Tell me, what should be done there so that the result is flawless?
Listen as I speak: imperfection is pacified when, having performed the fast, one worships Janardana, the Lord of the gods.
Having bathed, one should address Nārāyaṇa, and likewise, while eating, remember Nārāyaṇa.
Having bathed in the five products of the cow, with a purified mind and controlled senses, one should then recite this before Lord Hari.
Whatever imperfect vow I have performed in seven lifetimes—
Just as you, O Supreme Person, are the whole and undivided universe—
The first breaking of the fast is prescribed even after four months.
In the months beginning with Caitra, the breaking of the fast is four times more meritorious.
In the months beginning with Śrāvaṇa and ending with Kārttika, the breaking of the fast is prescribed.
A vessel of gold, silver, copper, or clay is considered suitable.
In this way, at the end of the year, one who has mastered his senses should honor the brāhmaṇas.
By giving garments and ornaments, and by bowing down, one should seek their forgiveness.
Thus, whoever properly observes the uninterrupted Dvādaśī according to what is right—
Any imperfection in the vow that may have occurred in seven lifetimes—
Therefore, O virtuous one, this should be undertaken with effort by men and women—
Those who perform the uninterrupted Dvādaśī vow, renowned as the supreme path, by whomsoever it is accomplished—
Thus, in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira, the seventy-ninth chapter named 'Description of the Akhaṇḍa Dvādaśī Vow' is concluded.
The description of the Manoratha Dvādaśī vow: Whether a man or a woman, having duly worshipped the Lord of the universe—
Uttering the name of Hari with devotion and a mind full of feeling, O Yudhiṣṭhira—
Then, on the next day, when Dvādaśī arrives, with self-restraint, one should worship Hari—
And, with Hari as the aim, one should perform the ritual of offering ghee into the fire—
Having pleased the earth, which is situated in the netherworld, by means of desires—
Having worshipped him, one attains heaven and all desires—
Having obtained new and delightful desires, O son of Pāṇḍu, one should partake of the sacrificial food with proper effort—
In the months of Phālguna, Caitra, Vaiśākha, and Jyeṣṭha, O noble one—
One should perform worship for four months with red flowers—
Sacrificial food should be offered as naivedya, and one should also eat it oneself—
Jāti flowers, incense, and the best resin from the sāl tree are recommended, O king—
One should eat that very offering oneself, and perform the remainder as before—
If fragrant, incense should be offered at will, and worship performed with the bhṛṅgāra vessel—
