रूपं देहि यशो देहि भगं भवति देहि मे
Grant me beauty, grant me fame, grant me fortune, O Lady.
ततः शुक्लांबरधरः शुक्लमाल्यानुलेपनः
Then, wearing white garments and adorned with white garlands and ointments—
एवं विनायकं पूज्य ग्रहांश्चैव विधानतः
In this way, worship Vinayaka and also the planets according to the prescribed method.
आदित्यस्य तथा पूजां तिलकं स्वामिनस्तथा
Likewise, perform the worship of the Sun and apply the tilaka to the Lord.
श्वेतार्कस्य तु यो मूले महागणपतिः कृतः
At the root of the white arka plant, the great Ganapati is established.
संजप्यते शुचौ देशे विघ्नं नात्र हि देहिनः
Recite (his mantra) in a pure place; then, for the embodied, there is no obstacle here.
क्षीणभाग्योऽपि पुरुषः पूजितश्च नरेश्वरः .
Even a man of depleted fortune, or a king who is worshipped—
नक्षत्रहोमविधिवर्णनम् बंधने संनिरोधेङ्गा व्याधीनां संप्रपीडने
On bondage, confinement, and the affliction of diseases—
कथं मोक्षो भवेत्तस्य साध्यासाध्यं ब्रवीहि मे
How can liberation be attained in such cases? Tell me what is possible and impossible.
आधाने जन्मनक्षत्रे नैधनप्रत्ययेषु च
At the time of birth, at the birth star, and at the time of death and its omens—
कृत्तिकासु यदा कश्चिद्व्याधिं संप्रतिपद्यते
When someone falls ill during Krittika—
मृगशीर्षे पञ्चरात्रमार्द्रा प्राणवियोजिनी
In Mrigashirsha, for five nights; in Ardra, there is separation from life.
नवरात्रं तथाश्लेषा श्मशानांतं मघासु च
For nine nights in Ashlesha, and at the end of life in Magha as well.
हस्ते च तनु दृश्येत चित्रायां त्वर्द्धमास कम्
In Hasta, the body is seen; in Chitra, for half a month.
मासद्वयं तथा स्वातौ विशाखा विंशतिर्दिनाः
For two months in Swati, and in Vishakha, for twenty days.
मूलेन जायते मोक्षश्चाषाढासु त्रिपञ्चकम्
By Mula, liberation is attained; in Ashadha, for fifteen days.
धनिष्ठायामर्द्धमासं वारुणे तु दशाहकैः 4.145.
In the Dhanishtha constellation, for half a month, and in Varuna, for ten days—
रेवती दशरात्रं तु अहोरात्रं तथाश्विनी
In Revati, for ten nights, and in Ashvini, for a full day and night—
कौशिकेन समादिष्टो नक्षत्रव्याधिसंभवः
As instructed by Kaushika, diseases arising from constellations—
क्षीरवृक्षस्य समिधो जुहुयादश्वदैवते
One should offer the kindling sticks of the milk-bearing tree to the deities of the horse.
प्राजापत्ये तु जुहुयाद्भोग्यबीजकरं बकम्
For Prajapati, one should offer the edible seed-producing baka plant.
आदित्ये च प्रयत्नेन घृताक्ताः सिततंडुलाः
And for Aditya, with care, rice grains smeared with ghee—
ग्राम्योषधैर्वटपत्रैः सर्पिः सर्पाधिदैवते
With village herbs and banyan leaves, and ghee, to the deity presiding over serpents—
सावित्रे दधिहोमोत्र त्वाष्ट्रं चित्रौदनं हविः
For Savitri, the oblation here is curd; for Tvashtar, the offering is seasoned rice.
यवान्सहाज्येन हुनेद्रौद्रेऽग्नौ तु पयोदनम्
Barley mixed with clarified butter should be offered; in the Rudra fire, milk is the oblation.
नैर्ऋत्ये तिलहोमः स्यादव्यक्ते च हुताशने
In Nairriti, sesame oblation is prescribed, and in Avyakta, to the fire-god.
रक्ताश्च तंडुलाश्चैव होतव्या विष्णुदैवते 4.145.
Red rice, too, should be offered to the deity Vishnu.
अजैकपादे नक्षत्रे प्राजापत्येन तत्समम्
In the Ajaikapada constellation, the same offering as for Prajapati is to be made.
