भक्तिमत्यो वरारोहास्तदा देवकुलेषु च
Those of you who are devoted, O beautiful ones, then also in the temples of the gods—
तेषां गृहेषु तिष्ठध्वं सूतकं चापि तत्समम्
Dwell in their houses, and observe the period of impurity accordingly.
अनुमान्यः प्रसाद्यश्च शुल्कदो देववत्सदा
He must be permitted and pleased, and always give a fee like a god.
सुरूपो वा विरूपो वा द्रव्यं तत्र प्रयोजनम् न चापि मद्यपाभिश्च भाव्यं कौटिल्यबुद्धिभिः
Whether handsome or ugly, wealth is what matters there; and one should not associate with drunkards or those of crooked mind.
यः कश्चिच्छुल्कमादाय गृहमेष्यति वः सदा
Whoever comes to your house after accepting a fee,
व्यभिचारो न कर्तव्यः स्वामिना सह कर्हिचित्।। रूपयौवनदर्पेण धनलोभेन वा पुनः
Adultery must never be committed with the master, whether out of pride in beauty or youth, or again from greed for wealth.
दासी भूत्वा च या काचिद्व्यभिचारं करोति च
And any woman who, having become a servant, commits adultery,
देवतानां पितॄणां च पुण्येऽह्नि समुपस्थिते 4.111.
When the auspicious day for the gods and ancestors arrives,
ब्राह्मणेभ्यो वरारोहाः कार्याणि वचनानि च ।। यच्चाप्यन्यद्व्रतं सम्यगुपदेक्ष्यामि तत्त्वतः.
Beautiful women should serve the Brahmins and heed their words; and whatever other vow there is, I will instruct it properly.
अविचारेण सर्वाभिरनुष्ठेयं च तत्पुनः
All these should be performed by all, without discrimination.
भवेत्सर्वौषधिस्नानं सम्यङ्नारी समाचरेत्
A woman should properly perform the bathing with all medicinal herbs.
तदा पञ्चशरस्यापि संनिधातृत्वमेष्यति
Then, even the lord of the five arrows will become present.
मेढ्रं कदर्पनिधये कटिं प्रीतियुजे नमः
Salutation to the penis, repository of desire; to the waist, joined with affection.
नाभिं सौख्यसमुद्राय वामनाय तथोदरम्
Salutation to the navel, ocean of pleasure; to the dwarf, and likewise to the abdomen.
उत्कंठायेति वै कंठमास्यमानन्दजाय च
For longing, to the throat; and to the mouth, source of bliss.
नमोऽनन्ताय वै मौलिं विलोलायेति च ध्वजम्
Salutation to the endless one; to the head, to the restless one, and to the banner.
नमः श्रीपतये तार्क्ष्यध्वजांकुशधराय च नमो नारायणायेति कामदेवात्मने नमः
Salutation to the lord of fortune, bearer of the Garuda-banner and the goad; salutation to Narayana, who is the soul of Kamadeva.
नमः शांत्यै नमः प्रीत्यै नमो रत्यै नमः श्रिये 4.111.
Salutation to peace, salutation to affection, salutation to pleasure, salutation to prosperity.
एवं संपूज्य गोविन्दमनंगात्मकमीश्वरम्
Thus, having worshipped Govinda, the lord whose essence is desire,
अत्र चाहूय धर्मज्ञं ब्राह्मणं वेदपारगम्
Here, summon a Brahmin who knows righteousness and is versed in the Vedas.
शालेयतंडुलप्रस्थं घृतपात्रेण संयुतम्
Give a prastha of rice from Śāli, accompanied by a vessel of ghee.
यथेष्टाहारभुक्तं च तमेव द्विजसत्तमम्
And to that excellent twice-born who has eaten as he wishes, give the same.
यद्यदिच्छति विप्रेन्द्रस्तत्तत्कुर्याद्विलासिनी
Whatever the learned Brahmin desires, the graceful woman should do accordingly.
एवमादित्यवारेण सदा तद्व्रतमाचरेत्
In this way, on Sundays, she should always observe that vow.
ततस्त्रयोदशे मासि संप्राप्ते तस्य भामिनी
Then, when the thirteenth month arrives, that radiant woman,
सोपधानकविश्रामां स्वास्तरावरणां शुभाम्
should prepare a pure resting place with a pillow and a beautiful coverlet.
सपत्नीकमलंकृत्य हेमसूत्राङ्गुलीयकैः
She should adorn herself and her co-wife with golden rings and ornaments.
कामदेवं सपत्नीकं गुडकुंभोपरि स्थितम् 4.111.
She should place Kāma, together with his consort, upon a pot filled with jaggery.
सकांस्यभाजनोपेतमिक्षुदण्डसमन्वितम्
With bronze vessels and a sugarcane stick, she should complete the arrangement.
यथांतरं न पश्यामि कामकेशवयोः सदा
May I never see any separation between Kāma and Keśava.
