बृहत्क्षेत्रस्ततो ह्यासीत्पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
Then Bṛhatkṣetra arose, who attained a position equal to his father.
वीतिहोत्रस्तस्य सुतो राज्यं दशसहस्रकम् 3.1.3.
Vītihotra, his son, ruled the kingdom for ten thousand years.
शक्रहोत्रस्ततो जातः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्

तदायोध्यापतिः श्रीमान्प्रतापेंद्रो महाबलः

धनुर्दीप्तस्तस्य सुतः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्

हस्तीनाम सुतो जात ऐरावतसुतं गजम्
A son named Hastī was born, and the elephant Gaja, son of Airāvata.
आरुह्य पश्चिमे देशे हस्तिनानगरी कृता
Having mounted, in the western region, he established the city of Hastinā.
राज्यं दशसहस्रं च तत्र वासं चकार सः
He ruled for ten thousand years there and made his residence.
तस्माजातो रक्षपालः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
From him was born Rakṣapāla, who attained a position equal to his father.
तस्य पुत्रः कुरुर्नाम पितुरर्द्धं कृतं पदम्
His son was named Kuru, who accomplished half the position of his father.
तदा सात्त्वतवंशेऽस्मिन्वृष्णिर्नाम महाबलः 3.1.3.
At that time, in this Sāttvata lineage, there was a mighty one named Vṛṣṇi.
भगवतो वरदानेन हरेरद्भुतकर्मणः
By the boon granted by the Blessed Lord Hari, performer of wondrous deeds,

तस्माज्जातो नवरथः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
From him was born Navaratha, who attained a position equal to his father.
तस्माज्जातश्च शकुनिः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्
From him was born Śakuni, who attained a position equal to his father.
तस्माज्जातो देवरथः पितुस्तुल्यं कृतं पदम्

आगतो भारते खंडे कुरुक्षेत्रं तदा कृतम्
At that time, Kurukshetra was established in the land of Bharata.
द्वादशाब्दसहस्रं च कुरुणा राज्यसात्कृतम्
For twelve thousand years, the Kurus held sovereignty.
