दानं प्रधानतरमेतदतीव विप्रे प्रोक्तं युधिष्ठिर समाधिधिया विचिंत्य
This gift is considered the foremost, O learned one, as declared, Yudhishthira, after deep contemplation.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे सप्तसागरदानविधिवर्णनं नाम द्व्यशीत्युत्तरशततमोऽ ध्यायः
Thus ends the eighty-second chapter in the Uttaraparva of the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, named 'The Description of the Rite of Giving Seven Seas,' in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira.
महाभूतघटदानवर्णनम् महाभूतघटं नाम महापातकनाशनम्
The description of the donation of the Mahabhutaghata: The vessel called Mahabhutaghata destroys great sins.
पुण्यां तिथिं समासाद्य स्वनुलिप्ते गृहांगणे
On an auspicious date, in one's own purified house courtyard,
प्रादेशादंगुलशतं यावत्कुर्यात्प्रमाणतः
One should prepare it according to measure, up to a hundred angulas in length.
क्षीराज्यपूरितं कृत्वा कल्पवृक्षसमन्वितम्
Filling it with milk and ghee, and including the wish-fulfilling tree,
लोकपाला महेन्द्राश्च स्ववाहनसमास्थिताः
The guardians of the worlds and Mahendra, each with their respective vehicles,
वीणाधारी सामवेदो ह्यथर्वा स्रक्छुभान्वितः
The Sama Veda holding a veena, Atharva with a garland and staff,
सप्तधान्यानि पुरतः स्थापयेच्छक्तितो बुधः
A wise person should place seven kinds of grains in front, as able.
एवं प्रकल्प्य विधिवन्महाभूतघटं नरः
Thus, having arranged the Mahabhutaghata according to the prescribed method,
अथ पर्वसमीपे तु स्नात्वा नियतमानसः
Then, near the festival, having bathed and with a disciplined mind,
यस्मान्न किंचिदप्यस्ति महाभूतैर्विना कृतम् 4.183.
For nothing at all exists that is made without the great elements.
अत्र सन्निहिता देवाः स्थापिता विश्वकर्मणा
Here, the gods are present, established by Vishvakarma.
इत्येवं पूजयित्वा तु महाभूतघटं नरः
Thus, having worshipped the Mahabhutaghata in this manner,
महाभूतघटं दद्यात्पर्वकाले यतव्रतः
One should give the Mahabhutaghata at the time of the festival, observing vows.
अनेन विधिना यश्च दानमेतत्प्रयच्छति
Whoever gives this donation according to this method,
पुण्यक्षयादिहाभ्येत्य राजा भवति धार्मिकः
After the exhaustion of merit, he comes here and becomes a righteous king.
क्षत्रधर्मरतो विद्वान्देवब्राह्मणपूजकः
He delights in the duties of the warrior class, is learned, and worships gods and Brahmins.
अष्टापदोत्तमघटं विमलं विधाय ब्रह्मेशकेशवयुतं सहलोकपालैः
Having fashioned an excellent, spotless vessel of eight measures, adorned with Brahma, Shiva, and Keshava, together with the guardians of the worlds,
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे महाभूतघटदान विधिवर्णनं नाम त्र्यशीत्युत्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttaraparvan, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira, the one hundred and eighty-third chapter named 'The Description of the Rite of Giving the Great Elements Vessel' is concluded.
शय्यादानविधिवर्णनम् यद्दत्त्वा सुखभागी स्यादिह लोके परत्र च
The description of the rite of giving a bed: By giving this, one becomes a recipient of happiness in this world and the next.
शय्यादानं प्रयच्छंति सर्वदैव द्विजोत्तमाः
The best of twice-born always offer the gift of a bed.
तावत्स बंधुः स पिता यावज्जीवति भारत
O Bharata, as long as one lives, that person is a relative, that person is a father.
तस्मात्स्वयं प्रदातव्यं शय्याभोज्यजलादिकम्
Therefore, one should personally give a bed, food, water, and the like.
आत्मैव यो हि नात्मानं दानभोगैः समर्चयेत्
For he who does not honor himself with gifts and enjoyments is truly not his own self.
तस्माच्छय्यां समासाद्य सारदारुमयीं दृढाम्
Therefore, having obtained a sturdy bed made of good wood,
हंसतूलीप्रतिच्छन्नां सुभगां सोपधानिकाम्
Covered with swan-down, beautiful, and furnished with a pillow,
तस्यां संस्थापयेद्धैमं हरिं लक्ष्मीसमन्वितम्

विज्ञेयं पांडव सदा सनिद्राकल्पकं बुधैः
