या च श्रवणसंयुक्ता द्वादशी परमा तिथिः
And that supreme twelfth day, joined with the hearing, is the best lunar date.
एवं संपूज्य यत्नेन प्रभाते विमले सति
Thus, having worshipped with effort, when the pure morning arrives—
ब्राह्मणश्चापि मन्त्रेण प्रतिगृह्णीत मंत्रवत्
The Brahmin, too, should accept with mantra, as prescribed by mantra.
( ॐ गुह्ये । ॐ शिरसि । ॐ पादयोः । ॐ नाभौ ।। ॐ भुजयोः । ॐ सर्वांगे । सर्वात्मने नमः नरो दद्यादुपोष्यैवमेकादश्यां समंत्रकम्
(Om to the secret place; Om to the head; Om to the feet; Om to the navel; Om to the arms; Om to the whole body; Salutations to the all-pervading one.) A man should give, having fasted thus on the eleventh day, with mantra.
पूर्वोक्तविधिना प्रातर्भोजनं पृषदाज्यकम्
According to the previously stated procedure, the morning meal should be with barley and clarified butter.
भूयोभूयोऽपि राजेंद्र सर्वत्रैवं विधिः स्मृतः
Again and again, O king, this rule is remembered everywhere.
चतुर्युगानि राजेंद्र एकसप्ततिसंख्यया 4.76.
O king, the four ages are counted as seventy-one in number.
इहागत्य भवेद्राजा प्रतिपक्षक्षयंकरः
Having come here, the king becomes the destroyer of adversaries.
रूपसौभाग्यसंपन्नो दीर्घायुर्नीरुजो भवेत्
One endowed with beauty and good fortune becomes long-lived and free from disease.
एतस्याः फलमाख्यातमेकादश्या मया तव
I have declared to you the fruit of this Ekadashi.
उपोष्यैकादशीं पश्चाद्द्वादशीमप्युपोषयेत्
After observing Ekadashi, one should also observe Dwadashi.
(एकादशीद्वादश्योरन्यतरस्यां श्रवणयुक्तायां श्रवणयुक्तोपवासेनैव बतद्वयसिद्धिः बुधश्रवणसंयुक्ता द्वादशी संगमोदकम्
When either Ekadashi or Dwadashi falls with Shravan, by fasting with Shravan, the benefit of both is attained; when Dwadashi coincides with Wednesday and Shravan, it is called Sangamodaka.
सगरेण ककुत्स्थेन धुंधुमारेण गाधिना
With Sagara, Kakutstha, Dhundhumara, and Gadhi.
सा द्वादशी बुधयुता श्रवणेन साकं स्याद्वै जयाय कथिता ऋषिभिर्नभस्ये
That Dwadashi, joined with Wednesday and Shravan, is said by the sages to bring victory in the month of Nabhasya.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे विजयश्रवणद्वादशीव्रतवर्णनं नाम षट्सप्ततितमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttaraparva, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira, the seventy-sixth chapter named 'Description of the Vijaya Shravan Dwadashi Vow' concludes.
सम्प्राप्तिद्वादशीव्रतवर्णनम् पौषादिपारणं मासैः षड्भिर्ज्येष्ठांतिकं स्मृतम्
The description of the Samprapti Dwadashi vow: The completion from Pausha onward is considered to end in Jyeshtha after six months.
प्रथमं पुंडरीकाक्षं नाम कृष्णस्य गीयते
The first is called Pundarikaksha, sung for Krishna.
पुरुषोत्तमाख्यं तु ततः पंचमेऽच्युतसंज्ञकम्
Next, the fifth is known as Purushottama, and then as Achyuta.
पूर्वोक्तेषु च मासेषु स्नानप्राशन योस्तिलाः
In the previously mentioned months, sesame is used for bathing and eating.
स्नानं च प्राशनं चैव पंचगव्यं सदेष्यते । प्रतिमासं च देवेश कृत्वा पूजां यथाविधि
Bathing and eating Panchagavya are prescribed; and every month, O Lord of the gods, worship should be performed as prescribed.
पारणं चैव देवेश प्रीणनं भक्तिपूर्वकम्
And, O Lord of the gods, the completion should be done with devotion to please.
नक्तं भुंजीत सततं तैलक्षारविवर्जितम्
One should always eat at night, avoiding oil and alkaline substances.
एवं संवत्सरस्यांते यदभिप्रेतमात्मनः शय्यां वा ब्राह्मणे दद्यात्केशवः प्रतिगृह्यताम्
Thus, at the end of the year, whatever is desired by oneself, one may give a bed to a Brahmin, and let Kesava accept it.
एतामुपोष्य विधिना विष्णुप्रीतौ च तत्परः ततो लोकेषु विख्यातं संप्राप्तं द्वादशीति वै ।। 4.77.
Having observed this according to the rule, devoted to pleasing Vishnu, then in the worlds, the Samprapti Dwadashi is renowned.
कृताभिलषिता दृष्टा प्रारब्धा धर्मतत्परैः
Those who are devoted to dharma have seen, begun, and accomplished what they desired.
संप्राप्तिकामुपवसंति समीहितार्था ये मानवा मनु जपुंगव विष्णुभक्ताः
Those men, foremost among men and devoted to Vishnu, who desire attainment, fast for the desired purpose.
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे संप्राप्तिद्वादशीव्रतं नाम सप्तसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttara Parva, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira, this is the seventy-seventh chapter named 'The Arrival of the Dvadashi Vow.'
गोविन्दद्वादशीव्रतवर्णनम् तस्याः सम्यगनुष्ठानात्प्राप्नोत्यभिमतं फलम्
Description of the Govinda Dvadashi Vow: By performing it properly, one attains the desired result.
पौषे मासे सिते पक्षे द्वादश्यां समुपोषितः
In the month of Pausha, during the bright fortnight, one should fast on the day of Dvadashi.
धूपपुष्पोपचारैश्च नैवेद्यैश्च समाहितः
With incense, flowers, and offerings, and with food offerings, one should worship with concentration.
