हव्ये कव्ये च यस्माच्च तिलैरेवाभिमंत्रणम् 4.199.
And because in offerings to gods and ancestors, the sesame seeds are always consecrated,
इत्यामंत्र्य च यो दद्यात्तिलाचलमनुत्तमम्
Thus, having invoked them, whoever gives a supreme sesame mountain—
दीर्घायुष्ट्वमवाप्नोति इह लोके परत्र च
He attains long life in this world and the next.
पुण्यक्षयादिहाभ्येत्य राजा भवति धार्मिकः
When his merit is exhausted, he is reborn here as a righteous king.
दक्षा कुलोद्भवा चैव पुत्रपौत्रसमन्विता
Born in a noble family, surrounded by sons and grandsons,
कपिलादानपुण्यस्य समं फलमवाप्नुयात्
He attains the same fruit as the merit of giving a Kapila cow.
दानं तिलाचलसमं यदि चान्यदस्ति तद्भूत शास्त्रनिचयं प्रविचार्य बुद्ध्या
If there is any other gift equal to a sesame mountain, let it be determined by wise reflection on the collections of scripture.
कार्पासाचलदानविधिवर्णनम् परमं सर्वदानानां प्रियं सर्वदिवौकसाम्
The procedure for giving a cotton mountain is described, which is most dear among all gifts to all the gods.
देशकालौ समासाद्य धनं श्रद्धां च यत्नतः
Having obtained the proper place and time, as well as wealth and faith, with diligence,
पूर्वोक्तेन विधानेन कृत्वा सर्वमशेषतः
One should perform everything completely according to the previously stated procedure.
विंशद्भारस्तु कर्तव्य उत्तमः पर्वतो बुधैः
A mountain weighing twenty units should be made; this is considered excellent by the wise.
भारेणाल्पधनो दद्याद्वित्तशाठ्यविवर्जितः
One with little wealth should give according to his capacity, free from deceit regarding wealth.
तद्वज्जागरणं कुर्यात्तद्वच्चैवाधिवासनम्
Likewise, one should perform the vigil and the consecration in the same manner.
त्वमेवावरणं यस्माल्लोकानामिह सर्वदा
For you alone are always the covering for all worlds here.
इति कार्पासशैलेन्द्रं यो दद्यात्पर्वसंनिधौ
Thus, whoever gives the lord of the cotton mountain at the time of the festival,
रूपवान्सुभगो वाग्मी श्रीमानतुलविक्रमः
He becomes handsome, fortunate, eloquent, prosperous, and unmatched in valor.
कार्पासपर्वतमयो जगदेकबंधुर्यस्मान्नतेन रहितो वरवस्त्रयोगः 4.200.
Because the cotton mountain is the sole kin of the world, lacking nothing, and joined with excellent garments.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे कार्पासाचलदानविधिवर्णनं नाम द्विशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the two-hundredth chapter, named 'Description of the Procedure for Giving the Cotton Mountain,' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, Uttaraparva.
घृताचलदानविधिवर्णनम् तेजोऽमृतमयं दिव्यं महापातकनाशनम्
Description of the procedure for giving the mountain of ghee: it is divine, composed of brilliance and nectar, and destroys great sins.
पंचाशद्घृतकुम्भानामुत्तमः स्याद्घृताचलः
The best ghee mountain consists of fifty pots of ghee.
अल्पवित्तस्तु कुर्वीत यथाशक्त्या विधानतः
One with little wealth should make it according to his ability and the prescribed method.
शालेयतंदुलानां च कुंभांश्च परिविन्यसेत्
He should arrange pots of rice grains as well.
वेष्टयेच्छुक्लवासोभिरिक्षुदंडफलादिकैः
He should wrap them with white cloths, and with sugarcane sticks and fruits.
अधिवासनपूर्वं च तद्वद्धोमं सुरार्चनम्
Before consecration, likewise, he should perform the oblation and worship of the gods.
विष्कंभपर्वतांस्तद्वदृत्विग्भ्यः शांतमानसः
In the same way, he should give the mountain supports to the priests, with a peaceful mind.
संयोगाद्घृतमुत्पन्नं यस्मादमृततेजसे
Because ghee arises from the union, possessing the brilliance of nectar.
तस्मात्तेजोमयं ब्रह्म घृते नित्यं व्यवस्थितम्
Therefore, the radiant Brahman is always established in ghee.
अनेन विधिना दद्याद्घृताचलमनुत्तमम् 4.201.
According to this procedure, one should offer the excellent mountain of ghee.
हंससारससंयुक्ते किंकिणीजालमालिते
Adorned with swans and cranes, and covered with a net of small bells,
विहरेत्पितृभिः सार्द्धं यावदाभूतसंप्लवम्
He shall enjoy with the ancestors until the end of creation.
