उद्धृतासि वराहेण कृष्णेन शतबाहुना
You were lifted by the boar, by Kṛṣṇa with a hundred arms.
एवं स्नात्वा ततः पश्चादाचम्य च विधानतः
Thus, having bathed, one should then perform ācamana according to the rule.
ततस्तु तर्पणं कुर्यात्त्रैलोक्याप्यायनाय तु क्रूराः सर्वाः सुपर्णाश्च तरक्षा विहगाः खगाः
Then one should perform the offering of water for the nourishment of the three worlds— for all fierce beings, all great birds, demons, and flying creatures.
निराधाराश्च ये जीवाः पापकर्मरताश्च ये
And for those living beings who are without support, and those who delight in sinful deeds,
तेषामाप्यायनायैतद्दीयते सलिलं मया
For their sustenance also, this water is given by me.
मनुष्यांस्तर्पयेद्भक्त्या ब्रह्मपुत्रानृषींस्तथा
With devotion, one should satisfy humans, as well as the sons of Brahma and the sages.
कपिलश्चासुरिश्चैव वोढुः पञ्चशिखस्तथा
Kapila, Asuri, Vodhu, and Pañcashikha as well.
मरीचिमत्र्यङ्गिरसौ पुलस्त्यं पुलहं क्रतुम् 4.123.
Marichi, Atri, Angiras, Pulastya, Pulaha, and Kratu.
देवब्रह्मऋषीन्सर्वांस्तर्पयेताक्षतोदकैः
One should satisfy all the divine sages and Brahmarshis with unbroken water.
अग्निष्वात्ता बर्हिषदो हविष्मंतस्तथोष्मपाः
The Agnishvattas, Barhishads, Havishmats, and Ushmapas,
तर्पयेच्च पितॄन्भक्त्या सतिलोदकचन्दनैः
One should also satisfy the ancestors with devotion, using water mixed with sesame and sandalwood.
पित्रादीन्नामगोत्रेण तथा मातामहानपि
The ancestors and others, by their name and lineage, as well as the maternal grandfathers.
ते तृप्तिमखिला यांतु यश्चास्मत्तोऽभिवाञ्छति
May they all attain complete satisfaction, and whoever desires from us.
ततश्चाचम्य विधिवदालिखेत्पद्ममग्रतः
Then, after sipping water according to the rule, one should draw a lotus in front.
अर्घं दद्यात्प्रयत्नेन सूर्यनामानुकीर्तनैः
With care, one should offer arghya, reciting the names of the Sun.
सहस्ररश्मये नित्यं नमस्ते सर्वतेजसे
Salutation always to the thousand-rayed one, to the all-radiant.
जगत्स्वामिन्नमस्तेऽस्तु दिव्यचंदनभूषित
Salutation to the Lord of the universe, adorned with divine sandalwood.
नमस्ते सर्वलोकेश सर्वासुरनमस्कृत 4.123.
Salutation to the Lord of all worlds, honored by all the gods and demons.
सत्यदेव नमस्तेस्तु सर्वदेव नमोऽस्तु ते
Salutation to Satyadeva; salutation to all the gods, salutation to you.
एवं सूर्यं नमस्कृत्य त्रिःकृत्वा च प्रदक्षिणाम्
Thus, having saluted the Sun and circumambulated three times,
स्नानं खलु प्रतिदिनं कथितं मुनीन्द्रैः पापापहं मलहरं सुखदं सदैव
Indeed, daily bathing has been prescribed by the great sages; it removes sin, dispels impurity, and always brings comfort.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे नित्यस्नानविधिवर्णनं नाम त्रयोर्विशत्युत्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the one hundred and twenty-third chapter, named 'Description of the Procedure for Daily Bathing,' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, in the Uttaraparvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
रुद्रस्नानविधिवर्णनम् सर्वदुष्टोपशमनं सर्वशांतिप्रदं नृणाम्
The description of the procedure for Rudra's bath: it pacifies all evils and grants complete peace to people.
अगस्त्यो मुनिशार्दूलः सुखासीनमुवाच ह
Agastya, the foremost among sages, spoke while seated comfortably.
सर्वज्ञोऽसि कुमार त्वं प्रसादाच्छङ्करस्य वै
O Kumāra, you are all-knowing, truly by the grace of Śaṅkara.
या सुते दुहितां वंध्या स्नानमासां विधीयते
For a woman who is childless, the rite of bathing is prescribed for the birth of a son or daughter.
अष्टम्यां वा चतुर्दश्यामुपवासपरायणा
On the eighth or fourteenth day, one should be devoted to fasting.
नद्योस्तु सङ्गमे कुर्यान्महानद्योर्विशेषतः
One should perform it at the confluence of rivers, especially at the meeting of great rivers.
आहिताग्निं द्विजं शांतं धर्मज्ञं सत्यशीलिनम्
A calm, fire-ritual-performing twice-born, who knows dharma and is truthful, should be engaged.
ततस्तु मंडपं कुर्याच्चतुरस्रमुदग्गतम्
Then, one should construct a pavilion, square in shape and facing north.
