धृतं स्तम्भसहस्रेण सुकृतं विश्वकर्मणा
Supported by a thousand pillars, skillfully constructed by Viśvakarma.
तदारुह्य विमानाग्र्यं विद्याधरगणैर्युतम्
Ascending that supreme palace, accompanied by hosts of Vidyādharas.
मन्वन्तरशते जाते कर्मभूमौ प्रजायते
When a hundred Manvantaras have passed, he is born again on the earth of action.
धार्मिकः सत्यशीलश्च ब्रह्मण्यो गुरुवत्सलः
He is righteous, truthful in conduct, devoted to Brahman, and affectionate toward his teachers.
यस्त्विदं शृणुयाद्भक्त्या रहस्यं पापनाशनम्
Whoever listens with devotion to this secret, which destroys sin,
गर्भं हिरण्यरचितं विधिवत्प्रविश्य संस्कारसंस्कृततनुः पुनरेव तस्मात्
Having properly entered a womb made of gold, and with a body purified by rites, again from there—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे हिरण्यगर्भदानविधिवर्णनं नाम षट्सप्तत्युत्तरशतत तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the description of the rite of giving the golden embryo, in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, in the Uttaraparva of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, chapter one hundred seventy-six.
ब्रह्माण्डदानविधिवर्णनम् शृणु त्वं राजशार्दूल कथ्यमानं मयाधुना
Description of the rite of giving the Brahmāṇḍa. Hear now, O tiger among kings, as I narrate it to you.
येन दत्तेन राजेन्द्र सर्वं पापं व्यपोहति
By giving this, O king, all sin is removed.
मंगल्यं मंगलं पुण्यं सर्वदानेषु चोत्तमम् ब्रह्मांडं कांचनं कृत्वा सर्वलक्षणसंयुतम्
It is auspicious, supremely meritorious, and the best among all gifts. By making a golden Brahmāṇḍa endowed with all marks—
देवासुरमनुष्यैश्च गन्धर्वोरगराक्षसैः विमानशतकोटीभिर्भूषितं चाप्सरोवरैः
Adorned by gods, asuras, humans, gandharvas, serpents, and rākṣasas, with ten million palaces and apsaras-lakes.
दिग्गजाष्टकसंयुक्तं मध्यस्थितचतुर्मुखम्
Joined with eight elephants of the directions, and in the center, the four-faced one is situated.
तस्यांगे कल्पयेद्राजन्भुवनानि चतुर्दश
Upon that form, O King, let one establish the fourteen worlds.
कुर्याद्विंशत्पलादूर्ध्वमासहस्राच्च भक्तितः
Above a measure of twenty palas, and with devotion for a thousand months, let it be made.
शिल्पिना विहितं यस्माद्ब्रह्मांडं सर्वकामदम्
Since the cosmic egg, bestower of all desires, is fashioned by the artisan,
अन्येष्वपि तु कालेषु श्रद्धावित्तसमन्वितः
At other times also, endowed with faith and wealth,
तिलद्रोणोपरिगतं कंकुमक्षोदचर्चितम् 4.177.
Let it be placed upon a measure of sesame, anointed with saffron powder.
तस्य दिक्षु च सर्वासु पूर्णकुम्भांश्च विन्यसेत्
And in all directions, let full water pots be arranged.
गृहे वा मंडपे वापि स्थापयेत्तद्विचक्षणः
Let the wise one establish it either in the house or in a pavilion.
संयुक्तं कारयेत्तत्र पयस्विन्या तथैव च
There, let it be joined with a vessel of milk in the same way.
चतुश्चारणिकास्तत्र होमं कुर्युर्द्विजोत्तमाः
There, the best of twice-born should perform the fire offering with four officiants.
प्रचरेयुर्द्विजास्तत्र उपाध्यायसमन्विताः
There, the twice-born, accompanied by the teacher, should proceed.
इतरेषां तु पञ्चैव कुर्युर्यज्ञमतंद्रिताः
For the others, let five, diligent in sacrifice, perform the rite.
ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवानां च तन्नाम्ना जुहुयात्तिलान्
With the names of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, let them offer sesame into the fire.
रुद्रजापस्तु कर्तव्यस्तस्यैवानंतरं द्विजैः
The Rudra incantation should then be performed by the twice-born immediately after.
ब्रह्मांडं पूजयेद्भक्त्या गृहीतकुसुमांजलिः
With hands joined holding flowers, let one worship the cosmic egg with devotion.
वाङ्मयांत निमग्नाय ब्रह्मांड शुभकृद्भव 4.177.
To the one immersed in the end of speech, O cosmic egg, become the bringer of auspiciousness.
तानि सर्वाणि मे तुष्टिं प्रयच्छत्वतुलां सदा
May all these always grant me incomparable satisfaction.
नक्षत्राणि तथा नागा ऋषयो मरुतस्तथा
The stars, likewise the serpents, the seers, and also the Maruts—
इत्युच्चार्य ततो दद्याद्ब्रह्मांडं सर्वकामदम्
Having recited thus, then let one give the cosmic egg, bestower of all desires.
