भूम्यर्थेनृतवादी च क्षत्रियश्च पराङ्मुखः
One who speaks falsely for the sake of land, or a Kshatriya who turns away,
व्रजेच्च तां गतिं क्षिप्रं तच्च पापं भवेत्किल रिपून्विजित्य समरे सह भर्त्रा सुखी भव
He quickly attains that state, and that indeed becomes sin; having conquered your enemies in battle, be happy together with your husband.
पतत्रिराड्वैनतेयस्तथा नारायणध्वजः
The king of birds, Vainateya, and the banner of Narayana,
काश्यपेयोऽमृतो ज्ञेयो नागारिर्विष्णुवाहनः 4.138.
Born of Kashyapa, known as immortal, enemy of serpents, vehicle of Vishnu.
गरुत्मान्मारुतगतिस्त्वयि सन्निहितः स्थितः
Garutman, swift as the wind, stands present near you.
सुप्रतीकोञ्जनो नील एतेऽष्टौ देवयोनयः
Supratika, Anjana, and Nila—these eight are divine lineages.
एतेषां पुत्रपौत्राश्च बलान्यष्टौ समाश्रिताः वनेवने प्रसूतास्ते करियोनिं महागजाः
Their sons and grandsons, these eight strengths have been taken up; born in forest after forest, they are great elephants of the elephant lineage.
पांतु त्वां वसवो रुद्रा आदित्याः समरुद्गणाः
May the Vasus, Rudras, Adityas, and the hosts of Maruts protect you.
अवापुर्हि जयं युद्धे गमने स्वस्ति नो व्रज स्थैर्यं मेरोर्जयं रुद्राद्यशो देवात्पुरंदरात्
They indeed attained victory in battle; may your journey be auspicious for us. May you have the steadiness of Meru, victory from Rudra, and fame from the gods and Purandara.
युद्धे रक्षंतु नागास्त्वां दिशश्च सह दैवतैः
In battle, may the Nagas protect you, and the directions together with the deities.
( इति हस्तिमंत्रः नागकिन्नरगन्धर्वयक्ष भूतगणाग्रहाः
(Thus is the elephant mantra:) The foremost among the hosts of Nagas, Kinnaras, Gandharvas, Yakshas, and spirits,
प्रमथाश्च सहादित्यैर्भूतेशो मातृभिः सह
And the Pramathas together with the Adityas, and the Lord of beings with the Mothers,
प्रदहंतु रिपून्सर्वान्राजा विजयमृच्छतु
May they burn up all enemies; may the king obtain victory.
एतानि परशत्रूणां हतानि तव तेजसा 4.138.
By your radiance, these enemies of yours have been destroyed.
हिरण्यकशिपोर्युद्धे युद्धे देवासुरे तथा
In the battle of Hiranyakashipu, and likewise in the war between gods and demons,
नीलां श्वेतामिमां दृष्ट्वा नश्यंत्वद्य नृपारयः
Seeing these blue and white ones, today, O best of kings, let your enemies perish.
सद्यः स्वस्था भवंति स्म त्वद्वातेनापमार्जिताः
They became healthy at once, cleansed by your wind.
पूतना रेवती नाम्ना कालरात्रीति या स्मृता
Putana, known as Revatī, is remembered as Kālarātri.
(इति पताकामन्त्रः श्रीगर्भो विजयश्चैव धर्मधारस्तथैव च
Thus is the banner-mantra: Śrīgarbha, Vijaya, and Dharmadhāra likewise.
इत्यष्टौ तव नामानि स्वयमुक्तानि वेधसा
These eight names of yours were spoken by the Creator himself.
हिरण्यं च शरीरं ते धाता देवो जनार्दनः
Your body is golden, and the god Dhātā, Janārdana, is its maker.
(इति खड्गमन्त्रः रक्ष मां रक्षणीयोऽहं तव वर्मन्नमोऽस्तु ते
Thus is the sword-mantra: Protect me, I am to be protected; I bow to your path.
( इति वर्ममन्त्रः दुन्दुभे त्वं सपत्नानां घोषाद्धृदयकम्पन
Thus is the armor-mantra: O Dundubhi, by your sound you shake the hearts of enemies.
यथा जीमूतघोषेण हृष्यंति वरवारणाः 4.138.
Just as noble elephants rejoice at the sound of thunderclouds.
यथा जीमूतशब्देन स्त्रीणां त्रासोऽभिजायते
Just as the sound of thunderclouds causes fear among women.
( इति दुंदुभिमंत्रः चाप मां सर्वदा रक्ष साकं सायकसत्तमैः
Thus is the drum-mantra: Bow, always protect me, together with the best arrows.
( इति चापमन्त्रः विष्णुना विधृतो नित्यं मनःशांतिप्रदो भव
Thus is the bow-mantra: Always held by Viṣṇu, bring peace to the mind.
( इति शङ्खमन्त्रः प्रोत्सारयाशु दुरितं चामरामरवल्लभ
Thus is the conch-mantra: Quickly drive away misfortune, O beloved of the gods.
( इति चामरमंत्रः शूलायुधाद्विनिष्कृष्य कृत्वा मुष्टिपरिग्रहम्
Thus is the fly-whisk-mantra: Having removed from the trident weapon, taking it in the fist.
चंडिकायाः प्रदत्तासि सर्वदुष्टनिबर्हिणि
You are given by Caṇḍikā, destroyer of all wickedness.
