विपाकं कर्मणां सर्वं नरः प्राप्नोति सर्वदा
A man always attains the full result of all actions.
युक्ताश्चापि ग्रहास्तत्र नित्यं शांतिकपौष्टिके
And the planets that are suitable there always bring peace and nourishment.
अद्भुते च तथा शांतिं कुर्याद्भक्तिसमन्वितः
And likewise, with devotion, one should perform a rite of peace in the presence of a marvel.
अद्भुतेषु च सर्वेषु अयुतं कारयेन्नरः
For all marvels, a man should arrange for ten thousand offerings.
लक्षहोमं कोटिहोमं राजा कुर्याद्यथाविधि
The king should perform a hundred-thousand-offering and a ten-million-offering according to prescribed rule.
ग्रहाणां लक्षहोमस्तु कोटिहोमस्तथा कलौ
For the planets, a hundred-thousand-offering is prescribed, and in the Kali age, a ten-million-offering as well.
यत्र यत्र जपः कार्यो होमो वा यत्र कुत्रचित् 2.1.14.
Wherever a recitation or offering is to be performed, at any place whatsoever—
युग्मसाध्यं न कर्तव्यं युग्मतो भयमादिशेत्
A rite meant for a pair should not be performed together; fear is declared to arise from pairing.
एकत्रिंशद्दिनैर्वापि न कुर्याद्व्यत्ययं क्वचित्
One should never make an exchange within thirty-one days.
तृतीये तु सहस्रं स्याद्ग्रहसाध्यः स्मृतो विधिः
On the third day, a thousand is prescribed as the rite for accomplishing the planets.
द्वितीयेऽह्नि द्विसाहस्रं तृतीये तु सहस्रकम्
On the second day, two thousand; on the third day, a thousand.
नवाहे कल्पयेल्लक्षमेकैकांगं दिने दिने
In a nine-day rite, one should arrange a hundred thousand for each limb, day by day.
कोटिहोमे च तिथ्यंगे शतभागेन कल्पयेत्
For a ten-million-offering with lunar days as limbs, it should be arranged in a hundred parts.
नित्यमेकं दिने दद्यात्पृथङ्नित्यं न चाचरेत्
One should give one each day regularly, and not perform them separately each day.
अयुते लक्षहोमे च कोटिहोमे च सर्वदा
In a ten-thousand, hundred-thousand, or ten-million-offering, always—
महोत्सवे द्वितीये तु बलिदानं तथैव च
On the second day of a great festival, the giving of offerings is likewise prescribed.
पञ्चाहे तु तृतीयेऽह्नि बलिदानं प्रशस्यते 2.1.14.
In a five-day rite, on the third day, the giving of offerings is praised.
पञ्चाहे द्वादशाहे तु द्वात्रिंशत्षोडशेऽहनि
In a five-day, twelve-day, thirty-two-day, or sixteen-day rite—
कुण्डसंस्कारवर्णनम् असंस्कृते चार्थहानिस्तस्मात्संस्कृत्य होमयेत्
Description of the purification of the fire-pit: If it is not purified, there is loss of purpose; therefore, one should purify it and then perform the offering.
अष्टादश स्युः संस्काराः कुण्डानां तत्र दर्शिताः

त्रिसूत्रीकरणं पश्चाद्वृत्तसूत्रं निपातयेत्
After making the three threads, one should place the circular thread.
जिह्वां प्रकल्पयेत्पश्चात्तस्मादग्निं समाहरेत्
Then, one should prepare the tongue, and after that, bring forth the fire.
नदीपर्वतशालाभ्यः स्त्रीहस्तात्परिवर्जयेत्
One should avoid (taking it) from a river, mountain, hut, or from a woman's hand.
तमग्निं प्रतिगृह्णीयादात्मनोऽभिमुखं यथा
One should receive that fire so that it faces oneself.
वागीश्वरीमृतुस्नातां वागीश्वरसमागताम्
A woman who has bathed after her period, or who has united with Vāgīśvarī (the goddess of speech),
कालबीजेन चैशान्यां योनावग्निं विनिक्षिपेत्
Should place the fire in the yoni (womb) in the northeast, with the seed of time.
पितृपिङ्गल दहदह पंचयुग्ममुदीर्य च
Reciting 'Pitṛpiṅgala, burn, burn,' and uttering the five pairs,
वह्निबर्हिषि संयुक्ताः सादियांताः सबिंदवः 2.1.15.
Those joined with the sacred grass on the fire, along with the offerings and drops.
जिह्वास्तास्त्रिविधाः प्रोक्ता यज्ञदत्तेन सत्तमाः
The three kinds of tongues have been declared by Yajñadatta, O best ones.
त्रिमध्वक्तैर्यत्र होमं कर्णिकायां च होमयेत्
Wherever the oblation is made with three kinds of honey, one should offer it in the center.
