पूजितं चापि कुसुमैर्हृद्यैर्धूपैस्तु धूपितम्
It should be worshipped with pleasing flowers and purified with incense.
खर्जूरैर्नालिकेरैश्च कूष्मांडैस्त्रपुषैरपि
With dates, coconuts, gourds, and tin vessels,
वृंताकैर्दाडिमैश्चैव नारंगैः कदलीफलैः
With eggplants, pomegranates, oranges, and bananas,
नानाप्रकारैर्भक्ष्यैश्च गोभिर्वस्त्रै रसैः शुभैः
With various kinds of food, cows, garments, and auspicious liquids,
सौवर्णरौप्यपात्रेण ताम्रवंशमयेन च
In vessels of gold, silver, copper, and bamboo,
दक्षिणाभिमुखो भूत्वा ह्यर्घ्यपाद्यादिकं च यत्
Facing south, one should offer arghya, water for washing the feet, and other items as appropriate.
काशपुष्पप्रतीकाश अग्निमारुतसंभव ६५. रक्तो वल्लभदेवर्षे लंकावास नमोऽस्तु ते ।। 4.118.
Resembling the kāśa flower, born of fire and wind, red one, beloved sage of the gods, resident of Lanka, I bow to you.
वातापिर्भक्षितो येन समुद्राः शोषिताः पुरा
By whom Vātāpi was consumed and the oceans were once dried up,
येनोदितेन पापानि प्रलयं यांति व्याधयः ब्राह्मणो वेदऋचया दद्यादर्घ्यं नमोऽस्तु ते
By whose utterance sins and diseases are destroyed, the brāhmaṇa should offer arghya with Vedic recitation; I bow to you.
अगस्त्यः खनमानश्च नित्यं प्राजापत्यं बलिमिच्छमानः ' दत्त्वैवमर्घ्यं कौंतेय प्रतिपूज्य च पुष्पकैः
Agastya, always digging and desiring the prājāpatya offering, having given arghya in this way, O son of Kunti, should be worshipped with flowers.
दैवज्ञव्यासरूपाय वेदवेदांगवादिने फलमेकं तथा धान्यं कोपं वासं परित्यजेत्
To the one who is in the form of the astrologer Vyāsa, who teaches the Vedas and their limbs, one should offer a fruit, some grain, and renounce anger and clothing.
संपूर्णे च ततो वर्षे पुनर न्यदुपक्रमेत् पुमान्फलमवाप्नोति तदेकाग्रमनाः शृणु
When the year is complete, one should begin again; a man who does so with focused mind obtains the desired fruit. Listen.
ब्राह्मणश्चतुरो वेदान्सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः
A brāhmaṇa who is thoroughly versed in the four Vedas and all the scriptures—
वैश्योऽप्यायुष्यमाप्नोति गोधनं चापि नंदति
Even a vaiśya attains long life and his wealth in cattle flourishes.
स्त्रीणां पुत्राः प्रजायंते सौभाग्यं वृद्धिऋद्धिमत्
Women bear sons, and their good fortune and prosperity increase.
कन्या भर्तारमाप्नोति व्याधेर्मुच्येत दुःखितः
A maiden obtains a husband, and one who is afflicted is freed from disease and sorrow.
येषु देशेष्वगस्त्यर्षेः पूजनं क्रियते जनैः 4.118.
In those places where people perform worship of the sage Agastya—
ईतयः प्रशमं यांति नश्यंति व्याध यस्तथा
Calamities are pacified there, and diseases likewise perish.
ते सर्वे पापनिर्मुक्ताश्चिरं स्थित्वा महीतले
All those people, freed from sin, remain long upon the earth.
मर्त्यो यदीच्छति गृहं परमर्द्धियुक्तं भोगशरीरमरुजं पशुपुत्रपुष्टिम्
If a mortal desires a home endowed with supreme prosperity, a healthy body, and abundance of cattle and children—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे ऽगस्त्यार्घ्यविधिव्रतवर्णनं नामाष्टादशोत्तरशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue of Śrī Krishna and Yudhishthira, the one hundred and eighteenth chapter named 'Description of the Vow and Offering to Agastya' is concluded.
अभिनवचन्द्रार्घ्यव्रतवर्णनम् शृणुष्वाभिनवस्येंदोरुदयेऽर्घ्यविधिं परम्
Hear now the supreme method of offering to the New Moon, at the rising of the new moon.
रविर्द्वादशभिर्भागैर्वारुण्यां दृश्यते यदि
If the sun is seen in the sign of Varuṇa, divided into twelve parts—
द्वितीयायां सिते पक्षे संध्याकाले ह्युपस्थिते
On the second day of the bright fortnight, when evening arrives—
गोमयं मंडलं कृत्वा चंदनेन सुशोभितम्
One should make a circle of cow dung, beautifully adorned with sandalwood.
पुष्पचन्दनधूपैश्च दीपाक्षतजलैः शुभैः
With flowers, sandalwood, incense, auspicious lamps, grains of rice, and water—
मंत्रेणानेन राजेन्द्र क्षत्रियः सपुरोहितः आप्यायस्व समेत्वेवं सोमराज नमोनमः
With this mantra, O King, the kṣatriya together with his priest should say: 'Be nourished, O King Soma, I bow to you.'
अनेनविधिनाचार्यं सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
By this rite, O teacher, all desired results are bestowed.
स कीर्त्या यशसा कांत्या धन्यश्च भुवि मानवः
A man on earth becomes renowned, glorious, radiant, and blessed.
स्थित्वा वर्षशतं मर्त्ये ततः सोमपुरं व्रजेत् वरस्त्रीभिः सहात्यर्थं यावदाभूतसंप्लवम्
Having lived a hundred years among mortals, he then goes to the realm of Soma, enjoying with excellent women until the end of the world.
