नक्षत्रपुरुषाख्योऽयं यथावत्कथितस्तव
This Nakshatra-Purusha has been described to you as it truly is.
अङ्गोपाङ्गानि चैवास्य पादादीनि यशस्विनि
His limbs and sub-limbs, beginning with the feet, O illustrious one,
गात्राणि चैव भद्राणि शरीरारोग्यमुत्तमम्
And also his auspicious body parts, bestow supreme bodily health.
वाङ्माधुर्यं तथा कांतिं यच्चान्यदपि वांछितम् 4.108.
Sweetness of speech, radiance, and whatever else is desired.
वशिष्ठेन यथाख्यातं सर्वं तत्ते निवेदितम्

हृद्बाहुजानुनयनोरुनितंबभागं दक्षैः प्रकल्प्य सुतनुं पुरुषोत्तमस्य

नक्षत्राख्यव्रतवर्णनम् अनभ्यासेन योगाद्वा किमिष्टं व्रतमुच्यते

शिवस्योपरि यस्य स्याद्भक्तिः सूर्यस्य संभवेत्
He whose devotion is directed to Shiva, that devotion may also be towards the Sun.
अस्मिन्व्रते तदप्यत्र श्रूयतामक्षयं महत्

शिवनक्षत्रपुरुषं शिवभक्तिप्रदायकम्
The Shiva Nakshatra-Purusha grants devotion to Shiva.
फाल्गुनस्यामले पक्षे यदा हस्तः प्रजायते
When the Hasta constellation arises in the bright half of Phalguna,
शिवा येति च हस्तेन पादौ पूज्यतमौ स्मृतौ
It is said that on that day, with Hasta, the feet are to be worshipped.
भीमायेति च स्वातीषु पूजयेत्पुरुषर्षभ
And when Bhima and Swati occur, O best of men, one should perform worship.
मेढ्रं चैवानुराधासु अनङ्गाङ्गहराय च
And the phallus in Anuradha, to the remover of the limbs of desire.
दानाख्याय नमो नाभिः पूज्या मूलेन शूलिनः
With the navel, one should salute Dāna, and worship the root of the trident-bearer.
श्रवणेन तथा कुक्षी पूज्ये कपालिनेति च 4.109.
With the ear and also the abdomen, one should worship Kapālin thus.
वामेति पूजयेत्पार्थ हृदयं शतभिषासु च
On the left side, O Partha, the heart is to be worshipped in Shatabhisha.
पूज्यं रुद्राय च तथा रेवतीषु करद्वयम्
The two hands are to be worshipped for Rudra in Revati likewise.
भरणीषु ततः पृष्ठं वृषांकाय नमोऽस्तु ते

ब्राह्मणान्भोजयेद्भक्त्या गुडक्षीर घृतादिभिः
One should feed Brahmins with devotion, with jaggery, milk, ghee, and the like.
