( मिश्र ) त्वं वै सिसृक्षुरज उत्कटं प्रभो तमो निरोधाय बिभर्ष्यसंवृतः । स्थानाय सत्त्वं जगतो जगत्पते कालः प्रधानं पुरुषो भवान् परः
You, desiring to create, O unborn Lord, assume the fierce form to bring about dissolution; for the stability of the worlds, you are sattva, O Lord of the universe; time, matter, and the supreme person—you are all these.
अहं पयो ज्योतिरथानिलो नभो मात्राणि देवा मन इन्द्रियाणि । कर्ता महानित्यखिलं चराचरं त्वय्यद्वितीये भगवन्नयं भ्रमः
Earth, water, fire, air, ether, the senses, gods, mind, and the great principle—all that moves and does not move, O Lord, in you, the non-dual, this delusion does not exist.
तस्यात्मजोऽयं तव पादपङ्कजं भीतः प्रपन्नार्तिहरोपसादितः । तत् पालयैनं कुरु हस्तपङ्कजं शिरस्यमुष्याखिलकल्मषापहम्
This son of yours, frightened, has taken refuge at your lotus feet, seeking relief from distress; therefore, protect him—place your lotus hand, which removes all sin, upon his head.
श्रीशुक उवाच - ( अनुष्टुप् ) इति भूम्यर्थितो वाग्भिः भगवान् भक्तिनम्रया । दत्त्वाभयं भौमगृहं प्राविशत् सकलर्द्धिमत्
Śuka said: Thus addressed by Bhūmi with words of devotion and humility, the Lord granted her assurance and entered the opulent house of the earth-born one.
तत्र राजन्यकन्यानां षट्सहस्राधिकायुतम् । भौमाहृतानां विक्रम्य राजभ्यो ददृशे हरिः
There Hari saw over sixteen thousand royal maidens, seized by the earth-born one, whom he had rescued from the kings.
तं प्रविष्टं स्त्रियो वीक्ष्य नरवर्यं विमोहिताः । मनसा वव्रिरेऽभीष्टं पतिं दैवोपसादितम्
Seeing that best of men enter, the women, bewildered, desired him in their hearts as their chosen husband, brought to them by fate.
भूयात् पतिरयं मह्यं धाता तदनुमोदताम् । इति सर्वाः पृथक् कृष्णे भावेन हृदयं दधुः
"May this one become my husband, and may the Creator approve it"—thus, each of them, with individual feeling, gave her heart to Krishna.
ताः प्राहिणोद् द्वारवतीं सुमृष्टविरजोऽम्बराः । नरयानैर्महाकोशान् रथाश्वान् द्रविणं महत्
He sent them to Dvārakā, dressed in spotless garments, along with attendants, great treasures, chariots, horses, and abundant wealth.
ऐरावतकुलेभांश्च चतुर्दन्तांस्तरस्विनः । पाण्डुरांश्च चतुःषष्टिं प्रेरयामास केशवः
Keśava also dispatched sixty-four swift, four-tusked, white elephants from the line of Airāvata.
गत्वा सुरेन्द्रभवनं दत्त्वादित्यै च कुण्डले । पूजितस्त्रिदशेन्द्रेण सहेन्द्र्याण्या च सप्रियः
Having gone to the abode of the lord of the gods, and giving the earrings to Aditi, he was honored by the king of the gods together with his beloved Indrani.
चोदितो भार्ययोत्पाट्य पारीजातं गरुत्मति । आरोप्य सेन्द्रान् विबुधान् निर्जित्योपानयत् पुरम्
Urged by his wife, he uprooted the Parijata tree, placed it on Garuda, and, having defeated the gods along with Indra, brought it to his city.
स्थापितः सत्यभामाया गृहोद्यानोपशोभनः । अन्वगुर्भ्रमराः स्वर्गात् तद् गन्धासवलम्पटाः
He established it for Satyabhama, enhancing the beauty of her house-garden; and bees, greedy for its fragrance, followed it from heaven.
( मिश्र ) ययाच आनम्य किरीटकोटिभिः पादौ स्पृशन् अच्युतमर्थसाधनम् । सिद्धार्थ एतेन विगृह्यते महान् अहो सुराणां च तमो धिगाढ्यताम्
She bowed, touching Acyuta’s feet with the tips of her crown, and begged for the fulfillment of her desire; by this, the great one is considered accomplished—alas, how deep is the darkness of pride among the gods!
( अनुष्टुप् ) अथो मुहूर्त एकस्मिन् नानागारेषु ताः स्त्रियः । यथोपयेमे भगवान् तावद् रूपधरोऽव्ययः
Then, in a single moment, the Lord, unchanging and assuming as many forms as needed, married those women in their various mansions.
( वंशस्था ) गृहेषु तासामनपाय्यतर्ककृत् निरस्तसाम्यातिशयेष्ववस्थितः । रेमे रमाभिर्निजकामसम्प्लुतो यथेतरो गार्हकमेधिकांश्चरन्
Dwelling in their homes, surpassing all comparison and distinction, he remained, delighting with his consorts, immersed in his own desire, just as an ordinary householder lives with his wives.
( वसंततिलका ) इत्थं रमापतिमवाप्य पतिं स्त्रियस्ता ब्रह्मादयोऽपि न विदुः पदवीं यदीयाम् । भेजुर्मुदाविरतमेधितयानुराग हासावलोकनवसङ्गमजल्पलज्जाः
Thus, having attained the Lord of Lakshmi as their husband—whose path even Brahma and others do not know—the women, with joy and ever-increasing love, served him with smiles, glances, intimate union, playful words, and bashfulness.
प्रत्युद्गमासनवरार्हणपदशौच ताम्बूलविश्रमणवीजनगन्धमाल्यैः । केशप्रसारशयनस्नपनोपहार्यैः दासीशता अपि विभोर्विदधुः स्म दास्यम्
Hundreds of maidservants also rendered service to the Lord with acts such as going out to meet him, offering seats, worship, washing his feet, betel, rest, fanning, fragrant garlands, arranging his hair, preparing his bed, bathing, and presenting gifts.
इति श्रीमद्भागवते महापुराणे पारमहंस्यां संहितायां दशमस्कन्धे उत्तरार्धे पारिजातहरणनरकवधो नाम एकोनषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the fifty-ninth chapter, entitled 'The Taking of the Parijata Tree and the Slaying of Naraka,' in the tenth book of the Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa, the scripture for the paramahaṃsas.
अथ षष्टितमोऽध्यायः 10.60 श्रीबादरायणिरुवाच। कर्हिचित्सुखमासीनं स्वतल्पस्थं जगद्गुरुम्। पतिं पर्यचरद्भैष्मी व्यजनेन सखीजनैः
Śrī Bādarāyaṇa said: Once, Bhāīṣmī attended to her husband, the teacher of the world, as he sat happily on his own bed, using a fan together with her companions.
यस्त्वेतल्लीलया विश्वं सृजत्यत्त्यवतीश्वरः। स हि जातः स्वसेतूनां गोपीथाय यदुष्वजः
He, who by his play creates, sustains, and destroys the universe, was born among the Yadus for the sake of protecting the cows, his own kin.
तस्मिनन्तर्गृहे भ्राजन् मुक्तादामविलम्बिना। विराजिते वितानेन दीपैर्मणिमयैरपि
In that inner chamber, adorned with a hanging pearl necklace, decorated with a canopy and jeweled lamps,
मल्लिकादामभिः पुष्पैर्द्विरेफकुलनादिते। जालरन्ध्रप्रविष्टैश्च गोभिश्चन्द्रमसोऽमलैः
With garlands of jasmine flowers, blossoms, and the hum of swarms of bees, and with pure moonlight entering through the lattice windows,
पारिजातवनामोद वायुनोद्यानशालिना। धूपैरगुरुजै राजन्जालरन्ध्रविनिर्गतैः
With breezes carrying the fragrance of the Parijata grove, rich with gardens, and with incense of aloe wood wafting out through the lattice openings,
पयःफेननिभे शुभ्रे पर्यङ्के कशिपूत्तमे। उपतस्थे सुखासीनं जगतामीश्वरं पतिम्
On a most excellent couch, white as milk foam, she attended her husband, the Lord of the worlds, as he sat comfortably.
वालव्यजनमादाय रत्नदण्डं सखीकरात्। तेन वीजयती देवी उपासांचक्र ईश्वरम्
Taking a yak-tail fan with a jeweled handle from the hand of her companion, the goddess fanned the Lord, performing worship.
सोपाच्युतं क्वणयती मणिनूपुराभ्यां। रेजेऽङ्गुलीयवलयव्यजनाग्रहस्ता। वस्त्रान्तगूढकुचकुङ्कुमशोणहार। भासा नितम्बधृतया च परार्ध्यकाञ्च्या
With anklets of jewels softly ringing as she stepped, her hands adorned with rings, bangles, and the fan, her necklace reddened by the saffron of her hidden breasts beneath her garment, and her hips encircled by a priceless girdle, she shone beside Acyuta.
तां रूपिणीं श्रीयमनन्यगतिं निरीक्ष्य। या लीलया धृततनोरनुरूपरूपा। प्रीतः स्मयन्नलककुण्डलनिष्ककण्ठ। वक्त्रोल्लसत्स्मितसुधां हरिराबभाषे
Seeing her, the embodiment of beauty and fortune, having no other refuge, who by her play had assumed a form matching his own, Hari, pleased, smiling with his curling locks, earrings, and shining necklace, and with nectar-like smiles on his lips, spoke to her.
श्रीभगवानुवाच। राजपुत्रीप्सिता भूपैर्लोकपालविभूतिभिः। महानुभावैः श्रीमद्भी रूपौदार्यबलोर्जितैः
The Blessed Lord said: O princess, you were desired by kings—guardians of the world—endowed with great power, wealth, beauty, generosity, and strength.
तान्प्राप्तानर्थिनो हित्वा चैद्यादीन्स्मरदुर्मदान्। दत्ता भ्रात्रा स्वपित्रा च कस्मान्नो ववृषेऽसमान्
Rejecting those suitors who sought your hand, and scorning proud kings like Shishupala and others, you were given by your brother and father—why did you not choose someone equal to yourself?
राजभ्यो बिभ्यतः सुभ्रु समुद्रं शरणं गतान्। बलवद्भिः कृतद्वेषान्प्रायस्त्यक्तनृपासनान्
O beautiful-browed one, out of fear of the kings, you sought refuge in the ocean, having made enemies of the powerful and abandoned royal seats.
