Then, in a bamboo vessel, wrap them with a pair of cloths.
Let it be made of gold, or of clay, or according to one's ability, of silver.
With devotion, one should worship Savitri together with Brahma in this way.
With ripe kośātaka fruits, edible items, kūṣmāṇḍa gourds, and karkaṭī melons,
With jambū fruits, jambīra lemons, nāraṅga oranges, karkaṭa melons, and jackfruits as well,
With sprouted seven grains, arranged in the bamboo vessel,
Savitri, beloved of Brahma, is called Avatāravatī; the mantra spoken here is as stated in the Purāṇas.
O goddess, preceded by Om, holding the vina and book,
Having thus worshipped according to the procedure, one should then keep vigil.
One should spend the night with dance and laughter, and with stories told from behind, until the time of dawn, together with songs and expressions of emotion.
Then, at dawn, when the pure morning hour arrives,
As is known in the Savitri ritual, and as is spoken in the Savitri narrative,
With this mantra, O son of Kunti, bowing according to the procedure, the wise, excellent Brahmin, with Om and auspiciousness at the beginning,
I have given the Savitri, along with gold, O great and virtuous lady.
Having thus given Savitri to the chief of the twice-born, O Yudhishthira, one should himself walk ten steps and then re-enter his own house.
There, having eaten sacrificial food together with Brahmins and relatives,
On the fifteenth day in the month of Jyeshtha, the great and virtuous woman at the banyan tree—
Together with Satyavati, the virtuous lady, with offerings of fruit, food, and lamps—
Keeping vigil at night, accompanied by dance and song, she should give all this to a Brahmin, bowing down and asking forgiveness.
Thus, this vow has been described to you by me according to the proper method; after enjoying pleasures on earth for a long time, they will attain the abode of Brahman.
This is meritorious, removes sin, brings good fortune, and destroys bad dreams.
One should worship the mother of the Vedas, for the sake of remembrance, together with Shambhu's wife, here, having fasted for three nights.
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira, the one hundred and second chapter named 'Description of the Vat Savitri Vow' concludes.
Description of the Kartika-Krittika vow: By name, she is called Kalinga-Bhadra, endowed with beauty and charm.
She has high breasts, lotus-like eyes, and moves with the grace of a swan and an elephant.
Filled with wealth and jewels, in the central region at Vrishasthala, Kalinga-Bhadra, the charming great goddess, is endowed with virtues.
She considered the great offering with utmost respect.
In generosity, enjoyment, and good fortune, there was no second like her.
And just as in the month of Kartika she undertook the Kshattriya vow, she completed it entirely, with only a little remaining.
Whether at the time of breaking the fast or not, in the presence of a learned Brahmin who knows the Puranas—
