ज्येष्ठाग्रं निक्षिपेन्मध्ये भेदनी स प्रकीर्त्तिता । नाभिदेशे तु तां बद्ध्वा अङ्गुष्ठानुन्क्षिपेत्ततः ।। ३१०.
Place the tip of the middle finger in the center; this is called Bhedanī. After binding it at the navel region, place the thumbs there.
कराली तु महामुद्रा हृदये योज्य मन्त्रिणः । पुनस्तु पूर्व्ववद् बद्धलग्नां ज्येष्ठां समुत्क्षिपेत् ।। ३१०.
Karālī is the great mudrā, to be joined at the heart by the adept; then, as before, bind and raise the middle finger.
वज्रतुण्डा समाख्याता वज्रदेशे तु बन्धयेत् । उभाभ्याञ्चैव हस्ताभ्यां मणिबन्धन्तु बन्धयेत् ।। ३१०.
Vajratuṇḍā is so named; it should be bound at the Vajra region. With both hands, bind at the wrists.
त्रीणि त्रीणि प्रसार्य्येति वज्रमुद्रा प्रकीर्त्तिता । दण्डः खड्गञ्चक्रगदा मुद्रा चाकारतः स्मृता ।। ३१०.
Extend three fingers each; this is called Vajramudrā. The staff, sword, discus, and mace are mudrās according to their forms.
अङ्गष्ठेनाक्रमेत् त्रीणि त्रिशूलञ्चोद्र्ध्वतो भवेत् । एकातु मध्यमोद्र्ध्वा तु शक्तिरेव विधीयते ।। ३१०.
Press three fingers with the thumb; above, this becomes the trident. If only the middle finger is raised, it forms the śakti.
शरञ्च वरदञ्चापं पाशं भारञ्च घण्टया । शङ्खमङ्कुशमभयं पद्ममष्ट च विंशतिः ।। ३१०.
Arrow, boon, bow, noose, weight, and bell; conch, goad, fearlessness, lotus—these eight and twenty.
अग्निरुवाच दीक्षादि वक्ष्ये विन्यस्य सिंहवज्राकुलेऽब्जके । हे हुति वज्रदन्त पुरु लुलु गर्ज्ज इह सिंहासनाय नमः । तिर्य्यगूद्र्ध्वगता रेखाश्चत्वारश्चतुरो भवेत् ।। ३११.
Agni said: I will explain initiation, placing in the lion, vajra, lotus, and abja seats. 'He huti vajradanta puru lulu garjja iha siṃhāsanāya namaḥ.' Four lines, horizontal and vertical, should be made.
नवभागविभागेन कोष्ठकान् कारयेद्बुधः । ग्राह्या दिशागताः कोष्ठा विदिशासु विनाशयेत् ।। ३११.
With division into nine parts, the wise should make squares; those squares aligned with the directions are to be taken, those in the intermediate directions are to be removed.
वाह्ये वै कोष्ठकोणेषु वाह्यरेखाष्टकं स्मृतम् । वाह्यरेखा भवेद्वका द्विभङ्गा कारयेद्बुधः ।। ३११.
At the outer corners of the squares, eight outer lines are remembered; the outer line is Vaka, the wise should make it with two bends.
वज्रस्य मध्यमं श्रृङ्गं द्विधार्धतः । वाह्यरेखा भवेद्वक्रा द्विभङ्गा कारयेद्बुधः ।। ३११.
The middle horn of the vajra is divided in two halves; the outer line is Vaka, the wise should make it with two bends.
मध्यकोष्ठं भवेत्पद्मं पीतकर्णिकमुज्ज्वलम् । कृष्णेन रजसा लिख्य कुलिशासिशिरोद्र्ध्वता ।। ३११.
The central square should be a lotus with a bright yellow center; drawn with black pigment, with the vajra and sword above.
वाह्यतश्चतुरस्रन्तु वज्रसम्पुटलाञ्छितम् । द्वारे प्रदापयेन्मन्त्री चतुरो वज्रसम्पुटान् ।। ३११.
Outside, a quadrangle marked with a vajra enclosure; at the doors, the adept should place four vajra enclosures.
पद्मनाम भवेद्वामवीथी चैव समा भवेत् । गर्भं रक्तं केशराणि मण्डले दीक्षिताः स्त्रियः ।। ३११.
The left path is called Padma, and it should be equal; the womb is red, the filaments are within the circle, and the women are consecrated.
जयेच्च परराष्ट्राणि क्षइप्रं राज्यमवाप्नुयात् । मूर्त्ति प्रणवसन्दीप्तां हूँकारेण नियोजयेत् ।। ३११.
He should conquer foreign kingdoms and swiftly attain sovereignty; the form, kindled by the sound of Om, should be engaged with the syllable hūṃ.
मूलविद्यां समुच्चार्य्यं मरुद्व्योमगतां द्विज । प्रथमेन पुनश्चैव कणिकायां प्रपूजयेत् ।। ३११.
Reciting the root mantra, O twice-born, which moves through wind and sky, he should first worship in the particle, and then again.
एवं प्रदक्षिणं पूज्य एकैकं वीजमादितः । दलमध्ये तु विद्याङ्गा आग्नेय्यां पञ्च नैर्ऋतम् ।। ३११.
Thus, worshipping in a clockwise manner, each seed syllable from the beginning; in the middle of the petal are the limbs of the mantra, five in the southeast and southwest.
मध्येनेत्रं दिशारूञ्च स्वैः स्वैर्म्मन्त्रैः प्रपूजयेत् । मध्येनेत्रं दिशारूञ्च गुह्यकाङ्गे तु रक्षणम् ।। ३११.
He should worship the central eye and the guardians of the directions with their respective mantras; the central eye and the guardians of the directions, and protection at the secret limb.
पञ्च पञ्च प्रपूज्यास्तु स्वैः स्वैर्म्मन्त्रैः प्रपूजयेत् । लोकपालान्न्यसेदष्टौ वाह्यतो गर्भमण्डले ।। ३११.
He should worship five and five, each with their own mantras; he should place the eight guardians of the world outside the central circle.
वर्णान्तमग्निमारूढं षष्ठस्वरविभेदितं । पञ्चदशेन चाक्रान्तं स्वैः स्वैर्नामभि योजयेत् ।। ३११.
He should join the end of the syllables, mounted on fire, divided by the sixth note, and penetrated by the fifteenth, with their respective names.
शीघ्रं सिंहे कर्णिकायां यजेद् गन्धादिभिः श्रिये । अष्टाभिर्वेष्टयेत् कुम्भैर्म्मन्त्राष्टशतमन्त्रितैः ।। ३११.
Swiftly, in the lion's position at the center, he should worship with fragrances and the like for prosperity; he should surround with eight pots, each with a hundred and eight mantras.
मन्त्रमष्टसहस्रन्तु जप्त्वाङ्गानां दशांशकम् । होमं कुर्य्यादग्निगुण्डे वह्निमन्त्रेण चालयेत् ।। ३११.
Having recited eight thousand mantras, a tenth for the limbs, he should perform the fire offering in the fire pit, stirring it with the fire mantra.
निक्षिपेद् हृदयेनाग्निं शक्तिं मध्येऽग्निगां स्मरेत् । गर्भाधानं पुंसवनं जातकर्म्म च होमयेत् ।। ३११.
He should deposit fire with the heart, and remember the power in the center of the fire; he should perform the rites of conception, quickening, and birth.
हृदयेन शतं ह्येकं गुह्याङ्गे जनयेच्छिखिम् । पूर्णाहुत्या तु विद्यायाः शिवाग्निर्ज्वलियो भवेत् ।। ३११.
With the heart, he should generate one hundred in the secret limb as flames; with the full offering of the mantra, the auspicious fire of Shiva should blaze forth.
होमयेन्मूलमन्त्रेण शतञ्चाङ्गं दशांशतः । निवेदयेत्ततो देव्यास्ततः शिष्यं प्रवेशयेत् ।। ३११.
He should offer a hundred with the root mantra, and a tenth for the limbs; then he should present it to the goddess, and then admit the disciple.
अस्त्रेण ताडनं कृत्वा गुह्याङ्गानि ततो न्यसेत् । विद्याङ्गैश्चेव सन्नद्धं विद्याङ्गेषु नियोजयेत् ।। ३११.
Having struck with the weapon mantra, he should then place the secret limbs; and, being equipped with the limbs of the mantra, he should assign them to the mantra limbs.
पुष्पं क्षिपाययेच्छिष्यमानयेदग्निकुण्डकम् । यवैर्द्वान्यैस्तिलैराज्यैर्मूलविद्याशतं हुनेत् ।। ३११.
He should have the disciple throw a flower and lead him to the fire pit; with barley, two doors, sesame, and clarified butter, he should offer a hundred root mantras.
स्थावरत्वं पुरा होमं सरीसृपमतः परं । पक्षिमृगपशुत्वञ्च मानुषं ब्राह्ममेव च ।। ३११.
First, the state of immobile beings is offered in the fire, then that of reptiles; then that of birds, wild animals, domestic animals, humans, and finally that of Brahma.
विष्णुत्वञ्चैव रुद्रत्वमन्ते पूर्णाहुतिर्भवेत् । एकया चैव ह्याहुत्या शिष्यः स्याद्दीक्षितो भवेत् ।। ३११.
Then the state of Vishnu and Rudra, and at the end, the full offering is made; with a single offering, the disciple becomes initiated.
अधिकारो भवेदेवं श्रृणु मोक्षमतः परम् । सुमेरुस्थो यदा मन्त्री सदाशिवपदे स्थितः ।। ३११.
Thus, authority is attained; now listen to liberation thereafter: when the officiant stands on Mount Meru, established in the state of Sadashiva.
परे च होमयेत् स्वस्थोऽकर्म्मकर्म्मशतान् दश । पूर्णाहुत्या तु तद्योगी धर्म्माधर्मैर्न लिप्यते ।। ३११.
Then, being self-possessed, he should offer ten hundred acts and non-acts; with the full offering, that yogi is not tainted by virtue or vice.
