तृतीयायां महाराज राधां स्वर्णमयीं शुभाम्
On the third day, O King, a beautiful image of Rādhā made of gold should be prepared.
जीरकं कटुकं चैव गुडं पार्थेषु दापयेत्
Cumin, black cumin, and jaggery should be given to the sons of Pṛthā.
पुष्पधूपैः सनैवेद्यैः पूजयित्वा द्विजातये
After worshipping with flowers, incense, and offerings, one should honor the twice-born.
प्रासादा यत्र सौवर्णा नद्यः पायसकर्दमाः
There, palaces of gold and rivers filled with milk and rice await.
स्वर्गादिहैत्य संसारे सुरूपः सुभगो भवेत्
Having come from this world to heaven, one becomes handsome and fortunate.
नारी वा तद्गुणैर्युक्ता भवतीह न संशयः
A woman endowed with those qualities is surely born here, without doubt.
कामयित्वांकुशयुतं तिलद्रोणोपरि न्यसेत्
Desiring, one should place an image with a goad upon a mound of sesame seeds.
ततस्तु ब्राह्मणे दद्याद्गणेशः प्रीयतामिति 4.193.
Then, one should give it to a brāhmaṇa, saying, 'May Ganeśa be pleased.'
वारणाः सप्त जन्मानि भवंति मदविह्वलाः
For seven births, elephants are born, intoxicated with passion.
पंचम्यां पन्नगं चैव स्वर्णेनैकेन कारयेत्
On the fifth day, one should have a serpent made of gold.
द्विजं संपूज्य वासोभिः प्रणिपत्य क्षमापयेत्
After honoring the twice-born with garments, one should bow and ask forgiveness.
नागोपद्रवविद्रावि सर्वदुष्टनिबर्हणम्
It dispels the afflictions of serpents and removes all evils.
षष्ठ्यां शक्तिसमोपेतं कुमारं शिखिवाहनम्
On the sixth day, Kumāra, the peacock-rider, endowed with power, should be worshipped.
तंडुलेनाथ शिखरे वासोभिः पूज्य भक्तितः
With rice and on a peak, and with garments, he should be worshipped with devotion.
पूजयित्वा गंधपुष्पधूपैनैवेद्यतस्तथा
Having worshipped with fragrance, flowers, incense, and offerings likewise,
इह भूतिं परां प्राप्य प्रेत्य स्वर्गे महीयते
One attains great prosperity here and, after death, is honored in heaven.
सप्तम्यां भास्करं पूज्य ब्राह्मणानश्वमुत्तमम्
On the seventh day, having worshipped the Sun and excellent brāhmaṇas with a horse,
सूर्यलोकमवाप्नोति सूर्येण सह मोदते 4.193.
One attains the world of the Sun and rejoices there together with the Sun.
अष्टम्यां वृषभं श्वेतमव्यंगांगं धुरंधरम्
On the eighth day, one should give a white bull, unblemished in limb, and capable of bearing burdens.
दद्यात्प्रणम्य विप्राय प्रीयतां वृषभध्वजः
Having bowed, one should give it to a Brahmin; the Bull-bannered Lord will be pleased.
दानेनानेन नृपते शिवलोको न दुर्लभः
By this gift, O King, the world of Shiva is not difficult to attain.
तस्माद्वृषभदानेन दत्ता भवति भारती
Therefore, by the gift of a bull, the earth is considered to be given.
मुक्ताफलाष्टकयुतं नीलवस्त्रावगुण्ठितम्
Adorn it with eight pearls and drape it in blue cloth.
द्विजातिप्रवरायेत्थं सर्वान्कामान्समश्नुते
A foremost twice-born who acts thus enjoys all desired objects.
हिंसकास्तं न हिंसंति दानस्यास्य प्रभावतः
Violent beings do not harm him, due to the power of this gift.
पुण्यक्षयादिहाभ्येत्य राजा भवति धार्मिकः
When his merit is exhausted, he is reborn here as a righteous king.
लवणे च गुडे क्षीरे निष्पावेषु तिलेषु च
With salt, jaggery, milk, split pulses, and sesame seeds,
संपूज्य वस्त्रपुष्पाद्यैर्द्विजाय प्रतिपादयेत् 4.193.
Having worshipped with cloth, flowers, and the like, he should present them to a Brahmin.
निर्वापयति राजेंद्र तस्य पुण्यफलं शृणु
O King, it extinguishes (sins); hear the fruit of merit from this.
सकलास्तस्य सर्वाशा याः काश्चिन्मनसेच्छिताः
All the desires he may have in his mind are fulfilled.
