नूनं नानामदोन्नद्धाः शान्तिं नेच्छन्त्यसाधवः । तेषां हि प्रशमो दण्डः पशूनां लगुडो यथा
Surely, these wicked ones, puffed up with various kinds of pride, do not desire peace; for them, restraint is punishment, just as a stick is for animals.
अहो यदून् सुसंरब्धाम् कृष्णं च कुपितं शनैः । सान्त्वयित्वाहमेतेषां शममिच्छन् इहागतः
Ah, I have come here desiring peace, having gently calmed the enraged Yādus and Kṛṣṇa.
त इमे मन्दमतयः कलहाभिरताः खलाः । तं मामवज्ञाय मुहुः दुर्भाषान् मानिनोऽब्रुवन्
These dull-minded, quarrelsome, wicked ones, repeatedly disregarded me and spoke disrespectful words, proud as they are.
नोग्रसेनः किल विभुः भोजवृष्ण्यन्धकेश्वरः । शक्रादयो लोकपाला यस्यादेशानुवर्तिनः
Is not Ugrasena the mighty lord, ruler of the Bhojas, Vṛṣṇis, and Andhakas, whom even Indra and other guardians of the worlds obey?
सुधर्माऽऽक्रम्यते येन पारिजातोऽमराङ्घ्रिपः । आनीय भुज्यते सोऽसौ न किलाध्यासनार्हणः
He, by whom Sudharmā is entered, the Pārijāta tree is brought from the realm of the immortals and enjoyed, is surely not unworthy of the royal seat.
यस्य पादयुगं साक्षात् श्रीरुपास्तेऽखिलेश्वरी । स नार्हति किल श्रीशो नरदेवपरिच्छदान्
At whose feet Śrī herself serves directly, the sovereign of all, is he not worthy of royal honors and paraphernalia?
( वसंततिलका ) यस्याङ्घ्रिपङ्कजरजोऽखिललोकपालैः मौल्युत्तमैर्धृतमुपासिततीर्थतीर्थम् । ब्रह्मा भवोऽहमपि यस्य कलाः कलायाः श्रीश्चोद्वहेम चिरमस्य नृपासनं क्व
The dust of whose lotus feet is borne by the crowns of all guardians of the worlds, worshipped as the sacred of sacred places; Brahmā, Śiva, and I are but portions of his portion, and Śrī herself serves him for a long time—where is the royal seat for him?
( अनुष्टुप् ) भुञ्जते कुरुभिर्दत्तं भूखण्डं वृष्णयः किल । उपानहः किल वयं स्वयं तु कुरवः शिरः
The Vṛṣṇis enjoy the land given by the Kurus, while we ourselves are like shoes, and the Kurus are the crown upon the head.
अहो ऐश्वर्यमत्तानां मत्तानामिव मानिनाम् । असंबद्धा गिरो रुक्षाः कः सहेतानुशासीता
Ah, who could endure or instruct those intoxicated by wealth, whose words are incoherent and harsh, like those of the proud and drunken?
अद्य निष्कौरवं पृथ्वीं करिष्यामीत्यमर्षितः । गृहीत्वा हलमुत्तस्थौ दहन्निव जगत्त्रयम्
Enraged, he declared, 'Today I will make the earth free of the Kauravas!' Seizing his plough, he rose up as if to burn the three worlds.
लाङ्गलाग्रेण नगरं उद्विदार्य गजाह्वयम् । विचकर्ष स गङ्गायां प्रहरिष्यन्नमर्षितः
With the tip of his plough he tore open the city of Hastinapura, and, furious, dragged it into the Ganga, intent on striking.
जलयानमिवाघूर्णं गङ्गायां नगरं पतत् । आकृष्यमाणमालोक्य कौरवाः जातसंभ्रमाः
As the city, pulled into the Ganga, spun like a boat in a whirlpool, the Kauravas, seeing it being dragged, were seized with panic.
तमेव शरणं जग्मुः सकुटुम्बा जिजीविषवः । सलक्ष्मणं पुरस्कृत्य साम्बं प्राञ्जलयः प्रभुम्
Desiring to live, the Kauravas, with their families, approached him for refuge, placing Lakshmana and Samba at the front, and bowed with joined palms to the Lord.
राम रामाखिलाधार प्रभावं न विदाम ते । मूढानां नः कुबुद्धीनां क्षन्तुमर्हस्यतिक्रमम्
"O Rama, foundation of all, we do not know your power. Please forgive our offense, for we are foolish and misguided."
स्थित्युत्पत्त्यप्ययानां त्वमेको हेतुर्निराश्रयः । लोकान् क्रीडनकानीश क्रीडतस्ते वदन्ति हि
You alone are the cause, without dependence, of creation, maintenance, and dissolution. O Lord, the wise say that the worlds are your playthings, and you play with them.
( मिश्र ) त्वमेव मूर्ध्नीदमनन्त लीलया भूमण्डलं बिभर्षि सहस्रमूर्धन् । अन्ते च यः स्वात्मनि रुद्धविश्वः शेषेऽद्वितीयः परिशिष्यमाणः
You alone, O endless one, bear the earth with your thousand heads, playfully supporting it on your crown; and at the end, when the universe is withdrawn into yourself, you alone remain, unique and unsurpassed.
( अनुष्टुप् ) कोपस्तेऽखिलशिक्षार्थं न द्वेषान्न च मत्सरात् । बिभ्रतो भगवन् सत्त्वं स्थितिपालनतत्परः
O Lord, your anger is for the sake of universal instruction, not out of hatred or envy; you, upholding sattva, are ever intent on the protection of existence.
नमस्ते सर्वभूतात्मन् सर्वशक्तिधराव्यय । विश्वकर्मन् नमस्तेऽस्तु त्वां वयं शरणं गताः
Salutations to you, the soul of all beings, bearer of all powers, imperishable one; O creator of the universe, we bow to you and have taken refuge in you.
श्रीशुक उवाच - एवं प्रपन्नैः संविग्नैः वेपमानायनैर्बलः । प्रसादितः सुप्रसन्नो मा भैष्टेत्यभयं ददौ
Śuka said: Thus, by those who had taken refuge, distressed and trembling, Balarama was pleased and, fully satisfied, granted them fearlessness, saying, 'Do not be afraid.'
दुर्योधनः पारिबर्हं कुञ्जरान् षष्टिहायनान् । ददौ च द्वादशशतानि अयुतानि तुरङ्गमान्
Duryodhana gave as tribute sixty-year-old elephants, and twelve thousand horses.
रथानां षट्सहस्राणि रौक्माणां सूर्यवर्चसाम् । दासीनां निष्ककण्ठीनां सहस्रं दुहितृवत्सलः
He gave six thousand golden chariots shining like the sun, and a thousand maidservants without necklaces, being fond of daughters.
प्रतिगृह्य तु तत्सर्वं भगवान् सात्वतर्षभः । ससुतः सस्नुषः प्रायात् सुहृद्भिरभिनन्दितः
Having accepted all this, the Lord, the foremost of the Sātvatas, departed with his son and daughter-in-law, honored by his friends.
( मिश्र ) ततः प्रविष्टः स्वपुरं हलायुधः समेत्य बन्धूननुरक्तचेतसः । शशंस सर्वं यदुपुङ्गवानां मध्ये सभायां कुरुषु स्वचेष्टितम्
Then Halāyudha entered his own city, his heart affectionate toward his relatives; in the assembly of the Yadus, he recounted all his deeds among the Kurus.
( अनुष्टुप् ) अद्यापि च पुरं ह्येतत् सूचयद् रामविक्रमम् । समुन्नतं दक्षिणतो गङ्गायां अनुदृश्यते
Even today, that city, bearing the mark of Rama's might, stands elevated to the south of the Ganga, visible to all.
इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां दशमस्कन्धे उत्तरार्धे हस्तिनपुरकर्षणरूपसंकर्षणविजयो नाम अष्टषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the sixty-eighth chapter, entitled 'The Victory of Sankarshana in the Form of Dragging Hastinapura,' of the Uttara section of the Tenth Book of the glorious Bhagavata Purana.
देवर्षिनारदकर्तृकं भगवतो गृहचर्यादर्शनम् - श्रीशुक उवाच - ( अनुष्टुप् ) नरकं निहतं श्रुत्वा तथोद्वाहं च योषिताम् । कृष्णेनैकेन बह्वीनां तद् दिदृक्षुः स्म नारदः
The household conduct of the Lord, as performed by the sage Narada— Śuka said: Hearing that Naraka was slain and the many women were wed by Krishna alone, Narada desired to see this.
चित्रं बतैतदेकेन वपुषा युगपत् पृथक् । गृहेषु द्व्यष्टसाहस्रं स्त्रिय एक उदावहत्
How astonishing it is that, with a single body, he simultaneously married eight thousand and two hundred women, each in their own home.
इत्युत्सुको द्वारवतीं देवर्षिर्द्रष्टुमागमत् । पुष्पितोपवनाराम द्विजालिकुलनादिताम्
Eager to see Dvārakā, the divine sage arrived there, where gardens and parks were in full bloom, resounding with the voices of flocks of birds and brahmins.
उत्फुल्लेन्दीवराम्भोज कह्लारकुमुदोत्पलैः । छुरितेषु सरःसूच्चैः कूजितां हंससारसैः
The lakes, adorned with fully blossomed blue lotuses, water lilies, day-blooming lotuses, and kumudas, were filled with tall reeds and echoed with the calls of swans and cranes.
प्रासादलक्षैर्नवभिः जुष्टां स्फाटिकराजतैः । महामरकतप्रख्यैः स्वर्णरत्नपरिच्छदैः
The city was graced with nine hundred thousand palaces made of crystal and silver, resembling great emeralds, furnished with golden and jeweled decorations.
