वरमेकापि वरदा कृतानंगत्रयोदशी
Even a single observance of the Anaṅga-Trayodaśī vow grants blessings.
सौभाग्यारोग्यजयदा सर्वातंकनिवारिणी
It bestows beauty, health, victory, and wards off all afflictions.
शृणुष्व तां महाबाहो कथयामि सविस्तरम्
Listen, O mighty-armed one, I will describe it to you in detail.
भस्मीभूतेन लोकानां संकल्पिता पुरानघ
It was established for the worlds when they were reduced to ashes, O sinless one.
हेमंते समनुप्राप्ते मासि मार्गशिरे शुभे
When winter arrives, in the auspicious month of Mārgashīrsha,
स्नानं नद्यां तडागे च गृहे वा नियतात्मवान्
One should bathe in a river, pond, or at home, with self-restraint.
धूपदीपैः सनैवेद्यैः पुष्पैः कालोद्भवैस्तथा
With incense, lamps, offerings, and flowers of the season,
अनंगनाम्ना संपूज्य मधु प्राश्य स्वपेन्निशि 4.90.
Worship Anaṅga by name, taste honey, and sleep at night.
धूपं सुगंधिं दद्याच्च रक्तपुष्पैस्तु पूजनम्
Offer fragrant incense and worship with red flowers.
मधुवत्स्यात्समधुरः कामरूपधरस्तथा
One becomes sweet like honey and assumes the form of desire.
पुष्यमासस्य चैवोक्तं चंदनं प्राशयन्निशि
In the month of Puṣya, it is said, one should taste sandalwood at night.
नैवेद्यं घृतपूराश्च दमशान्तास्तु ताः स्त्रियः
Offerings of ghee and sweets are made; those women are restrained and peaceful.
राजसूयस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोत्यनुत्तमम्
She attains the highest reward of the Rājasūya sacrifice.
नैवेद्यं क्षीरखण्डाद्यैर्मौक्तिकं प्राशयेन्निशि
Offerings of milk and sugar are given; pearls are tasted at night.
मुक्ताचूर्णनिभैर्नेत्रैर्यद्वा स्यात्तद्वदेव हि
Her eyes resemble powdered pearls, or whatever else may be similar.
तप्त जांबूनदाभासो भवेद्दिव्यतनुर्महान्
Her great, divine body shines with the radiance of molten gold.
फाल्गुने मासि संपूज्य देवदेवं हरेश्वरम्
In the month of Phalguna, one should worship the god of gods, Hara Ishvara.
कंकोलं प्राशयेद्रात्रौ सौंदर्यमतुलं लभेत् 4.90.
At night, one should consume kankola; he will obtain incomparable beauty.
नैवेद्यं धूपकं दद्याद्घृतखण्डविपाचितम्
One should offer as naivedya and incense a preparation cooked with ghee and sugar.
चन्द्रश्च चन्द्रकांतिश्च चन्द्रवर्त्यहरावृते
The moon, moonlight, and moon-shaped wicks should be offered to Hara.
वैशाखे च महारूपं पुष्पैर्नौमालिकार्चनम्
In the month of Vaishakha, one should worship the great form with garlands of flowers.
जातीफलं तु संप्राश्य जातिमाप्नोत्यनुत्तमाम्
Having consumed nutmeg, one attains the highest excellence of birth.
गोसहस्रफलं प्राप्य ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
Obtaining the merit of a thousand cows, one is honored in the world of Brahma.
नैवेद्यं खण्डवर्तिं च लवंगं प्राशयेन्निशि
One should offer as naivedya a preparation of sugar and camphor, and at night consume clove.
सर्व सौख्यसमोपेतः स्थित्वा भुवि शतं समाः
Endowed with all kinds of happiness, he lives a hundred years on earth.
आषाढे चैव संप्राप्ते उमाभर्तारमर्चयेत्
When Ashadha arrives, one should worship the husband of Uma.
तिलोत्तमा रूपधरा सुखी स्याच्छरदः शतम्
Assuming the form of Tilottama, endowed with beauty, one becomes happy for a hundred autumns.
नैवेद्यं लड्डुकान्दद्यात्कृष्णांश्च प्राशयेत्तिलान् 4.90.
One should offer as naivedya sweet balls and at night consume black sesame seeds.
तदंते राजराजः स्याच्छत्रुपक्ष क्षयंकरः
After that, he becomes a king of kings, causing the destruction of enemy forces.
नैवेद्यं सोलिकां दद्यात्प्राशयेदगुरुं निशि
One should offer as naivedya solika and at night consume aguru.
