एवं संवत्सरस्यांते कृत्वैतदखिलं नृप
In this way, O king, having performed all this at the end of the year—
घृतपात्रं सकरकं सोदकुम्भं निवेद येत्
One should offer a vessel of ghee, along with a ladle and a water pot.
एकामपि प्रदद्याद्गां वित्तहीनो विमत्सरः
Even a poor man, free from envy, should give at least one cow.
अनेन विधिना यस्तु कुर्यात्कल्याणसप्तमीम्
Whoever performs the Kalyāṇa Saptamī with this procedure—
यश्चाष्टपत्रकमलोदरकर्णिकायां संपूजयेत्कुसुमधूपविलेपनायैः
And whoever worships the eight-petaled lotus with its central pericarp, with flowers, incense, and ointments—
इति श्रीभविष्ये महापुराण उत्तरपर्वणि श्रीकृष्णयुधिष्ठिरसंवादे कल्याणसप्तमीव्रतवर्णनं नामाष्टचत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Bhavishya Mahapurana, in the Uttaraparvan, in the dialogue between Śrī Krishna and Yudhishthira, ends the forty-eighth chapter named 'Description of the Kalyāṇa Saptamī Vow.'
शर्करासप्तमीव्रतवर्णनम् आयुरारोग्यमैश्वर्यं ययानंतं प्रजायते
The description of the Śarkarā Saptamī vow: By which, endless life, health, and prosperity are obtained.
माधवस्य सिते पक्षे सप्तम्यां श्रद्धयान्वितः
On the seventh day of the bright fortnight of Mādhava, with faith—
स्थंडिले पद्ममालिख्य कुंकुमेन सकर्णिकम्
One should draw a lotus with a central pericarp on the ground, using saffron.
स्थापयेदुदकुंभं च शर्करापात्रसंयुतम्
One should place a water pot together with a vessel of sugar.
सुवर्णाश्वसमायुक्तं मंत्रेणानेन पूजयेत्
One should worship it with this mantra, with a golden horse.
त्वमेवामृतसर्वस्वमतः पाहि सनातन
You alone are the immortal essence of all; therefore, protect me, O Eternal One.
अहोरात्रे गते पश्चादष्टम्यां कृतनित्यकः
After a day and night have passed, on the eighth day, having performed the daily rites—
भोजयेच्छक्तितो विप्राञ्छर्कराघृतपायसैः
One should feed the Brahmins, as able, with sugar, ghee, and rice pudding.
अनेन विधिना सर्वं मासिमासि समाचरेत्
In this manner, one should perform all this every month.
शयनं वस्त्रसंवीतं शर्कराकलशान्वितम् ।। । सर्वोपस्करसंयुक्तं तथैकां गां पयस्विनीम् ।। 4.49.
A bed covered with cloth, furnished with a sugar pot, equipped with all accessories, and likewise a single milch cow.
गृहं च शक्तितो दद्यात्समस्तोपस्करान्वितम्
He should give a house furnished with all necessary items, according to his ability.
दशभिर्द्वित्रिभिर्निष्कैस्तदर्धेनापि भक्तितः
With ten, two, or three gold coins, or even half that amount, he should give with devotion.
वित्तशाठ्यं न कुर्वीत कुर्वन्दोषान्स मश्नुते
He should not act with deceit regarding wealth; if he does, he incurs faults.
निपेतुरेत उत्थाय शालिमुद्गेक्षवः स्मृताः
Rice, pulses, and barley are considered proper offerings, placed down and then lifted up.
इष्टा रवेरतः पुण्या शर्करा हव्यकव्ययोः
Sugar is desired and meritorious for offerings to the gods and ancestors after the sun has set.
सर्वे ह्युपशमं यांति पुनः संततिवर्द्धिनी
All indeed attain peace, and their lineage continues to flourish.
कल्पमेकं वसेत्स्वर्गे ततो याति परं पदम्
He dwells in heaven for one age of Manu, then attains the supreme state.
इदमनघ शृणोति यः स्मरेद्वा परिपठतीह सुरेश्वरस्य लोके
O sinless one, whoever hears, remembers, or recites this here in the world of the lord of gods—
कमलासप्तमीव्रतवर्णनम् यस्याः संकीर्तनादेव तुष्यतीह दिवाकरः
Description of the Kamala Saptami vow: By merely chanting her name, the Sun becomes pleased here.
वसंतेऽमलसप्तम्यां स्नातः सन्गौरसर्षपैः
In spring, on the pure seventh day, having bathed with white mustard seeds,
वस्त्रयुग्मवृतं कृत्वा गंधपुष्पैरथार्चयेत्
He should offer a pair of garments, and then worship with fragrance and flowers.
दिवाकर नमस्तुभ्यं प्रभाकर नमोऽस्तु ते
O Sun, I bow to you; O maker of light, I bow to you.
विप्राय दद्यात्संपूज्य वस्त्रमाल्यविभूषणैः
After duly honoring a Brahmin, he should give him cloth, garlands, and ornaments.
यथाशक्त्याथ भुञ्जीत विमांसं तैलवर्जितम्
Then, according to his ability, he should eat food that is pure and free from meat and oil.
