प्रेतनाथाय रौद्राय तथा वैवस्वताय च
To the Lord of the departed, the fierce one, and also to Vaivasvata,
उच्चार्य श्रद्धया युक्तः प्रणिपत्य विसर्जयेत्
Reciting with devotion, he should bow and respectfully dismiss them.
यमाय स सुखं मर्त्ये स्थित्वा व्याधिविवर्जितः
He happily remains among mortals, free from disease, for Yama.
न पश्यति प्रेतमुखं पितृलोकं स गच्छति
He does not see the face of the departed; he goes to the realm of the ancestors.
महिषं सुशुभं कुंभं चतुर्दश्यां पयोभृतम्
On the fourteenth day, he should offer a splendid buffalo and a pot filled with milk.
घंटाभरणशोभाढ्यं वृषभेण समन्वितम्
Adorned with bell ornaments and accompanied by a bull.
वृषं दत्त्वा नरश्रेष्ठ शिवलोके महीयते
By giving a bull, O best of men, he is honored in the realm of Shiva.
आरोग्यधनसंयुक्ते कुले महति जायते ।। 4.193.
He is born in a great family endowed with health and wealth.
पौर्णमास्यां वृषोत्सर्गं कारयित्वा विधानतः
On the full moon, he should perform the ritual of releasing a bull according to the prescribed method.
पूजयेद्गंधकुसुमैर्नैवेद्यं विनिवेद्य च
He should worship with fragrance and flowers, and offer food as well.
मंत्रेणानेन राजेन्द्र तन्निबोध यथोदितम्

उमा पतेः शिरोरत्नशिवं यच्छ नमोनमः
