मंदारः पारिजातश्च तृतीयः कल्पपादपः
Mandara, Parijata, and the third is the wish-fulfilling tree.
हरिचंदनसंतानौ पूर्वपश्चिमभागयोः
Sandalwood and champaka trees should be placed on the eastern and western sides.
मंदरे कामदेवं तु कंदबस्य तले न्यसेत्
Place the image of Kāma, the god of love, beneath the Kadamba tree on Mandara.
प्राङ्मुखो हेममूर्तिश्च हंसः स्याद्विपुलाचले
A golden image, facing east, should be a swan on the great mountain.
धान्यपर्वतवत्सर्वमावाहनमखादिकम्
All the rites of invocation and the like should be performed as on Dhānyaparvata.
ऋत्विग्भ्यश्चतुरः शैलानिमान्मंत्रानुदीरयेत् 4.204.
Let the officiating priests recite these four mantras for the mountains.
यस्मादानंदकारी त्वं भव शैलेंद्र सर्वदा
O lord of mountains, since you always bring joy, remain so forever.
देवानां तत्समुत्थोऽसि पाहि नः शर्कराचल
You have arisen from the gods; protect us, O mountain of sugar.
तन्मयोऽसि महाशैल पाहि संसारसागरात्
You are composed of that essence, O great mountain; save us from the ocean of worldly existence.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः स याति शिवमंदिरम्
Freed from all sins, he attains the abode of Shiva.
सहैव यानमातिष्ठेत्स तु विष्णुपदे दिवि
He ascends together to the heavenly realm of Vishnu.
आयुरारोग्यसंपन्नो यावज्जन्मायुतत्रयम् स्वयं वा क्षार लवणमश्नीयात्तदनुज्ञया
Blessed with long life, health, and prosperity for three lifespans, he may himself eat alkaline salt with permission.
पर्वतोपस्करं सर्वं प्रापयेद्ब्राह्मणालयम्
All the mountain offerings should be brought to the house of a Brahmin.
सुहृच्छक्रस्य निहता येन दैत्याः सहस्रशः
By whom thousands of demons, the enemies of the gods, were slain.
भवंति शतशो येन राजानोऽपि पराजिताः
By whom even hundreds of kings have been defeated.
तस्य भानुमतीनाम भार्या त्रैलोक्यसुंदरी 4.204.
His wife is named Bhānumatī, the most beautiful in the three worlds.
राज्ञस्तस्याग्रमहिषी प्राणेभ्योऽपि गरीयसी
She is the chief queen of that king, dearer than life itself.
नृपकोटिसहस्रेण न कदाचित्प्रमुच्यते
She is never abandoned, even by a hundred thousand kings.
विस्मयाविष्टहृदयो वसिष्ठमृषिसत्तमम्
The heart of the eminent sage Vasiṣṭha was filled with wonder.
कस्माच्च विपुलं तेजो मच्छरीरे सदोत्तमम्
And why, indeed, is there such great and supreme brilliance in your body?
पुरा लीलावती नाम वेश्या शिवपरायणा
Once, there was a courtesan named Līlāvatī, devoted to Śiva.
हेमवृक्षामरैः सार्द्धं यथावद्विधिपूर्वकः
Together with the golden tree spirits, she performed the prescribed rites as required.
भृत्यो लीलावतीगेहे तेन हैमा विनिर्मिताः
Her servant, in Līlāvatī's house, crafted golden objects.
अतिरूपेण संपन्नान्घटयित्वा ततो हृदि
They were made exceedingly beautiful, and then placed in the heart.
उज्ज्वालितास्तु तत्पत्न्या सौवर्णामरपादपाः
Those golden divine trees were kindled by her husband.
कृतं ताभ्यां प्रहर्षेण द्विजशुश्रूषणादिकम् 4.204.
With great joy, both of them performed service to the twice-born and other acts.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्ता जगाम शिवमंदिरम्
Freed from all sin, she went to the temple of Śiva.
न मूल्यमादाद्वेश्यातः स भवानिह सांप्रतम्
No payment was taken from the courtesan; she now dwells here.
उज्ज्वालनादुज्ज्वलरूपमस्याः सुजातमस्मिन्भुवनाधिपत्यम्
From the kindling, her radiant form became noble, and she attained lordship over this world.
तस्माच्च लोकेष्वपराजितस्त्वमारोग्यसौभाग्ययुता च लक्ष्मीः
Therefore, in the world, you are undefeated, endowed with health, fortune, and prosperity.
