Thus ends the ninety-first chapter, named 'Description of the Pālī-vrata,' in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, in the Uttara-parvan of the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa.
The description of the Rambhā-vrata, as once sung by Devala in the presence of the assembly of divine sages.
Worshipped by groups of Apsarases, Gandharvas, and all the gods; on the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight, in the month of Bhādrapada, O king,
Arghya is offered by noble women with various auspicious fruits,
With curd, sacred grass, rice grains, cloths, and offerings cooked in ghee,
With bananas, sugarcane, and plantain stems—thus it is declared here.
With this mantra, arghya is also offered—listen, O king: 'Grant me, O goddess, health, beauty of body; salutations to you.'
Thus, O king, a devoted man or king who worships in this way,
In his lineage, there will never be a woman of ill repute,
Nor a wanton woman, nor a courtesan, nor one who remarries, nor one who is unchaste.
A woman who never deviates from her vow to her husband is born; she lives long, is renowned, and enjoys happiness on earth for a hundred years.
The vow of Rambhā was performed once by Gāyatrī, who resides in heaven.
Likewise, in Śvetadvīpa by Lakṣmī, and by the queen in the solar realm.
By Sītā Devī in Ayodhyā, and by Vedavatī in the Himalayas.
O king among rulers, this vow is to be observed in the month of Bhādrapada, during the bright fortnight.
Those who worship the beautiful form with broken stalks of banana, flowers, rice, incense, and lamps—
Thus, in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Uttaraparva, in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, is the ninety-second chapter named 'Rambhā Vow.'
Description of the Āgneyī Caturdaśī Vow. At that time, the fire-god was lost, but later regained existence.
By whom was the state of fire created there, and how was the fire known?
They asked the creator of the universe, 'Who will slay Tāraka?'
He spoke, having meditated for a long time, Rudra born of Umā and Śukra.
Having heard thus, the gods went to where Śambhu was with Umā.
That which was accepted by Rudra together with Umā.
A divine hundred years, with a little more, passed in union; then great fear arose among the gods.
He who is born of Rudra will indeed be of great strength.
By what time does the cessation of union occur for those two?
The two departed, and were seen by Umā, standing together and standing apart.
Because of them, an obstacle arose for me regarding offspring for the gods.
Then at that time, the god spoke quietly to all the assembled gods.
Thus addressed by Rudra, Agni vanished from the gathering of the gods.
