ममोच्छिष्ठं सभुंजीयाद्यथा तत्पश्य भो नृप
O king, see how one may eat what I have left as remnants.
म्लेच्छधर्मे मतिश्चासीत्तस्य भूपस्य दारुणे
That king’s mind became fixed in the harsh religion of the foreigners.
तच्छ्रुत्वा कालिदासस्तु रुषा प्राह महामदम्

That was established by them in the middle of the land, and those devoted to arrogance remained there.
रात्रौ स देवरूपश्च बहुमायाविशारदः
At night, that one, possessing a divine form and skilled in many illusions,
आर्य्यधर्मो हि ते राजन्सर्वधर्मोत्तमः स्मृतः
O King, the noble dharma is indeed yours, remembered as the highest of all dharmas.
लिंगच्छेदी शिखाहीनः श्मश्रुधारी स दूषकः
He who is castrated, without a topknot, and bearing a beard is a defiler.
विना कौलं च पशवस्तेषां भक्ष्या मता मम
For them, animals not consecrated by Kaula rites are considered edible by me.
तस्मान्मुसलवन्तो हि जातयो धर्मदूषकाः
Therefore, those born with pestles are corrupters of dharma.
इत्युक्त्वा प्रययौ देवः स राजा गेहमाययौ
Having spoken thus, the deity departed, and the king returned home.
शूद्रेषु प्राकृती भाषा स्थापिता तेन धीमता
Among the Śūdras, the natural language was established by that wise one.
स्थापिता तेन मर्य्यादा सर्वदेवोपमानिनी 3.3.3.
By him, a code of conduct, comparable to all the gods, was established.
आर्य्य वर्णाः स्थितास्तत्र विंध्यान्ते वर्णसंकराः

बर्बरे तुषदेशे च द्वीपे नानाविधे तथा

जाताश्चाल्पायुषो मन्दास्त्रिशताब्दान्तरे मृताः
Those born there were short-lived and dull, dying after three hundred years.
बहुभूपवती भूमिस्तेषां राज्ये बभूव ह
That land became possessed of many kings during their rule.
तदन्वये त्रिभूपाश्च द्विशताब्दान्तरे मृताः
In their lineage, three kings also died after two hundred years.
कल्पक्षेत्रे च राज्यं स्वं कृतवान्धर्मतो नृपः
In the land of Kalpa, the king righteously established his own rule.
इंद्रप्रस्थेनंगपालस्तोमरान्वयसंभवः
He was the ruler of Indraprastha, descended from the Tomara lineage.
अग्निवंशस्य विस्तारो बभूव बलवत्तरः
The expansion of the Agni dynasty became even more powerful.
उत्तरे चीनदेशान्ते सेतुबंधे तु दक्षिणे
In the north, at the border of China, and in the south at Setubandha.
अग्निहोत्रस्य कर्तारो गोब्राह्मणहितैषिणः
They performed Agnihotra sacrifices, seeking the welfare of cows and Brahmins.
द्वापराख्यसमः कालः सर्वत्र परिवर्तते
A time equal to what is called Dvapara constantly revolves everywhere.
ग्रामेग्रामे स्थितो देवो देशेदेशे स्थितो मखः 3.3.4.
In every village the deity abides, and in every region the sacrifice is established.
इति दृष्ट्वा कलिर्घोरो म्लेच्छया सह भीरुकः
Seeing this, the dreadful Kali, fearful and accompanied by foreigners, appeared.
द्वादशाब्दमिते काले ध्यानयोगपरोऽभवत्
During this twelve-year period, he devoted himself to meditation and yoga.
