Just as I do not perceive any distinction among Shiva, Vishnu, the Sun, and the Lotus-born.
Having thus spoken, and having adorned all that with ornaments, if one is unable, then only the fruits as prescribed should be given.
In the same way, with a water pot, the golden rites of Shiva should be performed, and according to one's ability, other excellent Brahmins should also be fed.
If one is unable to renounce, then indeed all the fruits are lost.
O best of kings, this vow of renunciation is to be performed by cows, Vaishnava yogis, and women, according to their ability.
There is nothing else in this world or the next beyond this.
For as many atoms as are in gold, silver, and copper, for that many thousands of ages one is honored in the realm of Rudra.
O lord of men, this always serves to remove all sins of people for their entire lives.
Whoever hears this, whether a man of little wealth or a Brahmin, or among the righteous in their homes—
The description of the vow of the full moon: That day on which the moon is full is known as the full moon day.
And on the full moon day, a battle took place marked by victory.
The moon was attached to Tara, whose husband is Brihaspati.
Whose daughter is Tara, and from whom did she become angry, along with the destroyer of the enemies of the gods?
She, the most beautiful on earth, was given to Brihaspati.
She became the wife of the preceptor of the gods, of such an indescribable nature.
She served Brihaspati just as other women serve their husbands at times.
The moon, upon seeing her, came under the sway of desire.
Tara, skilled in gestures and expressions, understood the intentions of Soma.
O gentle one, you are the son of the sage Angiras and the lord of Soma; the union you have with the gentle one is wondrous and great, and has been accomplished.
Indeed, Angiras, together with the gods, asuras, and rakshasas, once—
How is it, O lord of the night, that you are now afflicted by desire? I am devoted to another; may good befall you, O best of the wise, I am not to be approached.
Thus addressed, he likewise did not do that.
But Brihaspati, having understood her, reproached Soma.
Then, after a long time, Brihaspati, of noble intellect, realized the truth.
He reported everything to Indra regarding Soma's actions.
But Soma did not take heed, and then the lord of the gods became aware.
Hearing this, the gods and Gandharvas, blinded by anger, became agitated in mind.
Soma, knowing the gods were preparing and firmly resolved on action—
Mounted the best of chariots and set his mind solely on battle.
With spears, the earth-demons, and the Kauṇapas shattered the gods and Indra's forces, while the night-maker rained down gold.
