Who have uttered, 'Salutation to Krishna, Acyuta, Ananta, Vasudeva,'
And those who, while giving gifts, have said, 'May Acyuta be pleased,'
He alone is the Lord of all; we are those who act by his command.
Thus, having heard all the words spoken by Yama,
Salutation to Krishna, to Hari, to Vishnu, to the victorious one, salutation!
Salutation to the lotus-eyed one, salutation to the lotus-naveled one,
Salutation always to Govinda, and salutation to him who lies upon the ocean.
To the wielder of the Sharnga bow, to the one with the sharp sword, to the bearer of the conch, discus, and mace,
To the one in the form of Varaha, and to the bearer of the limbs of sacrifice, salutation.
O Vasudeva, salutation to you, salutation to the slayer of Kaitabha!
Salutations to Vāsudeva—when this was uttered by them,
their garments were torn apart, and iron-mouthed beings arose.
Light was born from darkness, together with the rays from hell.
The servants of Yama became dispirited and dull-minded.
A divine, fragrant breeze arose, delightful to the mind.
Then, seeing this, Vaivasvata Yama at that time—
having worshipped them, addressed Kṛṣṇa with joined palms.
O Viṣṇu, god, sustainer of the world, Janārdana, lord of the universe,
to Acyuta, the immeasurable, the one who assumes the form of the dwarf through māyā,
Salutations to Vāsudeva, the wise, of holy fame.
To that Yajña-Varāha, to Viṣṇu of immeasurable brilliance,
Having thus praised Hṛṣīkeśa in the presence of the Lord of Dharma,
Mudgala too, of great wisdom, seeing all this, O king,
remembering the words of Yama and also the greatness of Viṣṇu,
Ah! This māyā of Viṣṇu is extremely difficult to cross, exceedingly deep.
The soul goes to the state of an insect, or is born as a louse or a bug.
Then, attaining the state of an animal, he longs for human birth; and having attained that, deluded by māyā, a man desires supreme prosperity.
Even though it is difficult to cross, that māyā of Kṛṣṇa, the enchantress, is easily overcome.
Thus attaining household life, and thus attaining that supreme state,
enjoying sense objects without conflict, one should take refuge in Viṣṇu.
