अग्नेः परिग्रहादार्ये त्वमाग्नेयीति पठ्यसे 4.64.
Because you are associated with the fire, you are called Agneya.
देवराजं समासाद्य लोकः संयमयत्यसौ
Having approached the king of the gods, the world is restrained by him.
खड्गंसहातिविकृता नैर्ऋतिस्त्वमुपाभृता
With sword in hand, fierce, you are the Nairriti, the one who is invoked.
त्वय्यास्ते भवनाधारवरुणो यादसां पतिः
In you abides Varuna, the lord of aquatic beings, as the foundation of dwellings.
अधिश्रितासि यस्मात्त्वं वायुना जगदायुना
Because you are supported by the wind, the vital breath of the world.
कुबेरवासतः सौम्या प्रख्याता त्वमथोत्तरा अतस्त्वं शिवसान्निध्यं देवि देहि शिवे नमः
Dwelling in Kubera's region, you are famed as the gentle northern one; therefore, grant the presence of Shiva, O goddess, salutations to Shiva.
सर्पाष्टककुलेन त्वं सेवितासि तथाप्यधः
Though you are served by the eightfold host of serpents, still you remain below.
सप्तलोकैः परिगता सर्वदा त्वं शिवा यतः
You are always surrounded by the seven worlds, O auspicious one.
नक्षत्राणि च सर्वाणि ग्रहास्ताराग्रहास्तथा सर्वे ममेष्टसिद्ध्यर्थे भवंतु प्रणताः सदा
May all the stars, planets, and planetary deities always bow down for the fulfillment of my desires.
एभिर्मंत्रैः समभ्यर्च्य पुष्पधूपादिना ततः
Having worshipped with these mantras, along with flowers, incense, and the like,
तत्तूर्यध्वनिघोषेण गतिमङ्गलनिःस्वनैः 4.64.
With the sound of musical instruments and auspicious tones of movement,
कुंकुमक्षोदतीव्रेण दानमानादिभिः सुखम्
With intense saffron powder, gifts, honor, and other such acts, joy is attained.
अनेन विधिना सर्वं क्षमयन्प्रणिपत्य च
By this method, forgiving all, and bowing down,
य एवं कुरुते पार्थ दशमीव्रतमादरात्
Whoever, O Pārtha, performs the Daśamī vow with reverence,
स्त्रीभिर्विशेषतः कार्यं व्रतमेतद्युधिष्ठिर
This vow, O Yudhiṣṭhira, should especially be performed by women.
धन्यं यशस्यमायुष्यं सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
It is blessed, brings fame, long life, and grants all desired fruits.
ये मानवा मनुजपुङ्गव कामकामाः संपूजयंति दशमीषु सदा दशाशाः
Those men, O best of men, who always worship the ten directions on the Daśamī, desiring desires,
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवाद आशादशमीव्रतं नाम चतुष्पष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, in the Uttara section, the sixty-fourth chapter named 'The Vow of Āṣāḍha Daśamī' in the dialogue of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Yudhiṣṭhira is concluded.
तारकद्वादशीव्रतवर्णनम् परिपृच्छामि गोविन्द त्वां नमस्कृत्य पादयोः
Description of the Tāraka-Dvādaśī vow. I ask you, Govinda, after bowing at your feet.
गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं ब्रूहि व्रतं किंचिदनुत्तमम्
Tell me, what is the most excellent vow, more secret than the most secret?
सांतःपुरसुतो यश्च चक्रे राज्यमतंद्रितः
He who, along with his attendants, ruled the kingdom without fatigue,
जघान तापसं सोऽथ प्रमादान्मृगयां गतः
He then, out of carelessness, went hunting and killed an ascetic.
तेन कर्मविपाकेन देहांते नरकं गतः
Because of the result of that deed, at the end of his life, he went to hell.
तस्मादिहागतो मर्त्ये रौद्रो विषधरोऽभवत्
Therefore, being born here among mortals, he became a fierce, venomous being.
लब्ध्वा सह च पंचत्वं जगाम द्विजसंयुतः
Having met his end together with five others, he departed accompanied by the twice-born.
विदारितमुखो हिंस्रो नानासत्त्वभयंकरः
With a torn mouth, fierce, terrifying to many creatures, he was dreadful.
ततोऽपि बहुभिः शस्त्रै राजलोकैर्निपातितः
Then, struck down by the king's men with many weapons, he fell.
तीक्ष्णपादनखाघातव्यापादितमृगान्वयः 4.65.
His lineage of beasts was destroyed by the blows of sharp claws.
स नीतः कृमिराशित्वं लोकैः खातनिपातनात्
He was brought to the state of being eaten by worms, having been cast into a pit by the people.
जघान बालं चण्डालादसौ मृत्युमवाप्नुयात्
He killed a child of the outcastes, and thus met with death.
