सर्वाभरणसंपन्नः सर्वद्वंद्वविवर्जितः
Endowed with all ornaments, free from all dualities.
आधि व्याधि विनिर्मुक्तो रूपवान्प्रियदर्शनः सर्वान्कामानवाप्नोति जायमानः पुनः पुनः
Freed from distress and disease, possessing beauty and pleasing appearance, one attains all desires, being born again and again.
आमन्त्र्य साधुकुलशीलगुणान्विताय विप्राय यः कनकधेनुमिमां प्रदद्यात्
Whoever, after inviting a Brahmin endowed with good family, character, and virtues, gives this golden cow—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे सुवर्णधेनुदानव्रतविधिवर्णनं नाम षट्पंचाशदुत्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue between Sri Krishna and Yudhishthira, the one hundred and fifty-sixth chapter named 'Description of the vow and rite of giving a golden cow' is concluded.
रत्नधेनुदानव्रतविधिवर्णनम् रत्नधेन्विति विख्यातं गोलोकफलदं नृणाम्
The description of the vow and rite of giving a jewel-encrusted cow—known as 'Ratnadhenudana,' bestower of the fruit of Goloka for men.
पुण्यं दिनमथासाद्य गोमयेनोपलेपनम्
Having obtained an auspicious day, one should smear with cow dung.
धेनुं रत्नमयीं कुर्यात्तत्तत्संकल्पपूर्विकाम्
One should fashion a cow of jewels, preceded by the appropriate resolve.
पुष्परागशतं धेनोः पादयोः परिकल्पयेत्
One should place a hundred topaz gems at the feet of the cow.
भ्रूयुगे विद्रुमशतं शुक्ती कर्णद्वये स्मृते
At the eyebrows, one should place a hundred corals, and at both ears, pearls are to be remembered.
ग्रीवायां नेत्रपुटके गोमेदकशतं तथा
At the neck and in the sockets of the eyes, likewise, a hundred hessonite gems should be set.
स्फाटिकैरुदरं कार्यं सौगन्धिकशतं कटौ
The abdomen should be adorned with crystals, and a hundred fragrant lotuses at the waist.
सूर्यकान्तेन्दुकान्तौ च घ्राणे कर्पूरचन्दनैः
At the nose, sunstone and moonstone, along with camphor and sandalwood, should be placed.
गारुत्मतशतं तद्वदपाने परिकल्पयेत्
In the same way, a hundred green stones should be arranged at the anus.
कुर्याच्छर्करया जिह्वां गोमयं च गुडात्मकम् 4.157.
The tongue should be made with sugar, and the body with cow-dung mixed with jaggery.
पुच्छाग्रे चामरं दद्यात्स्तनयोस्ताम्रदोहनम्
At the tip of the tail, a yak-tail fan should be given, and at the udders, copper vessels for milking.
नानाफलानि पार्श्वेषु कृत्वा पूजां प्रयत्नतः
Various fruits should be placed at the sides, and the worship should be performed with great care.
त्वां सर्वदेवगणवासमिति स्तुवंति रुद्रेन्द्रचन्द्रकमलासनवासुदेवाः
You are praised as the abode of all the hosts of gods by Rudra, Indra, Chandra, Kamala, and Vāsudeva.
एवमामन्त्र्य तां धेनुं विप्राय प्रतिपादयेत्
Having thus invoked her, one should present that cow to a Brāhmaṇa.
ततश्च दक्षिणां दत्त्वा प्रणिपत्य क्षमापयेत्
Then, after giving the prescribed gift, one should bow down and ask for forgiveness.
कल्पकोटिशतं साग्रं शिवलोके सुखं वसेत्
He dwells happily in the world of Shiva for a hundred crore kalpas.
सर्वकामसमृद्धश्च शत्रुपक्षक्षयंकरः
He becomes endowed with all desired enjoyments and brings about the destruction of enemy forces.
इति सकलविधिज्ञो रत्नधेनुप्रदानं वितरति स विमानं प्राप्य देदीप्यमानम्
Thus, the one who knows all the rites and gives the jeweled cow attains a radiant celestial chariot.

उभयमुखीगोदानव्रतवर्णनम् विधिना केन धर्मज्ञं दाने तस्याश्च किं फलम्

प्राप्नुवंति नराः केचित्पुण्यसंभारविस्तराः
Some men attain vast accumulations of merit.
यावत्पादौ योनिगतौ शिरश्चैव प्रदृश्यते
As long as the feet are in the womb and the head is visible.
गौर्यावद्द्विमुखी चैव यदा भवति भारत
O Bhārata, when a cow becomes two-faced, that is, when she turns away from Gaurī.
दत्त्वोभयमुखीं राजन्यत्पुण्यं प्राप्यते नृभिः
By giving a cow with both faces, the merit obtained by men is like that of a king.
किमिष्टैर्बहुभिर्यज्ञैर्दानैर्दत्तैश्च सत्तम
O noble one, what is the use of many sacrifices, gifts, and donations?
एकैव पाति नरकात्सुखमेकैव कारयेत्
A single cow alone saves from hell; a single one alone brings happiness.
