ना द्यूताङ्गे च कर्षे च व्यवहारे कलिद्रुमे । उष्णीषः स्यान् किरीटादौ कर्षूः कुल्याभिधायिनी ।। ३६२.
In gambling, in drawing lots, in legal dealings, and in the age of Kali, uṣṇīṣa is a turban, kirīṭa is a crown, karṣū is a measure, and kulyā refers to a water channel.
प्रत्यक्षेऽधिकृतेऽध्याक्षः सूर्य्यवह्नी विभावसू । श्रृङ्गारादौ विषे वोर्य्ये गुणे रागे द्रवे रसः ।। ३६२.
In direct perception, the official is called adhyakṣa; Sūrya and Agni are vibhāvasu; in love, viṣa is poison, voryya is a horse, guṇa is a quality, rāga is attachment, drava is liquid, and rasa is taste.
तेजःपुरीषयोर्वर्च्च आगः पापापराधयोः । छन्दः पद्येऽभिलाषे च साधीयान् साधुवाढयोः ३६२.
Varcca is brilliance in fire and excrement; āgaḥ is sin and offense; chandaḥ is meter in poetry and also desire; sādhīyān is superior, and sādhu is a good person.
अग्निरुवाच वक्ष्ये भूपुराद्रिवनौषधिसिंहादिवर्गकान् । भूरनन्ता क्षमा धात्री क्ष्माप्या कुः स्याद्धरित्र्यपि ।। ३६३.
Agni said: I will describe the groups of earth, mountains, forests, herbs, lions, and others; bhū, anantā, kṣamā, dhātrī, kṣmāpyā, kuḥ, and dharitri are all names for earth.
मृन्मृत्तिका प्रशस्ता तु मृत्सा मृत्स्ना च मृत्तिका । जगत्त्रिपिष्टपं लोकं भुवनं जगती समा ।। ३६३.
Mṛn, mṛttikā, praśastā, mṛtsā, mṛtsnā, and mṛttikā are all terms for clay; jagat, tripiṣṭapa, loka, bhuvana, and jagatī are all names for the world.
अयनं वर्त्म मार्गाध्वपन्थानः पदवी सृतिः । सरणिः पद्धतिः पद्या वर्त्तन्येकपदीति च ।। ३६३.
Ayana, vartma, mārga, adhva, panthānaḥ, padavī, sṛti, saraṇi, paddhati, padyā, vartani, and ekapadī all mean path or way.
पूः स्त्री पुरीनगर्य्यौ वा पत्तनं पुटभेदनम् । स्यानीयं निगमोऽन्यत्तु यन्मूलनगरात्पुरम् ।। ३६३.
Pūḥ, purī, nagarī, pattana, and puṭabhedana are names for a city; nīya and nigama are other terms, and a city founded from a root city is called puram.
तच्छाशानगरं वेशो वेश्याजनसमाश्रयः । आपणस्तु निषद्यायां विपणिः पण्यवीथिका ।। ३६३.
Tacchāśānagara is a city quarter; veśa is a dwelling, veśyājana is a brothel; āpaṇa is a market for sitting, vipaṇi is a shop, and paṇyavīthikā is a market street.
रथ्या प्रतोली विशिखा स्याच्चयो वप्रमस्त्रियां । प्राकारो वरणः शालः प्राचीरं प्रान्ततो वृतिः ।। ३६३.
Rathyā, pratolī, and viśikhā are streets; cyaya is a mound, vapra is a rampart, and astriyā is a woman; prākāra is a wall, varaṇa is a fence, śāla is a hall, prācīra is a boundary wall, and vṛti is an enclosure at the edge.
भित्तिः स्त्री कुड्यमेडूकं यदन्तर्नस्तकीकसं । वासः कुटी द्वयोः शाला सभा सञ्जवनन्त्विदम् ।। ३६३.
Bhitti is a wall, kuḍya is a wall, eḍūka is a granary, and anything inside is called nastakīka; vāsa is a dwelling, kuṭī is a hut, śālā is a hall for two, sabhā is an assembly hall, and sañjavana is the same.
चतुःशालं मुनीनान्तु पर्णशालोटजोऽस्त्रियां । चैत्यमायतनन्तुल्ये वाजिशाला तु मन्दुरा ।। ३६३.
Catuḥśāla is a hermitage for sages; parṇaśāla and uṭaja are huts for women; caitya and āyatana are both shrines; vājiśālā is a stable for horses, also called mandurā.
हर्म्यादि धनिनां वासः प्रासादो देवभूभुजां । स्त्री द्वार्द्वारं प्रतीहारः स्याद्वितर्द्दिस्तु वेदिका ।। ३६३.
Harmyādi is the residence of the wealthy; prāsāda is the palace of gods and kings; dvāra is a door, pratīhāra is a doorkeeper, vitardi is a railing, and vedikā is an altar.
कपोतपालिकायान्तु विटङ्कं पुंनपुंसकं । कवाटमवरन्तुल्ये निःश्रेणिस्त्वधिरोहिणी ।। ३६३.
Kapotapālikā is a pigeon house; viṭaṅka is a perch, puṃnapuṃsaka is a hermaphrodite; kavāṭa is a door, avara is the same; niḥśreṇi is a ladder, adhirohiṇī is a stairway.
सम्मार्जनी सोधनी स्यात् सङ्रोऽवकरस्तथा । अद्रिगोत्रगिरिग्रावा गहनं काननं वनं ।। ३६३.
Sammārjanī is a broom, sodhanī is a cleaning tool, saṅra is a dustpan, avakara is the same; adri, gotra, girigrāva are all mountains; gahana, kānana, and vana are all forests.
आरामः स्यादुपवनं कृत्रिमं वनमेव यत् । स्यादेतदेव प्रमदवनमन्दः पुरोचितं ।। ३६३.
A pleasure garden is an artificial grove, which is itself a kind of forest; this is called a women's garden, suitable for a palace.
वीथ्यालिरावलिः पङ्क्तिश्रेणीलेखास्तु राजयः । वानस्पत्यः फलैः पुष्पात्तैरपुष्पाद्वनस्पतिः ।। ३६३.
Paths, rows, lines, and series of trees are the arrangements; the trees are of various kinds, some bearing fruit and flowers, some without flowers.
ओषध्यः फलपाकान्ताः पलाशी द्रुद्रुमागमाः । स्थाणु वा ना ध्रुवः शङ्कुः प्रफुल्लोत्फुल्लसंस्फुटाः ।। ३६३.
There are herbs that bear fruit at the end of their ripening, palāśa trees, strong trees, and those that have come to maturity; some are fixed, some not, some are marked by stakes, and some are bursting forth with blossoms.
पलाशं छदनं पर्णमिध्ममेधः समित् स्त्रियां । बोधिद्रुमश्चलदलो दधित्थग्राहिमन्मथाः ।। ३६३.
Palāśa leaves serve as coverings, leaves as fuel and offerings, and twigs for sacrificial kindling; the bodhi tree with moving leaves, the dadhittha tree, and the manmatha tree are present.
तस्मिन् दधिफलः पुष्पफलदन्तशठावपि । उडुम्बरे हेमदुग्धः कोविदारे द्विपत्रकः ।। ३६३.
There are trees bearing curd-like fruit, those with both flowers and fruit, and the dantaśaṭha tree; the uḍumbara yields golden sap, the kovidāra has two leaves.
सप्तपर्णो विशालत्वक् कृतमालं सुवर्णकः । आरेवतव्याधिघातसम्पाक चतुरङ्गुलाः ।। ३६३.
The saptaparṇa with broad bark, kṛtamāla, suvarṇaka, ārevataka, vyādhighāta, sampāka, and caturaṅgulā trees are found there.
स्याज्जम्बीरे दन्तशठो वरुणे तिक्तशावकः । पुन्नागे पुरुषस्तुङ्गः केशरो देववल्लभः ।। ३६३.
In the jambīra grove is the dantaśaṭha, in the varuṇa the bitter śāvaka; in the punnāga, the tall puruṣa, and in the keśara, the beloved of the gods.
पारिभद्रे निम्बतरुर्मन्दारः पारिजातकः । वञ्जुलश्चित्रकृच्चाथ द्वौ पीतनकपीतनौ ।। ३६३.
In the pāribhadra is the neem tree, in the mandāra the pārijātaka; there is the vañjula, the citrakṛc, and two yellow pītanaka trees.
आम्रातके मधूके तु गुडपुष्पमधुद्रुमौ । पीलौ गुड़फलः स्रंसी नीदेयी चाम्बुवेतसः ।। ३६३.
In the āmrātaka and madhūka are the guḍapuṣpa and madhudruma; the pīla, the heavy-fruited sraṃsī, and the nīdeyī and ambuvetasa trees.
शोभाञ्जने शिग्रुतीक्ष्णगन्धकाक्षीरमोचकाः । रक्तोऽसौ मधुशिग्रुः स्यादरिष्टः फेणिलः समौ ।। ३६३.
The śobhāñjana, śigru, the sharp-scented gandhakākṣīra, and mocaka trees; the red madhuśigru, the ariṣṭa, and the frothy samau are present.
गालवः शावरो लोध्रस्तिरीटस्तिल्वमार्जनौ । शेलुः श्लेष्मातकः शीत उद्दालो बहुवारकः ।। ३६३.
The gālava, śāvara, lodhra, tirīṭa, tilva, and ārjana trees; the śelu, śleṣmātaka, śīta, uddāla, and bahuvāraka are there.
वैकङ्कतः श्रुवावृक्षो ग्रन्थिलो व्याघ्रपादपि । तिन्दुकः स्फूर्जकः कालो नादेयी भूमिजम्बुकः ।। ३६३.
The vaikaṅkata, śruvāvṛkṣa, granthila, vyāghrapāda, tinduka, sphūrjaka, kāla, nādeyī, and bhūmijambuka trees are found.
काकतिन्दौ पीलुकः स्याकत् पाटलिर्मोक्षमुष्ककौ । क्रमुकः पट्टिकाख्यः स्यात् कुम्भी कैटर्य्यकट्फले ।। ३६३.
The kākatindu, pīluka, syākat, pāṭali, mokṣa, muṣkaka, kramuka, paṭṭikā, kumbhī, kaiṭarya, and kaṭphala trees are present.
वीरवृक्षोऽरुष्करोऽग्निमुखी भल्लातकी त्रिषु । सर्जकासनजीवश्च पीतसालेऽथ मालके ।। ३६३.
The vīravṛkṣa, aruṣkara, agnimukhī, and bhallātakī in three forms; the sarjakā, sanajīva, pītasāla, and mālaka trees are there.
सर्जाश्वकर्णौ वीरेन्द्रौ इन्द्रद्रुः ककुभोऽर्जुनः । इङ्गुदी तापसतरर्मोचा शाल्मलिरेव च ।। ३६३.
The sarja, aśvakarṇa, vīrendra, indradru, kakubha, arjuna, iṅgudī, tāpasatara, mocā, and śālmalī trees are also present.
चिरविल्वो नक्तमालः करजश्च करञ्चके । प्रकीर्य्यः पूतिकरजो मर्कट्यङ्गरवल्लरी ।। ३६३.
The ciravilva, naktamāla, karaja, and karañcaka; the prakīrya, pūtikaraja, and the monkey-limbed vallarī are found.
