कोणे सूत्रद्वयं दद्यान्मध्ये सूत्रद्वयं पुनः
Place two threads at the corners, and again two threads in the middle.
चतुः सूत्रं पातयेच्च पूर्वापरविभागतः
Let four threads be laid out, divided between the east and west.
शतद्वयपदं यावत्षट्पंचाशाधिकं तथा
Continue up to two hundred steps, and then add fifty-six more.
ऊर्ध्वपंक्त्या पदयुगं चाद्ये पदचतुष्टयम् 2.2.2.

पीतेन कर्णिका कार्या चतुर्भागेन मानतः
The center should be made yellow, measured as one fourth.
कर्णिकामूलमारभ्य रेखाः षोडश कल्पयेत्
Starting from the center, sixteen lines should be drawn.
अग्रे पीतं भवेदेवं कृत्वा पंकजवेष्टनम्
At the front, let it be yellow; thus, after making the lotus enclosure.
मध्ये रक्तं भवेत्तच्च एवं षोडशकल्पयेत्
In the middle, let it be red; thus, sixteen should be made.
शुक्लेन पीठगात्राणि पीठकोणे पदत्रये
With white, make the body of the seat, and three steps at the corners of the seat.
शुद्धेन रचयेत्पादौ पुनः पीतादिवर्णकैः
The feet should be made pure, then again with yellow and other colors.
मानं कल्पलतायास्तु द्व्यङ्गुलं परिकीर्तितम्
The measure of the wish-fulfilling creeper is said to be two finger-breadths.
ग्रंथौग्रंथौ पुष्पफले नानावर्णेन भावयेत् 2.2.2.
The knots and the fruits and flowers should be made in various colors.
वैष्णवे गारुडं शस्तं शैवे कीशवृषं लिखेत्
For Vaishnava, Garuda is proper; for Shaiva, the bull of Shiva should be drawn.
शोभां पीतेन रचयेदुपशोभां च पीतकैः
Beauty should be created with yellow, and further embellishment with yellow shades.
शुक्लपीतारुणैः कार्यं मण्डलं स्यान्मनोरमम्
The mandala should be made charming with white, yellow, and red.
सर्वज्ञानमयं शुद्धं धर्मकामार्थदायकम्
It is pure, full of all knowledge, and grants righteousness, desire, and wealth.
पातयेत्तत्र सूत्राणि कोष्ठानां दृश्यते शतम्
There, one should lay out threads, a hundred compartments are seen.
कोष्ठं प्रकल्पयेत्पीठं पंक्त्या चैवात्र वीथिकाम्
One should arrange the compartment, the seat, and likewise the rows and the passage here.
अवशिष्टैः पदैः कुर्यात्सद्भिस्तंत्राणि मन्त्रवित्
With the remaining spaces, the knower of mantras should make the proper patterns with good threads.
पूर्वोक्तमण्डले विद्वन्धरणीसदनं बहिः
Outside the previously mentioned circle, the learned should establish the earth-altar.
गुलालीतूर्यवर्णेन महामत्त इति स्मृतः

A wish-fulfilling gem, a portion of saffron, a cavity, and the beloved of Hari.
तद्वद्वृषासनं ज्ञेयं शिखिरूपं शिखिध्वजम्
Likewise, the bull-seat should be known, in the form of a peacock, with a peacock banner.
गारुडं मेरुगर्भं च नीलकण्ठं नराकृतिम्
The Garuda, the womb of Meru, the blue-throated one, and the human form.
