Just as Lakshmi, O Lord of the gods, never departs from you,
Just as Lakshmi, when separated from the god, is never seen anywhere,
By meditating with this mantra, together with a sweet cow,
One should worship with karavīra flowers, a fresh arrow, an unwithering earring, kadamba flowers, saffron, jasmine, and other offerings.
What form, with which mantra, should it be given? Let that be spoken here.
Now I shall declare that which destroys all sins.
A four-handed black antelope skin should first be placed on the ground.
With what is obtained, one should similarly arrange gold and a calf.
The best sweet cow should always have fourfold weight; the calf should be a quarter of that, according to the wealth of the house.
These two, the cow and calf, should be made, clothed in fine white garments.
With white-threaded heads and white blankets as coverings,
With coral eyebrows, endowed with butter-filled udders,
With golden horn ornaments and silver hooves; having thus fashioned them, one should worship with incense and lamps.
That Lakshmi who belongs to all beings, and who is established among the gods,
That Lakshmi who is on Vishnu's chest, and in the offering to fire,
That Lakshmi of the four-faced one, and that Lakshmi of the lord of wealth,
You are svadhā for the chief ancestors, and svāhā again for the eaters of sacrifice.
Having thus invoked that cow, one should give it to a Brahmin.
The ten cows that are heard of as destroyers of sin—
The first is the jaggery cow, the second is the ghee cow,
The fifth is the water cow, the sixth arises from milk; the ninth is the essence cow, and the tenth is by its own form.
Among the ten cows, there are pots; the rest are heaps.
Always accompanied by invocation mantras, on every festival and holy day,
All of these have been explained by me in connection with the jaggery cow.
Among vows, the best is the Viśoka Dvādaśī vow.
At the solstice, the equinox, or again at the time of Vyatipāta,
This Viśoka Dvādaśī is auspicious and removes all sins.
In this world, it brings good fortune, long life, and health.
O knower of dharma, one obtains ten thousand and eight thousand years in heaven.
Whether a woman or anyone else performs this Viśoka Dvādaśī for me,
