वसंतकं धात्रिमाने मोदकस्य प्रमाणतः
The measure for the sweet ball is the weight of a vasantaka and a dhatri fruit.
अष्टधा नालिकेरस्य पनसं दशधा भवेत्
Coconut should be divided into eight parts; jackfruit should be divided into ten parts.
उर्वारुकं चाष्टधा च गुडूची चतुरंगुलम्
Cucumber should also be divided into eight parts; guduchi should be four fingers in length.
अन्यत्र बदरीमानं तिंदुकं च त्रिधा कृतम् 2.1.18.

बिल्वपत्रस्य प्लवनं दंडं हित्वा च प्लावयेत्
One should float the bilva leaf, having set aside the stick used for floating.
बिल्वपत्रस्य पूर्वार्धप्राप्तमात्रेण योज येत्
The bilva leaf should be joined so that its front half is just touching.
न द्वित्रिप्लवनं कुर्यात्कृत्वा याति रसातलम्
One should not float it two or three times; if done, it goes to the netherworld.
पूर्वाशाभिमुखो भूत्वा पावयेच्च यथाक्रमात् 2.1.18.
Facing east, one should purify it in the proper order.
पायसान्यन्यदेवेषु यत्नेन परिव र्जयेत्
With effort, one should cover the other deities with the remaining rice pudding.

संप्राशे यः स्रुवः प्रोक्तः संस्कारे यज्ञसाधने
The ladle prescribed for tasting is also used in sacramental and sacrificial purposes.
स्रुवं स्रुचमथो वक्ष्ये यदधीनश्च जायते
Now I shall explain the ladle and the spoon, and that which is dependent on them.
