यद्याज्ञवल्क्यमुनिना भगवान्वशिष्ठः पृष्टः किलोत्तरमुवाच बहुप्रकारम्
If the venerable Vasiṣṭha was asked by the sage Yājñavalkya, he indeed gave many kinds of answers.
जयति पराशरसूनुः सत्यवतीहृदयनंदनो व्यासः
Victory to Vyāsa, son of Parāśara, joy of Satyavatī’s heart!
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे समाप्तिवर्णनं श्रीकृष्णस्य द्वारकां प्रति गमनवर्णनं नाम सप्ताधिकद्विशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Uttaraparvan, the chapter named 'The Description of the Completion of the Dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, and the Departure of Śrī Kṛṣṇa to Dvārakā,' the two hundred and seventh chapter is concluded.
अनुक्रमणिकाकथनम् ( अथ वृत्तांताः माया च वैष्णवी यस्मात्संसारे दोषकीर्तनम् ।। १ पापभेदस्ततस्तस्माच्छुभाशुभविनिर्णयः
The account of the table of contents. (Now, the events: the Māyā of Viṣṇu, the description of faults in saṃsāra; the types of sin, and thus the determination of good and evil.)
अशोककरवीराख्यं व्रतं तस्माच्च कोकिलम्

द्वितीयाव्रतमाहात्म्यमशून्य शयनं तथा
The greatness of the second vow, and likewise the bed that is not empty.
पंचाग्निसाधना रम्या तृतीयाव्रतमुत्तमम्
The practice of the five fires is delightful; the third is the supreme vow.
ललिताख्या तृतीया च योगाख्या च तथापरा
The third is called Lalita, and another is known as the vow of Yoga.
सौभाग्याख्या तृतीया च आर्द्रानंदकरी था
The third is called Saubhagya, and there is also the Ardra Nandakari.
अनंतरी तृतीया च गणशांतिव्रतं तथा
The third is called Anantari, and likewise the vow for the peace of the hosts.
तथा श्रीपंचमी नाम षष्ठी शोकप्रणाशिनी
Then there is the vow named Shri Panchami, and the sixth is the destroyer of sorrow.
ललिताव्रतषष्ठी च षष्ठी कार्तिकसंज्ञिता 4.208.
There is also the Lalita Vow on the sixth day, and the sixth called Kartika.
आदित्यमंडपविधिस्त्रयोदशीति सप्तमी
The rite of the Aditya Pavilion is on the thirteenth, and the seventh day.
सप्तमी कमलाख्या च तथान्या शुभसप्तमी
The seventh is called Kamala, and another is the auspicious Saptami.
स्नपनव्रतसप्तम्यौ तथैवाचल सप्तमी
There are two Saptami vows of bathing, and likewise the Achala Saptami.
दूर्वाकृष्णाष्टमी प्रोक्ता अनयाव्रतमष्टमी
The Durva Krishna Ashtami is declared, and the Anaya Vow on the eighth day.
ध्वजाख्या नवमी चैव उल्काख्या नवमी तथा
The ninth is called Dhvaja, and also the ninth known as Ulka.
रोहिणींहरिशंभुब्रह्मसूर्यावियोगकम्
The Rohini, Hari, Shambhu, Brahma, and Surya are separated.
नीराजनद्वादशी च भीष्मपंचकमेव च
There is the Nirajana Dvadashi, and also the Bhishma Panchaka.
श्रवणद्वादशी नाम संप्राप्तिद्वादशीव्रतम्
The vow called Shravan Dvadashi, and the Dvadashi of attainment.
अखंडद्वादशीनाम तिलद्वादश्यतः परम्
There is the Akhanda Dvadashi, and then the Sesame Dvadashi.
विशोकद्वादशी नाम विभूतिद्वादशीव्रतम् 4.208.
The vow called Vishoka Dvadashi, and the Vibhuti Dvadashi.
अनंगद्वादशी चैव अङ्गपादव्रतं तथा अनंगद्वादशी चापि पालिरम्भाव्रते तथा
There is also the Ananga Dvadashi, and the vow of Angapada; again, the Ananga Dvadashi and the vow of Palirambha.
चतुर्दशीव्रतं प्रोक्तं ततोऽनन्तचतुर्दशी
The vow of Chaturdashi is declared, then the Ananta Chaturdashi.
व्रतं शिवचतुर्दश्यां फलत्यागचतुर्दशी
The vow observed on the fourteenth day dedicated to Shiva yields the fruit of the Phalatyaga Chaturdashi.
कार्तिक्यां कृत्तिकायोगे कृत्तिकाव्रतमीरितम्
On the Kartika month, when the Krittika constellation is present, the Krittika vow is prescribed.
अशोकपूर्णिमा नाम अनंतव्रतमेव च
There is the Ashoka Purnima, and also the Ananta vow.
शिवनक्षत्रपुरुषं संपूर्णं येन मुच्यते
By performing the complete Shiva Nakshatra Purusha rite, one is liberated.
आदित्यस्य दिने नक्तं संक्रात्युद्यापने फलम्
On the day of the Sun, the fruit is obtained by night-fasting and by observing the Sankranti rite.
अर्घः शुक्रबृहस्पत्योः पंचाशीति व्रतानि च
Offering arghya on Fridays and Thursdays, and the fifty-five vows as well.
