खे रोहिणी शशधराभिमता हिता च किं कारणं शृणु नरेन्द्र निवेदयामि
In the sky, Rohiṇī, beloved of the moon-bearer, is auspicious and favorable; what is the reason for this? Listen, O King, I shall explain.
अवियोगव्रतवर्णनम् विधानं तस्य कीदृक्च किं पुण्यं काऽत्र देवता
Description of the Aviyoga vow: What is its procedure, what merit does it bring, and which deity is honored here?
अवियोगव्रतं नाम व्रतानामुत्तमोत्तमम्
The vow called Aviyoga is the highest of all vows.
प्रौष्ठपदे शुक्लपक्षे द्वादश्यां प्रातरुत्थितः
In the bright fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada, on the twelfth day, one should rise early in the morning.
हृद्ये रम्ये सौधतटे हरिं लिख्येत मण्डले
On a beautiful terrace by the mansion, let one depict Hari within a circle.
तत्रैव च हरं गौरीं सावित्रीं ब्रह्मणा सह
There also, let one depict Hara with Gauri, and Savitri together with Brahma.
गंधैः पुष्पैश्च धूपैर्नैवेद्यैरर्चयेद्यथाशक्त्या
With perfumes, flowers, incense, and offerings, let one worship according to one's ability.
नारी वा पुरुषो वा अवियोगमतिं दृढां कृत्वा
Whether woman or man, having firmly resolved upon unity without separation,
सहस्रमूर्द्धा पुरुषः पद्मनाभो जनार्दनः
The Purusha with a thousand heads, the lotus-naveled, Janardana,
नारायणो मधुलिहो विष्णुर्दामोहरो हरिः
Narayana, the honey-drinker, Vishnu, the subduer of bonds, Hari,
श्रीधरः पुंडरीकाक्षो विश्वरूपस्त्रिविक्रमः 4.68.
Shridhara, lotus-eyed, of universal form, Trivikrama,
वासुदेवो हृषीकेशः कृष्णः सकर्षणोऽच्युतः
Vasudeva, Hrishikesha, Krishna, Sankarshana, Achyuta,
नित्यं स मे शुभः प्रीतः सश्रीकः केशशूलिनः
May he, ever auspicious, pleased, and accompanied by Shri, be favorable to me, the one with matted hair and trident.
ईशानो भैरवः शूली त्र्यंबकस्त्रिपुरांतकः
Ishana, Bhairava, the trident-bearer, Tryambaka, the destroyer of Tripura,
शिवः शर्वो महादेवो रुद्रो भूतमहेश्वरः
Shiva, Sharva, Mahadeva, Rudra, the great lord of beings,
ब्रह्मा शंभुः प्रभुः स्रष्टा पुष्करी प्रपितामहः
Brahma, Shambhu, the Lord, the Creator, Pushkari, the great grandsire,
चतुर्मुखः सृष्टिकर्ता स्वयंभूः कमलासनः
The four-faced, the creator of beings, self-born, seated on the lotus,
आदित्यो भास्करो भानुः सूर्योर्कः सविता रविः
Aditya, Bhaskara, Bhanu, Surya, Arka, Savita, Ravi,
प्रभाकरः सप्तसप्तिस्तरणिः सरणिः खगः
Prabhakara, the one with seven horses, Tarani, Sarani, Khaga,
निकुंभोः वर्णभो देवः सुप्रीतोऽस्तु सदा मम
May the god of the Nikumbhas, the color-born, always be well-pleased with me.
लक्ष्मीः श्रीः संपदा पद्मा मा विभूतिर्हरिप्रिया 4.68.
Lakshmi, Shri, prosperity, Padma, Maya, fortune, beloved of Hari,
गायत्री प्रकृतिः सृष्टिः सावित्री वेधसो मता ।। राज्ञी भानुमती संज्ञा नित्यभा भास्करप्रिया
Gayatri, Prakriti, creation, Savitri, regarded as the spouse of the Creator; the queen, Bhānumatī by name, ever-radiant, beloved of Bhaskara.
इति पद्मनाभशंकरपितामहार्क्कादीन्सप्रियान्पूज्य
Thus, having worshipped Padmanabha, Shankara, Pitamaha, Arka, and others, along with their beloveds,
द्वादश्यां चरति नरो व्रतमेतद्भक्तिभावितो लोके
A man, imbued with devotion, observes this vow on the twelfth day in the world.
हरिहरहिरण्यगर्भप्रभाकराणां क्रमेण लोकेषु
In succession, Hari, Hara, Hiranyagarbha, and Prabhakara are honored in the worlds.
स्त्रीपुंसोर्यदि युग्मं पुरुषो वा यदि समाचरति कश्चित्
If a man observes this vow together with a woman, or even alone, in any way,
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे हरिहरहिरण्यगर्भप्रभाकराणामवियोगव्रतं नामाष्टषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the sixty-eighth chapter named 'The vow of non-separation for Hari, Hara, Hiranyagarbha, and Prabhakara,' in the Uttaraparva of the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Yudhishthira.
गोवत्सद्वादशीव्रतवर्णनम् तेन पापेन मे चित्ते जुगुप्सातीव वर्तते
Description of the vow of Govatsa Dvadashi. Because of that sin, there is intense disgust in my mind.
तत्र ब्राह्मणराजन्यवैश्यशूद्रादयो हताः
There, Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras, and others were slain.
तेषां वधेन यत्पापं तन्मे मर्माणि कृंतति
The sin arising from their killing cuts into my vital parts.
