अवशिष्टैः पदैः कुर्यात्सद्भिस्तंत्राणि मन्त्रवित्
With the remaining spaces, the knower of mantras should make the proper patterns with good threads.
पूर्वोक्तमण्डले विद्वन्धरणीसदनं बहिः
Outside the previously mentioned circle, the learned should establish the earth-altar.
गुलालीतूर्यवर्णेन महामत्त इति स्मृतः
With the color of red powder and the sound of instruments, it is known as the great intoxicated one.
एतद्धि सर्वतोभद्रं राशियुक्तमतः परम् 2.2.2.

O best of Brahmins, at the end of the lotus, there is a swastika with a thousand arms.
चिन्तामणिं कुंकुमांशं खातं च हरिवल्लभम्
A wish-fulfilling gem, a portion of saffron, a cavity, and the beloved of Hari.
तद्वद्वृषासनं ज्ञेयं शिखिरूपं शिखिध्वजम्
Likewise, the bull-seat should be known, in the form of a peacock, with a peacock banner.
गारुडं मेरुगर्भं च नीलकण्ठं नराकृतिम्
The Garuda, the womb of Meru, the blue-throated one, and the human form.
अष्टास्रमष्टकोणाद्यं बहिः पद्मवनं कृतम्
Outside, an eight-petaled, eight-angled lotus grove is made.
त्र्यस्रगर्भं पङ्कजं च त्र्यस्रं तत्परिकीर्तितम्
A lotus with a triangular core, that is called the triangle.
महामहामेरुपृष्ठं शतत्रयच्छदैर्वृतम्
The great, great back of Meru, covered with three hundred petals.
दंडिश्रवणसंपन्न ६० माकाशं वसुसंमितम् ।। 2.2.2.
Endowed with a staff and ear-ornaments, resembling the sky, and equal to wealth.
शतविंशाधिकं चैव १२० दलानि तदनन्तरम्
And then, one hundred and twenty petals follow.
शुक्लेन पङ्कजं तत्र पश्चात्कुर्यात्त्रिवेष्टनम्
There, with white, one should make a lotus, and afterwards a triple enclosure.
स्थंडिले कुशहस्ते च पूर्ववद्वेष्टयेत्क्रमात् ।। वसु ८ पञ्चकला १६ पञ्चविंशकं २५ तन्नपत्रकात्
On the ground, with a handful of kuśa grass, arrange as before in order: eight for Vasu, sixteen for Pañcakalā, twenty-five for Pañcaviṃśaka, as indicated by their respective leaves.
चत्वारिंशत्ततः पश्चा ४० दष्टोत्तरशतं १०८ भवेत्
After that, forty, and then one hundred and eight should be used.
विलोमे दलसन्धीनि शाक्ते शैवे तु षट्पुरम्

लवल्याभमथो वक्ष्ये सार्द्धहस्तप्रमाणतः 2.2.2.

One should make it with white color, omitting the yellow color.
पूर्वस्यां दिशि शुक्रस्य पङ्कजं शुभ्रवर्णकम्
In the eastern direction, for Śukra, a lotus of pure white color.
राहोः प्रकल्पयेत्तच्च केतोरपि नियोजयेत्
This should be assigned for Rāhu, and also employed for Ketu.
