सप्तन्तु मूर्त्तिभेदेन विभक्तं मन्यतेऽच्युतम्। चत्वारिशत् करं क्षेत्रं ह्युत्तरं विभजेत् क्रमात्
Seven, divided by forms, are considered as the imperishable; the field with forty hands should be divided in order.
एकैकं सप्तधा भूयस्तथैवैकं द्विधा पुनः। चतुः षष्ट्युत्तंर सप्तशतान्येकं सहस्त्रकम्
Each is divided sevenfold, and likewise, one is divided twice again; sixty-four and seven hundred, and one thousand compartments.
कोष्ठकानां भद्रकञ्च मध्ये षोडशकोष्ठकैः। पार्श्वे वीथीं ततश्चाष्टभद्राण्यथ च वीथिका
The auspicious enclosure and compartments in the center with sixteen compartments; then, at the sides, a row and eight auspicious enclosures, and also a small row.
षोडशाव्जान्यथो वीथी चतुर्विंशतिपङ्कजम्। वीथीपद्मानि द्वात्रिंशत् पङ्क्तिवीथिकजान्यथ
Sixteen rows and a row, twenty-four lotuses; thirty-two row-lotuses, and also those arising from the row and small row.
चत्वारिशत्ततो वीथी शेषपङ्क्तित्रयेण च। द्वारशोभोपशोबाः स्युर्द्दिक्षु मध्ये विलोप्य च
Then forty rows, with three remaining rows; the doors and their beauty are enhanced in the directions, and erased in the center.
द्विच्तुः षड्द्वारसिद्ध्यै चतुर्द्दिक्षु विलोपयेत्। पञ्च त्रीण्येककं बाह्ये शोबोपद्वारसिद्धये
For the establishment of two, four, and six doors, erase in the four directions; five, three, and one outside, for the establishment of beautiful secondary doors.
द्वाराणां पार्श्वयोरन्तः पड् वा चत्वारि मध्यतः। द्वे द्वे लुम्पेदेवमेव षड् भवन्त्युपशोभिकाः
At the doors, inside at the sides, four in the middle; erase two by two, thus six become the embellishments.
एकस्यां दिशि सङ्ख्याः स्युः चतस्त्रः परिसङ्ख्यया
In one direction, the numbers are four, according to the enumeration.
एकैकस्यां दिशि त्रीणि द्वारण्यपि भवन्त्युत। पञ्च पञ्च तु कोणेषु पङ्क्तौ पङ्क्तौ क्रमात् सृजेत्
In each direction, there should be three gateways; at each corner, five by five should be arranged in sequence, forming rows.
कोष्ठकानि भवेदेवं मर्त्येष्ट्यं मण्डलं शुभम्
In this way, the enclosures are made, and thus the auspicious circle for the human sacrifice is established.
नारद उवाच मध्ये पद्मे यदेद्ब्रह्म साङ्गं पूर्वेब्जनाभकम्। आग्नेयेब्जे च प्रकृतिं याम्येब्जे पुरुषं यजेत्
Nārada said: In the central lotus, one should worship Brahma with his limbs, in the eastern petal the lotus-naveled one; in the southeastern petal, Prakriti; in the southern petal, Purusha.
पुरुषाद्दशिणे वह्निं नैर्ऋते वारुणेनिलम्। आदित्यमैन्दवे पद्मे ऋग्यजुश्चैशपद्मके
To the right of Purusha, worship Agni; in the southwest, Varuna and Vayu; in the western petal, Aditya; in the northwest, the Rig and Yajur Vedas, and in the northern petal, the Ishana aspect.
इन्द्रादींश्च द्वितीयायां पद्मे षोडशके तथा। सामाथर्वाणमाकाशं वायु तेजस्तता जलम्
In the second circle of petals, worship Indra and the other deities, sixteen in all; also Sama, Atharva, Akasha, Vayu, Tejas, and then Jala.
पृथिवीञ्च मनश्चैव श्रोत्रं त्वक् चक्षुरर्च्चयेत्। रसनाञ्च तथा घ्राणं भूर्भुवश्चैव षोडशम्
Worship Earth, Mind, Ear, Skin, and Eye; likewise, the Tongue and Nose, and the sixteenth, Bhur, Bhuvah, and Svah.
महर्जनस्तपः सत्यं तथाग्निष्टोममेव च। अत्यग्निष्टोमकं चौक्थं षोडशीं वाजपेयकम्
Mahar, Janas, Tapas, Satya, and also the Agnishtoma; the Atiratra, Uktha, Shodashi, and Vajapeya sacrifices.
अतिरात्रञ्च सम्पूज्य तथाप्तोर्याममर्च्चयेत्। मनो बुद्धिमहङ्कारं शब्दं स्पर्शञ्च रूपकम्
Having duly worshipped Atiratra, also worship Aptoryama; Mind, Intellect, Ego, Sound, Touch, and Form.
रसं गन्धञ्च पद्मे षु चतुर्विंशतिषु क्रमात्। जीवं मनोधिपञ्चाहं प्रकृतिं शब्दमात्रकम्
Taste and Smell, in the twenty-four petals in order; Life, Lord of Mind, the five senses, Prakriti, and the principle of Sound.
वासुदेवादिमूर्त्तिंश्च तथा चैव दशात्मकम्। मनः श्रोत्रं त्वचं प्रार्च्च्य चक्षुश्च रसनं तथा
Also the forms beginning with Vasudeva, ten in total; worship Mind, Ear, Skin, Eye, and likewise the Tongue.
घ्राणं वाक्पाणिपादञ्च द्वात्रिंशद्वारिजेष्विमान्। चतुर्थावरणे पूज्याः साङ्गाः सपरिवारकाः
Nose, Speech, Hands, and Feet—these thirty-two should be worshipped in the lotus petals; in the fourth enclosure, worship those with their limbs and retinues.
पायूपस्थौ च सम्पूज्य मासानां द्वादशाधिपान्। पुरुषोत्तमादिषड्विशानं बाह्यावरणकेयजेत्
Also worship the anus and the generative organ, and the twelve lords of the months; in the outer enclosure, worship the six groups beginning with Purushottama.
चक्राब्जे तेषु सम्पूज्या मासानां पतयः क्रमात्। अष्टौ प्रकृतयः षड् वा पञ्चाथ चतुरोऽपरे
In the wheel-lotus, worship the lords of the months in order; eight Prakritis, then six, five, and four others.
रजः पातं ततः कुर्य्याल्लिखिते मण्डले श्रृणु। कर्णिका पीतवर्णा स्याद्रेशाः सर्वाः सिताः समाः
Then, draw the lines in the diagram; listen: the pericarp should be yellow, and all the petals white and equal.
द्विहस्तेऽङ्गुष्ठमात्राः स्युर्हस्ते चार्द्धसमाः सिताः। पद्मं शुक्लेनसन्धींस्तु कृष्णेन श्यामतोथवा
The petals should be the size of a thumb in two hands, and half as much in one hand, all white; join the lotus with white at the joints, and with black or dark blue as desired.
केशरा रक्तपीताः स्युः कोणान् रक्तेन पूरयेत्। भूषयेद्योगपीठन्तु यथेष्टं सार्ववर्णिकैः
The filaments should be red and yellow; fill the corners with red; decorate the yogapitha as desired with all colors.
लतावितानपत्राद्यैर्वींथिकामुपशोभयेत। पीठद्वारे तु शुक्लेन शोभारक्तेन पीततः
Adorn the structure with creepers, canopies, leaves, and the like; at the seat's entrance, use white for beauty, red for splendor, and yellow as well.
उपसोभाञ्च नीलेन कोणशंशाँस्च वै सितान्। भद्रके पूरणं प्रोक्तमेवमन्येषु पूरणम्
Enhance the decorations with blue, and make the corners white; the filling for the Bhadraka is prescribed thus, and similarly for the others.
अरकान् पीतरक्ताभिः श्यामान् नेमिन्तुरक्ततः। सितश्यामारुणाः सृष्णाः पीता रेखास्तु बाह्यतः
The araka seeds are dark with red lines, blackish from the red; white, black, and red lines are outside, and yellow lines are on the exterior.
शालिपिष्टादि शुक्लं स्याद्रक्तं कौसुम्भकादिकम्। हरिद्रया च हारिद्रं कृष्णं स्याद्दग्धधान्यतः
Powder from rice and similar grains is white; from safflower and the like, it is red; from turmeric, it is yellow; from burnt grains, it is black.
शमीपत्रादिकैः श्यामं वीजानां लक्षजाप्यतः। चतुर्लक्षैम्तु मन्त्राणां विद्यानां लक्षसाधनम्
From śamī leaves and the like, the seeds are dark; the marks on seeds are also dark; four hundred thousand is the measure for mantras and for the accomplishment of vidyās.
अयुतं बुद्धविद्यानां स्तोत्राणाञ्च सहस्त्कम्। पूर्ब्वमेवाथ लक्षेण मन्त्रसुद्धिस्तथात्मनः
Ten thousand is the measure for buddhividyās, and a thousand for hymns; previously, with one hundred thousand, the mantra and the self are purified.
