ग्रहाणां पौष्टिके पक्षे बाह्यग्रामादिसाधने
On the nourishing side of the planets, in the establishment of outer villages and similar places,
प्रथमे मुष्टिहस्तः स्यात्संपूर्णे शेषमानकैः
At first, the hand should be in a fist; when full, use the remaining measures.
शेषा चैव वरिष्ठा च लवली भित्ति वेदिका
The remainder, as well as the most excellent, are lavalī, wall, and altar.
अयथाव्यत्यये दोषस्तस्माद्यत्नेन साधयेत्
If there is improper reversal, it is a fault; therefore, one should accomplish it with effort.
मुष्टिबाहुञ्च प्रादेशं वर्धयेत्षोडशांशके
One should increase the fist, arm, and span by one-sixteenth part.
दर्पणाकारकं कुर्याद्यागके शांति कर्मणि
One should make it in the form of a mirror for the purpose of sacrifice and peace rituals.
निशारणैर्गोमयैश्च वेदिकां च प्रलेपयेत्
With cow dung and night soil, one should smear the altar.
हीनवीर्यगवानां च पुरीषं धेनुकं तथा
The dung of cows with weak potency, and also that of she-asses,
वर्जयेत्सर्वयागेषु स्थंडिलेषु प्रयत्नतः 2.1.21.
Should be avoided in all sacrifices, especially on the altar, with great care.
तस्मात्प्रयत्नतः कार्यं यत्सूत्रं यच्च कीलकम्
Therefore, with effort, one should make whatever thread and whatever peg is required.
पीतकार्यस्रजं चैव कीलकं स्वर्णनिर्मितम्
The peg should be made of gold, and the garland for the work should be yellow.
गणनायके सुप्रशस्तं शैषेपामार्गमेव च
For the leader of the calculation, it should be excellent, and likewise for the path of the remainder.
षोडशे चार्कहस्ते च तत्र नेमियुतं भवेत्
In the sixteenth and in the hand of the sun, there should be a combination with the rim.
मण्डलदेवरचनावर्णनम् अर्कांगुलमितं क्षेत्रं चतुरस्रं प्रकल्पयेत्
One should prepare a square field measured by the sun's finger for the arrangement of the altar deity.
गुणांगुलं प्रतिदिशं वर्धयेत्सुविचक्षणः
The wise person should increase by the measure of a finger in each direction.
द्विहस्ते चैव सूत्राग्रे त्र्यंगुलानि समंततः
At the end of the thread, two hands, and three fingers all around.
एवं पोडशहस्तांतं वर्धयेत्क्रमतः स्वयम्
Thus, one should gradually increase up to sixteen hands by oneself.
द्वादशांगुलकल्पाभ्यां मधुहस्ते च मंडले
With a measure of twelve fingers, in the middle of the altar circle and the hand.
पद्ममानं चतुर्द्धा तु वृत्तं कुर्यात्समंततः
The measure of the lotus should be made fourfold, circular, and even on all sides.
तृतीये दलसंधींश्च दलाग्राणि चतुर्थके
In the third part, the joints of the petals, and in the fourth, the tips of the petals.
केशरास्त्रिविधाः प्रोक्ता मूलमध्याग्रदेशतः
The filaments are said to be of three kinds: at the base, in the middle, and at the tip.
पात्रसंधिर्भवेच्छ्यामः कोणे रक्तेन रंजयेत्
The joint of the vessel should be dark, and the corners should be colored red.
अष्टांगुलप्रमाणं यद्यथावर्णं विनादितः 2.2.1.

सीमरेखांगुलोच्छ्रायं तत्तदर्धेन योजयेत्

सर्वं च पूर्ववत्कार्यं पंकजं सुलिखेत्सुधीः
Everything should be done as before; the wise should carefully draw the lotus.
शुक्लारुणैस्तथा पीतैः पीतारुणसितैरपि
With white, red, and also yellow, and with yellow, red, and white as well.
कलायंत्रं तदंते च गुह्यपत्रा ग्रकेण तु
At the end, the device of the phases, and the secret leaf with a line.
एवं मंडलमंत्राणां वर्जयेत्परमार्थतः
Thus, one should omit the mantras of the maṇḍala in the highest sense.
