ज्ञानं प्रसादजं विप्रः प्राप्य विष्णुपरायणम् 3.2.35.
The Brāhmaṇa, having obtained knowledge born of grace, became devoted to Viṣṇu.
ऊर्द्ध्वपुंड्रं च तिलकं तुलसीकण्ठमालिकाम्
He wore the upright mark, the tilaka, and a garland of tulasī on his neck.
जनेजने तथा कृत्वा महाभाष्य मुदैरयत्
He performed the great commentary in every gathering, bringing joy.
इति ते कथितो विप्र जाप्यानामुत्तमो जपः
Thus, O Brahmin, I have told you about the supreme recitation among all chants.
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यंतु मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत्
May all behold auspiciousness; let no one become a recipient of sorrow.
मंगलं भगवान्विष्णुर्मंगलं गरुडध्वजः
Auspicious is Lord Vishnu; auspicious is he whose banner bears Garuda.
शुचिर्यो हि नरो नित्यमितिहाससमुच्चयम्
The pure man who daily studies the collection of histories—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराणे प्रतिसर्गपर्वणि चतुर्युगखण्डापरपर्याये कलियुगीयेतिहाससमुच्चये उत्तमचरितमाहात्म्ये पंचत्रिंशोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the thirty-fifth chapter in the section on the supreme character and greatness, in the collection of Kali Yuga histories, in the Pratisarga Parva of the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana.
शतद्वादशमर्यादो द्वापरस्य समो भुवि
The rule of one hundred and twelve was equal to that of Dvapara on earth.
अस्मिन्काले महाभाग लीला भगवता कृता
At this time, O fortunate one, the Lord performed his divine play.
देवीं सरस्वतीं व्यासं ततो जयमुदीरयेत्
Then one should invoke the goddess Sarasvati and Vyasa, and utter victory.
भविष्याख्ये महाकल्पे प्राप्ते वैवस्वतेन्तरे
When the great cycle called Bhavishya arrives in the Vaivasvata interval—
पांडवैर्निर्जिताः सर्वे कौरवाः युद्धदुर्मदाः
All the Kauravas, intoxicated by battle, were defeated by the Pandavas.
दिनान्ते भग वान्कृष्णो ज्ञात्वा कालस्य दुर्गतिम्
At the end of the day, Lord Krishna, knowing the misfortune of the time—
कालकर्त्रे जगद्भर्त्रे पापहर्त्रे नमोनमः
Salutations again and again to the maker of time, the sustainer of the world, the remover of sin.
पांडवान्रक्ष भगवन्मद्भक्तान्भूतभीरुकान् रक्षार्थं शिबिराणां च प्राप्तवाञ्छूलहस्तधृक्
O Lord, protect the Pandavas, my devotees who are fearful of beings; for their protection and for the camps, you arrived bearing the spear in hand.
तदा नृपाज्ञया कृष्णः स गतो गजसाह्वयम्
Then, by the king's command, Krishna went to Gajasāhvaya.
निशीथे द्रौणिभोजौ च कृपस्तत्र समाययुः 3.3.1.
At midnight, Drauni and Bhoja, along with Kripa, arrived there.
अश्वत्थामा तु बलवाञ्छिवदत्तमसिं तदा
Ashvatthama, powerful, then seized the sword from Shivadatta.
हत्वा यथेष्टमगमद्द्रौणिस्ताभ्यां समन्वितः
Having slain as he wished, Drauni departed, accompanied by those two.
पार्षतस्यैव सूतश्च हतशेषो भयातुरः
The charioteer of the Pārṣata, left alive and terrified, remained.
आगस्कृतं शिवं ज्ञात्वा भीमाद्याः क्रोधमूर्च्छिताः
Knowing that a wrong had been committed against Shiva, Bhima and the others were overcome with wrath.
अस्त्रशस्त्राणि तेषां तु शिवदेहे समाविशन्
Their weapons and missiles entered into the body of Shiva.
ताञ्छशाप तदा रुद्रो यूयं कृष्णप्रपूजकाः
Then Rudra cursed them: 'You will become worshippers of Krishna.'
पुनर्जन्म कलौ प्राप्य भोक्ष्यते चापराधकम्
Having obtained rebirth in the Kali age, you will experience the result of your offense.
हरिं शरणमाजग्मुरपराधनिवृत्तये
They took refuge in Hari to be freed from their transgression.
तुष्टुवुर्मनसा रुद्रं तदा प्रादुरभूच्छिवः
They praised Rudra in their minds, and then Shiva appeared.
शस्त्राण्यस्त्राणि यान्येव त्वदंगे क्षपितानि वै 3.3.1.
The weapons and missiles that were destroyed upon your body—
इति श्रुत्वा शिवः प्राह कृष्णदेव नमोऽस्तु ते
Hearing this, Shiva spoke: 'O Krishna, obeisance to you.'
तद्वशेन मया स्वामिन्दत्तः शापो भयंकरः
By your will, O Lord, I gave that terrible curse.
