वसुदेवः परिष्वज्य सम्प्रीतः प्रेमविह्वलः । स्मरन् कंसकृतान् क्लेशान् पुत्रन्यासं च गोकुले
Vasudeva, embracing him with affection and overwhelmed with love, remembered the hardships caused by Kaṃsa and the entrusting of his son in Gokula.
कृष्णरामौ परिष्वज्य पितरावभिवाद्य च । न किञ्चनोचतुः प्रेम्णा साश्रुकण्ठौ कुरूद्वह
Kṛṣṇa and Rāma embraced their parents and offered obeisance, but, choked with tears of love, they could not utter a word, O best of the Kurus.
तावात्मासनमारोप्य बाहुभ्यां परिरभ्य च । यशोदा च महाभागा सुतौ विजहतुः शुचः
Seating them on their own seat and embracing them with both arms, the blessed Yaśodā and her husband let go of all their sorrows for their sons.
रोहिणी देवकी चाथ परिष्वज्य व्रजेश्वरीम् । स्मरन्त्यौ तत्कृतां मैत्रीं बाष्पकण्ठ्यौ समूचतुः
Rohiṇī and Devakī then embraced the queen of Vraja; recalling the friendship she had shown, their throats choked with tears, they spoke.
का विस्मरेत वां मैत्रीं अनिवृत्तां व्रजेश्वरि । अवाप्याप्यैन्द्रमैश्वर्यं यस्या नेह प्रतिक्रिया
Who could ever forget your unwavering friendship, O Queen of Vraja? Even after attaining and relinquishing the sovereignty of Indra, there is no recompense for it in this world.
( वसंततिलका ) एतावदृष्टपितरौ युवयोः स्म पित्रोः सम्प्रीणनाभ्युदयपोषणपालनानि । प्राप्योषतुर्भवति पक्ष्म ह यद्वदक्ष्णोः न्यस्तावकुत्र च भयौ न सतां परः स्वः
This much have I seen: your parents, having delighted, prospered, nourished, and protected you, have fulfilled their duty. Just as eyelashes protect the eyes, so too, the virtuous have no fear, for heaven is not their ultimate goal.
श्रीशुक उवाच - गोप्यश्च कृष्णमुपलभ्य चिरादभीष्टं यत्प्रेक्षणे दृशिषु पक्ष्मकृतं शपन्ति । दृग्भिर्हृदीकृतमलं परिरभ्य सर्वाः तद्भावमापुरपि नित्ययुजां दुरापम्
Śuka said: The gopīs, having at last seen their beloved Kṛṣṇa, cursed their own eyelashes for obstructing their vision. Embracing him with their eyes, they absorbed him into their hearts, and all attained a state of devotion rarely achieved even by those always united with him.
( अनुष्टुप् ) भगवांस्तास्तथाभूता विविक्त उपसङ्गतः । आश्लिष्यानामयं पृष्ट्वा प्रहसन् इदमब्रवीत्
The Blessed Lord, approaching them in solitude as they were, embraced them, inquired about their well-being, and smiling, spoke these words.
अपि स्मरथ नः सख्यः स्वानामर्थचिकीर्षया । गतांश्चिरायिताञ्छत्रु पक्षक्षपणचेतसः
Do you remember our friendship, and how we, intent on fulfilling our own purposes, departed for so long, our minds absorbed in destroying the enemy's faction?
अप्यवध्यायथास्मान् स्विदकृतज्ञाविशङ्कया । नूनं भूतानि भगवान् युनक्ति वियुनक्ति च
Did you perhaps resent us, suspecting us of ingratitude? Surely, the Lord unites and separates all beings.
वायुर्यथा घनानीकं तृणं तूलं रजांसि च । संयोज्याक्षिपते भूयः तथा भूतानि भूतकृत्
Just as the wind gathers and scatters clouds, grass, cotton, and dust, so too does the Creator unite and disperse all beings.
मयि भक्तिर्हि भूतानां अमृतत्वाय कल्पते । दिष्ट्या यदासीत् मत्स्नेहो भवतीनां मदापनः
Devotion to me among beings leads to immortality. By good fortune, your affection for me has arisen, dispelling all obstacles.
अहं हि सर्वभूतानां आदिरन्तोऽन्तरं बहिः । भौतिकानां यथा खं वार्भूर्वायुर्ज्योतिरङ्गनाः
I am indeed the beginning, end, and the inner and outer essence of all beings, just as space, water, earth, air, and light are for material elements.
एवं ह्येतानि भूतानि भूतेष्वात्माऽऽत्मना ततः । उभयं मय्यथ परे पश्यताभातमक्षरे
Thus, these beings exist within beings, through the Self and the Supreme Self. Both are seen in me and in the transcendent, by those who perceive the imperishable.
श्रीशुक उवाच - अध्यात्मशिक्षया गोप्य एवं कृष्णेन शिक्षिताः । तदनुस्मरणध्वस्त जीवकोशास्तमध्यगन्
Śuka said: In this way, instructed by Kṛṣṇa in spiritual knowledge, the gopīs, their vital energies dissolved through remembrance of him, transcended their individual selves.
( वसंततिलका ) आहुश्च ते नलिननाभ पदारविन्दं योगेश्वरैर्हृदि विचिन्त्यमगाधबोधैः । संसारकूपपतितोत्तरणावलम्बं गेहं जुषामपि मनस्युदियात् सदा नः
They said: May the lotus-footed Lord, whose feet are contemplated in the heart by the yogic masters endowed with profound wisdom, and who is the support for deliverance from the well of worldly existence, always arise in our minds, even as we dwell in our homes.
इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां दशमस्कन्धे उत्तरार्धे वृष्णीगोपसंगमो नाम द्व्यशीतितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the eighty-second chapter, entitled 'The Meeting of the Vṛṣṇis and Gopas,' in the tenth book, second half, of the glorious Bhāgavata Purāṇa, the scripture of the supreme paramahaṃsa.
द्रौपदीं प्रति श्रीकृष्णपत्नीनां स्वस्वोद्वाहवृत्तांतवर्णनम् - अथ त्र्यशीतितमोऽध्यायः श्रीशुक उवाच। तथानुगृह्य भगवान्गोपीनां स गुरुर्गतिः। युधिष्ठिरमथापृच्छत्सर्वांश्च सुहृदोऽव्ययम्
Description of the wedding events of Śrī Kṛṣṇa's wives to Draupadī— Śuka said: Having thus blessed the gopīs, the Lord, their teacher and refuge, then inquired after Yudhiṣṭhira and all his steadfast friends.
त एवं लोकनाथेन परिपृष्टाः सुसत्कृताः। प्रत्यूचुर्हृष्टमनसस्तत्पादेक्षाहतांहसः
Those who had been thus questioned by the Lord of the worlds, and honored, replied with joyful hearts, their sins destroyed by the sight of his feet.
कुतोऽशिवं त्वच्चरणाम्बुजासवं महन्मनस्तो मुखनिःसृतं क्वचित्। पिबन्ति ये कर्णपुटैरलं प्रभो देहंभृतां देहकृदस्मृतिच्छिदम्
How could anything inauspicious arise from the nectar of your lotus feet, O great one, which sometimes flows from your mouth? Those who drink it with the cups of their ears, O Lord, find it sufficient to sever the bondage of embodied existence and the forgetfulness caused by the body.
हित्वात्म धामविधुतात्मकृतत्र्यवस्थाम्। आनन्दसम्प्लवमखण्डमकुण्ठबोधम्। कालोपसृष्टनिगमावन आत्तयोग। मायाकृतिं परमहंसगतिं नताः स्म
Having abandoned the threefold states of self, purified of all actions, we have attained uninterrupted bliss and unimpeded knowledge. Through yoga, established by the scriptures and time, we have bowed to your form, the supreme path of the paramahaṃsa, though fashioned by māyā.
श्रीऋषिरुवाच। इत्युत्तमःश्लोकशिखामणिं जनेष्व्। अभिष्टुवत्स्वन्धककौरवस्त्रियः। समेत्य गोविन्दकथा मिथोऽगृणंस्। त्रिलोकगीताः शृणु वर्णयामि ते
The sage said: Thus, the wives of the Andhaka and Kaurava clans, having gathered, praised the crown-jewel of those with noble fame among people. Meeting together, they sang Govinda's stories to each other, which are celebrated throughout the three worlds. Listen, I shall describe them to you.
श्रीद्रौपद्युवाच। हे वैदर्भ्यच्युतो भद्रे हे जाम्बवति कौशले। हे सत्यभामे कालिन्दि शैब्ये रोहिणि लक्ष्मणे
Śrī Draupadī said: O Vaidarbhī, O Bhadrā, O Jāmbavatī, O Kauśalā, O Satyabhāmā, O Kālindī, O Śaibyā, O Rohiṇī, O Lakṣmaṇā—
हे कृष्णपत्न्य एतन्नो ब्रूत वो भगवान्स्वयम्। उपयेमे यथा लोकमनुकुर्वन्स्वमायया
O wives of Kṛṣṇa, please tell us: how did the Lord Himself marry you, imitating worldly ways by His own divine power?
श्रीरुक्मिण्युवाच। चैद्याय मार्पयितुमुद्यतकार्मुकेषु। राजस्वजेयभटशेखरिताङ्घ्रिरेणुः। निन्ये मृगेन्द्र इव भागमजावियूथात्। तच्छ्रीनिकेतचरणोऽस्तु ममार्चनाय
Śrī Rukmiṇī said: When warriors with drawn bows tried to offer me to the king of Cedi, the dust of whose feet crowned the heads of the king’s soldiers, He carried me away like a lion seizing his share from a herd of goats. May the feet of that Lord, the abode of Śrī, be worshipped by me.
श्रीसत्यभामोवाच। यो मे सनाभिवधतप्तहृदा ततेन। लिप्ताभिशापमपमार्ष्टुमुपाजहार। जित्वर्क्षराजमथ रत्नमदात्स तेन। भीतः पितादिशत मां प्रभवेऽपि दत्ताम्
Śrī Satyabhāmā said: He, who, to wipe away the curse smeared upon me by my co-wife, defeated the king of the earth and brought the jewel, frightened my father and others, and even though I was given to another, He took me for Himself.
श्रीजाम्बवत्युवाच। प्राज्ञाय देहकृदमुं निजनाथदैवं। सीतापतिं त्रिनवहान्यमुनाभ्ययुध्यत्। ज्ञात्वा परीक्षित उपाहरदर्हणं मां। पादौ प्रगृह्य मणिनाहममुष्य दासी
Śrī Jāmbavatī said: Recognizing Him as the maker of bodies and my destined Lord, the husband of Sītā fought with my father for twenty-one days. Knowing Him to be tested, my father offered me to Him, and grasping His feet with the jewel, I became His servant.
श्रीकालिन्द्युवाच। तपश्चरन्तीमाज्ञाय स्वपादस्पर्शनाशया। सख्योपेत्याग्रहीत्पाणिं योऽहं तद्गृहमार्जनी
Śrī Kālindī said: Knowing I was performing austerities with the desire to touch His feet, He approached me as a friend, took my hand, and I became the sweeper of His house.
श्रीमित्रविन्दोवाच। यो मां स्वयंवर उपेत्य विजित्य भूपान्। निन्ये श्वयूथगं इवात्मबलिं द्विपारिः। भ्रातॄंश्च मेऽपकुरुतः स्वपुरं श्रियौकस्। तस्यास्तु मेऽनुभवमङ्घ्र्यवनेजनत्वम्
Śrī Mitravindā said: He came to my svayaṃvara, defeated the kings, and carried me away like an elephant seizing his own mate from a herd. He drove away my brothers and brought me to His own city, the abode of fortune. May I have the privilege of serving His feet.
श्रीसत्योवाच। सप्तोक्षणोऽतिबलवीर्यसुतीक्ष्णशृङ्गान्। पित्रा कृतान्क्षितिपवीर्यपरीक्षणाय। तान्वीरदुर्मदहनस्तरसा निगृह्य। क्रीडन्बबन्ध ह यथा शिशवोऽजतोकान्
Śrī Satyā said: My father, to test the strength and valor of the kings, had seven fierce, sharp-horned bulls. He, the destroyer of the pride of heroes, subdued them with ease and bound them as a child binds young calves.
