि
Above, there should be hands raised, adorned with varied garlands, garments, and ornaments.
सर्वत्र यागेपि हि मंडपस्य कार्या ध्वजा दिक्षु विदिक्षु शुभ्राः
In every sacrifice, flags should be placed around the pavilion, shining in all directions and intermediate directions.
ध्वजाश्च यस्मिन्दशहस्तसम्मितास्तस्मिन्पताका अपि पञ्चहस्ताः 2.2.18.
The flags should be ten hands in length, and the pennants upon them should be five hands long.
द्वारे च तस्मिंश्च निरूपिता वा रंभा सुपुष्पा सुखशाड्वलाश्च
At the entrance, there should be planted Rambha trees with abundant flowers and pleasant green grass.
मुंजोद्भवैर्बर्हिसमुद्भवैर्वा सुरंजितश्चेत्त्रितपद्मपल्लवैः
The area should be decorated with shoots from Munja grass, Darbha grass, and lotus leaves arranged in three rows.
वेदिस्तथा मंडप मध्यभागे कार्या च कोणेस्थितुषादिहीना
The altar should be constructed in the center of the pavilion, without any defects at the corners.
वेद्यां परित्यज्य दशांगुलानि ऐशान्यत स्त्रीणि तथा पराणि
Leaving aside ten finger-widths from the altar, three should be towards the northeast and likewise towards the opposite side.
प्रासादे च तडागे च महारामे तथैव च
In a palace, in a pond, and likewise in a great garden,
कुंडं चापि प्रकुर्वीत यथाभ्यन्तरमेखलम्
One should also construct a fire pit, with an inner boundary as prescribed.
कुंडानि कुर्यान्नव कुंडपक्षे वेद्यास्तथोच्चैरविदिक्षु चैव। सर्वाणि सर्वत्र च मेखलानि षडस्रपंचास्रसमेखलानि
One should make nine fire pits on each side of the altar, elevated and in all directions; all the boundaries everywhere should be six-sided or five-sided.
अष्टास्रजान्यब्जत्रिकोणकानि तथार्द्धचन्द्रं चतुरस्रकं च
There should be eight-sided, lotus-shaped, triangular, half-moon, and four-sided forms.
माल्याम्बराच्छादितपूर्णपाथाः सवृत्तपत्रश्च सुवर्णगर्भः
The vessels should be covered with garlands and cloth, filled, with round leaves, and containing gold within.
देवग्रहपूजाविधानवर्णनम् यजमानस्तथा नित्यं कर्म कृत्वा यथाविधि
The procedure for worship of gods and planets is described here. The sacrificer, after performing daily duties as prescribed,
पंच देवान्नमस्कृत्य तथा यज्ञेश्वरं हरिम्
Should bow to the five gods and to Hari, the lord of sacrifice.
एतस्मिन्पुण्यदेशे तु फलं गोत्रश्च वै यमः
In this sacred place, the fruit and the lineage are determined by Yama.
यथायथा स्वतन्त्रोक्तं पुण्या रण्याभिधायकम्
As stated independently, the merit is declared according to the sacred texts.
यथायथा च कल्पोक्तं यथाकुण्डं विधानतः
And as prescribed in the Kalpa texts, according to the fire pit and the procedure.
जलाशयप्रतिष्ठां च करिष्ये विधिवद्द्विजाः
O twice-born, I shall establish a reservoir of water in accordance with the prescribed rites.
मातृयागं पुरस्कृत्य वृद्धिश्राद्धं समापयेत्
Having performed the offering to the Mothers, one should complete the ancestral rite for increase.
भेर्यादिघोषेण सुमंगलेन पद्यं लिखेदत्र सषोडशाक्षरम्
With auspicious sounds of drums and the like, one should inscribe a verse here of sixteen syllables.
ब्रह्मेशान्वरयेत्सर्वानाचार्यं तु विशेषतः
He should invite all the Brahmins and especially the teacher.
नानारत्नैश्च वस्त्रैश्च आचार्यं वरयेद्बुधः 2.2.19.
A wise man should honor the teacher with various jewels and garments.
यथामानं यथाशक्ति यथाभिवृणुयाद्बुधः
According to his means, ability, and desire, the wise man should make selections.
