She, the royal wife with lotus-like eyes, attained that world along with the king.
The sages say that the giving of lamps is even more meritorious in the courtyards of Brahmins, cows, gods, and one's own home.
Thus ends the one hundred and thirtieth chapter, called 'Description of the Lamp-Giving Ritual,' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira in the Uttara Parva of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
Description of the ritual for releasing the bull.
On the third day of the bright fortnight of Caitra, or on the twelfth day of Vaiśākha—
—together with four cows, one should perform the prescribed rite; now listen to the procedure.
I shall now declare to you the procedure as instructed by Garga.
After that, one should perform the mother’s śrāddha, which always brings prosperity.
There, the learned should recite the mantras and establish the Rudra deity.
Then, one should offer six separate oblations, each with its own designation.
A single-colored, or two-colored, or red, or even white (bull)—
—and four milch cows, adorned together with them—
—with them, let those present play together, their minds filled with joy.
Marked with the conch and discus, and sprinkled with flowers and the like—
—one should release a strong bull, together with blue-colored calves.
Thus has the procedure for releasing the bull been stated by the sage Garga.
Fortunate indeed are those women who release the bull, lord of the herd.
The act of releasing the bull surely purifies ten generations before and ten generations after.
The bull released for the ancestors is said to be inexhaustible.
All that is inexhaustible for his ancestors—of this there is no doubt.
The honey-offerings for his father truly become inexhaustible.
Whatever satisfaction accrues to the ancestors, the bull surpasses that; whether honey or blue sugar, all of it is inexhaustible.
Many sons are to be desired, for even if only one of them goes to Gayā—
—if he does not perform the release of the bull, nor offer water at the holy place—
Whatever ground is struck by the horns or hooves, or whatever the delighted bull does upon seeing his rival, every part of that is pleasing to the one who performs the rite, as if he had entered Indra's assembly.
Thus ends the one hundred and thirty-first chapter, called 'Description of the Rite of Releasing the Bull,' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira in the Uttara-parvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
A festival arises in the world, in every village and every city.
Why, in every house, are children especially noisy at that time?
What is the meaning of the word 'aḍāḍ'? Why is it called 'cold and hot'? What is done during this time, Kṛṣṇa? Tell me this in detail.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: In the Kṛta Yuga, O Pārtha, there was a king among men named Raghu.
