In Karttika, one should worship Vishveshvara with all kinds of flowers.
He is the restrainer and the cause of madness, the lord of all the worlds.
Thus, at the end of the year, when this excellent vow has been completed,
If there is an obstacle to the vow, whether due to inability or impurity,
Then, having performed as previously described, one should make a golden image of Shiva.
Covering it with a white cloth, and worshipping it with flowers and offerings,

Some peaceful ones desire this; according to ability, one should also give a gift.
O king, with flowers, lamps, and food, for the god of gods,
One should give to the devotees of Shiva, with a purified inner self.

When the month of Bhadrapada arrives, on the bright lunar day, O king,
By Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras, and also by women,
With flowers, fruits, as well as cloth, lamps, lac dye, and sandalwood,
With dates, coconuts, and fruits filled with seeds,

Having drawn the deity Varuṇa, accompanied by the goddess Vāruṇī, within a circle,
Salutations to you, Varuṇa; salutations to you, Lord of the aquatic beings.
May there be no dampness, nor foul odor, nor tastelessness in my mouth.
Thus, whoever worships Varuṇa and his abode with devotion,
Whether of the four castes or a woman, O Pāṇḍava, by this vow,
Thus, O Pārtha, whoever performs this excellent Pālī-vrata,
Approaching a large, pure, and abundant reservoir of water, surrounded by many trees,
