Knowing that he had become stained by heat, he was gladdened in mind.
Having become tainted by heat, Agni will bear the embryo.
The merit seen by the knowers of Brahman lies in the protection of the sacred fire.
Having shown favor to the lineage, they then spoke of the offering to the goddess.
Again, after some time, Agni regained his own fiery nature.
At what time, on which lunar day, did he again regain his fiery nature?
Previously, there was a great conflict between Utathya and Angiras. When Utathya spoke thus, Angiras addressed that sage.
Let us go to the abode of Brahma, together with the twice-born led by Marichi. Utathya, his mind firm, spoke to those noble Brahmin sages.
Let it be clearly told to us: who among us is the greater?
Then the sage Brahma spoke to both, whose minds were agitated.
I now see a dispute between you two, having come together with them.
The guardians of the worlds—Mahendra and others, Yama, Varuna, and Anila—
Gandharvas, Kubera, destroyers of demons, Rakshasas, Daityas, and Danavas—
Having seen all the divine beings, Brahma spoke to those sages.
Thus addressed, Utathya went to the solar orb.
Then he spoke to Utathya: 'How, O Brahmin, shall I go?'
Thus addressed, the sage proceeded to the assembly of all the gods.
Brahma said to Angiras: 'Quickly bring him here.'
Come, come, O revered Surya; you are burned by him every day.
After standing for a moment, he spoke: 'What task has arisen?'
Go quickly, for Angiras will not burn the world as long as you are gone.
Red, green, crimson, and white—these colors have been destroyed; all has been burned by Angiras, and he will burn it again.
As long as Angiras burns the whole world with his austerity—
Thus addressed by the Lord, he ascended to his own place.
Having gone, Angiras spoke: 'Having arrived, what should I do?'
They praised him and said, 'You, Agni, perform your duty on earth for now.'
Until we see Agni, where is he lost, where does he reside?
As Agni was seen by the gods, all of that has been reported to you.
Agni, assume your own form; Angiras, as before, do likewise.
Who has taken away my brilliance? By whom has my status as Agni been assumed here?
