ध्यात्वा सपरिवारान्तामभ्यर्च्य सकरं लभेत् । द्रोणाव्जपुष्पश्रीवृक्षपर्णं मूद्र्ध्नि न धारयेत् ।। ३०८.
Having meditated upon her together with her retinue and worshipped her with proper offerings, one attains the desired result; but one should not place the droṇa flower, lotus, auspicious tree leaf, or any such item upon the head.
लवणामलकं वर्ज्जं नागादित्यतिथौ क्रमात् । पायसाशी जपेत् सूक्तं क्षियस्तेनाभिषेचयेत् ।। ३०८.
Salt and amalaki are to be avoided, as are nāga, aditya, and atithi in order; one who eats rice pudding should recite the hymn and perform consecration with it.
आवाहादिविसर्गान्तां मूद्र्ध्नि ध्यात्वार्च्ययेत् श्रियम् । विल्वाज्याव्जपायसेन पृथग् योगः श्रिये भवेत् ।। ३०८.
Meditating upon and worshipping Śrī on the head, from invocation to dismissal, one should offer vilva, ghee, lotus, and rice pudding separately; this practice brings prosperity.
ओं ह्रीँ महामहिषमर्हिनि ठ ठ मूलमन्त्रं महिषहिसके नमः । महिषशत्रुं भ्रामय हूँ फट् ठ ठ महिषं हेषय हूं महिषं हन देवि हूँ महिषनिसूदनि फट् । दुर्गाहृदयमित्युक्तं साङ्गं सर्वार्थसाधकम् ।। ३०८.
Om hrīṃ, O mighty buffalo-destroyer, ṭha ṭha, root mantra, salutations to the buffalo-slayer; drive away the enemy of the buffalo, hūṃ phaṭ ṭha ṭha, subdue the buffalo, hūṃ, slay the buffalo, O goddess, hūṃ, destroyer of the buffalo, phaṭ. This is called the heart of Durgā, complete with its limbs, accomplishing all purposes.
यजेद्यथोक्तं तां देवीं पीठञ्चैवाङ्गमध्यागम् । ओं ह्रीँ दुर्गे रक्षणि स्वाहा चेति दुर्गायै नमः । वरवर्ण्यै नमः । आर्य्यायै कनकप्रभायै कृत्तिकायै अभयप्रदायै कन्यकायै सुरूपायै ३०८.
One should worship the goddess as prescribed, along with the seat and the middle of the limbs. Om hrīṃ, O Durgā, protector, svāhā; thus, salutations to Durgā, salutations to the excellent-complexioned, salutations to the noble, to the golden-radiant, to Kṛttikā, to the giver of fearlessness, to the maiden, to the beautiful one.
चक्राय शङ्खाय गदायै खड्गाय धनुषे वाणाय ।। अष्टम्याद्यैरिमां दुर्गा लोकेशान्तां यजेदिति । दर्गायोगः समायुःश्रीस्वामिरक्ताजयादिकृत् ।। ससाध्येसानमन्त्रेण तिलहोमो वशीकरः । जयः पद्मैस्तु दुर्व्वाभिः शान्तिः कामः पलाशजैः ।। ३०८.
To the discus, conch, mace, sword, bow, and arrow, one should worship Durgā, the ruler of the world, on the eighth day and so forth. The practice of Durgā is performed by Śrīsvāmi with red offerings and so on. With the proper mantra, sesame oblation brings control; victory is gained with lotuses, appeasement with durvā grass, desire with palāśa flowers.
पुष्टिः स्यात् काकपक्षेण मृतिद्वेषादिकं भवेत् । ग्रहक्षुद्रभयापत्तिं सर्वमेव मनुर्हरेत् ।। ३०८.
Nourishment is achieved with crow's feathers; enmity towards death and similar effects arise. The mantra removes all dangers from planets, minor afflictions, fears, and calamities.
ओं दुर्गे दुर्गे रक्षणि स्वाहा । रक्षाकरीयमुदिता जयदुर्गाङ्गसंयुता । श्यामां त्रिलोचनां देवीं ध्यात्वात्मानं चतुर्भुजम् ।। ३०८.
Om Durgā, Durgā, protector, svāhā. The act of protection is joyful, joined with the victorious limbs of Durgā. Meditating on the dark, three-eyed goddess, one should visualize oneself as four-armed.
शङ्खचक्राव्जशूलादित्रिशूलां रौद्ररूपिणीं । युद्धादौ सञ्जयेदेतां यजेत् शड्घादिके जये ।। ३०८.
With conch, discus, lotus, spear, and trident, fierce in form, one should invoke her at the beginning of battle and worship her for victory at the sixth and other auspicious times.
अग्निरुवाच त्वरिताङ्गान्समाख्यास्ये भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायकान् । ओं आधारशक्त्यै नमः । ओं ह्रीँ पुरु महासिंहाय नमः । ओं पद्माय नमः । ओं ह्रीँ ह्रूँ खेचछेक्षः । स्त्रीँ ओं ह्रूँ क्षैँ ह्रूँ फट् त्वरितायै नमः । खे च हृदयाय नमः । चछे शिरसे नमः । छेक्षः शिखायै नमः । क्षस्त्री कवचाय नमः । स्त्रीँ ह्रूँ नेत्राय नमः । ह्रूँ खे अस्त्राय फट् नमः । ओं त्वरिताविद्यां विद्महे तूर्णविद्याञ्च धीमहि तन्नो देवी प्रचोदयात् । श्रीप्रणितायै नमः । ह्रूँ कारायै नमः । ओं खेच हृदयाय नमः । खेचर्य्यै नमः । ओं चण्डायै नमः । छेदन्यै नमः क्षेपण्यै नमः । स्त्रियै ह्रूँ कार्य्यै नमः । क्षेमङ्कर्य्यै- जयायै किङ्कराय रक्ष । ओं त्वरिताज्ञया स्थिरो भव वषट् । तोतला त्वरिता तूर्णेत्येवं विद्येयमीरिता ।। ३०९.
Agni said: I will describe the Tvaritā mantras, which grant enjoyment and liberation. Om, salutations to the supporting power; om hrīṃ, salutations to the great lion; om, salutations to the lotus; om hrīṃ hrūṃ, O sky-wandering one; strīṃ om hrūṃ kṣaiṃ hrūṃ phaṭ, salutations to Tvaritā; to the heart in the sky, salutations; to the head, salutations; to the crest, salutations; to the armor, salutations; strīṃ hrūṃ, to the eyes, salutations; hrūṃ, to the weapon in the sky, phaṭ, salutations; om, may we know Tvaritā-vidyā, may we meditate on swift knowledge, may the goddess inspire us; salutations to the creator; hrūṃ to the form; om, to the heart in the sky, salutations; to the sky-wanderer, salutations; om, to Caṇḍā, salutations; to the cutter, salutations; to the thrower, salutations; to the woman, hrūṃ to the action, salutations; to the bringer of welfare, to victory, to the servant, protect; om, by Tvaritā's command, be firm, vaṣaṭ; Tvaritā is called Totalā and Tūrṇā; thus this knowledge is declared.
शिरोब्रुमस्तके कण्ठे हृदि नाभौ च गुह्यके । उर्व्वोश्च जानुजङ्घोरुद्वये चरणयोः क्रमात् ।। ३०९.
On the head, crown, neck, heart, navel, secret place, thighs, knees, shanks, and feet, in order.
न्यस्ताङ्गो न्यस्तमन्त्रस्तु समस्तं व्यापकं न्यसेत् । पार्वती शवरी चेशा वरदाभयहस्तिका ।। ३०९.
Having placed the limbs and mantras, one should establish the all-pervading presence. Pārvatī and Śavarī are the presiding deities, with hands granting boons and fearlessness.
मयूरबलया पिच्छमौलिः किसलयांशुका । सिंहासनस्था मायूरवर्हच्छत्रसमन्विता ।। ३०९.
Adorned with a peacock bracelet, crowned with peacock feathers, clothed in tender shoots, seated on a lion throne, accompanied by a peacock fan.
त्रिनेत्रा श्यामला देवी वनमालाविभूषणा । विप्राहिकर्णाभरणा क्षत्रकेयूरभूषणा ।। ३०९.
The goddess is three-eyed and dark-complexioned, adorned with a forest garland, with earrings for the brāhmaṇas and armlets for the kṣatriyas.
वैश्यानागकटोबन्धा वृषलाहिकृतनूपुरा । एवं रूपात्मिका भूत्वा तन्मन्त्रं नियुतं जपेत् ।। ३०९.
With a girdle for the vaiśyas and anklets made by the śūdras, thus embodying this form, one should recite the corresponding mantra countless times.
ईशः किरातरूपोषऽभूत् परा गौरी च तादृशी । जपेद्ध्यायेत् पूजयेत्तां सर्वसिद्ध्यैविषादिहृत् ।। ३०९.
The lord took the form of a hunter, and Parā Gaurī likewise; one should recite, meditate upon, and worship her, removing all obstacles to accomplishment.
अष्टसिंहासने पूज्या दले पूर्वादिके क्रमात् । अङ्गणायत्री प्रणीता हूङ्काराद्या दलग्रके ।। ३०९.
She is to be worshipped on the eight lion seats, in the petals beginning from the east in order; the limbs are established by the praṇitā and hūṃkāra and others at the petal positions.
फट्कारी चाग्रतो देव्याः श्रीवीजेनार्च्चयेदिमाः । लोकेशायुधवर्णास्ताः फट्कारी तु धनुर्द्धरा ।। ३०९.
The one uttering phaṭ is placed before the goddess; one should worship these with the Śrī seed. Those bearing the weapons of the lords of the world are described; the one uttering phaṭ holds the bow.
जया च विजया द्वास्थे पूज्ये सौवर्णयष्टिके । किङ्कण वर्वरी मुण्डी लगुड़ी च तयोर्वरिः ।। ३०९.
Jaya and Vijaya are the gatekeepers, to be honored with golden staffs; Kiṅkaṇa, Varvarī, Muṇḍī, and Lagurī are their attendants.
इष्ट्वैवं सिद्धयेद्द्रव्यैः कुण्डे योन्याकृतौ हुनेत् । हेमलाभोऽर्जुनैर्द्धान्यैर्गोधूमैः पुष्टिसम्पदः ।। ३०९.
After performing the ritual with these materials in the altar shaped like a womb, one should offer oblations; gold is obtained with arjuna wood and grains, and nourishment with wheat.
यवैर्द्धान्यैस्तिलैः सर्वसिद्धिरीतिविनाशनम् । अक्षैरुन्मत्तता शत्रोः शाल्मलीभिश्च मारणम् ।। ३०९.
With barley, grains, and sesame, all accomplishments are achieved and obstacles removed; with dice, the enemy becomes mad, and with śālmalī wood, destruction is wrought.
जम्बुभिर्धनधान्याप्तिस्तुष्टिर्नीलोत्पलैरपि । रक्तोत्पलैर्म्महापुष्टिः कुन्दपुष्पैर्म्महोदयः ।। ३०९.
With jambū fruits, wealth and grain are gained, and satisfaction with blue lotuses; with red lotuses, great nourishment, and with jasmine flowers, great prosperity.
मल्लिकाभिः परक्षोभः कुमुदैर्जनवल्लभः । अशोकैः पुत्रलाभः स्यात् पाटलाभिः शुभाङ्गना ।। ३०९.
With mallikā flowers, agitation of others occurs; with kumuda flowers, one becomes beloved by people; with aśoka flowers, sons are obtained; with pāṭalā flowers, auspicious women.
आम्रैरायुस्तिलैर्ल्लक्षअमीर्विल्वैः श्रीश्चम्पकैर्द्धनम् । इष्टं मधुकपुष्पैश्च विल्वैः सर्वज्ञतां लभेत् ।। ३०९.
With mangoes, longevity; with sesame, Lakṣmī; with bilva, prosperity; with campaka, wealth; with madhuka flowers, desired results; and with bilva, omniscience is attained.
त्रिलक्षजप्यात्सर्व्वाप्तिर्होमाद्ध्यानात्तथेज्यया । मण्डलेऽभ्यर्च्च्य गायत्र्या आहुतीः पञ्चविंशतिम् ।। ३०९.
By reciting the mantra three hundred thousand times, all attainments are gained through homa, meditation, and worship; in the circle, worshiping with the Gāyatrī, offer twenty-five oblations.
दद्याच्छतत्रयं मूलात् पल्लवैर्दीक्षितो भवेत् । पञ्चगव्यं पुरा पीत्वा चरूकं प्राशयेत्सदा ।। ३०९.
One should give three hundred shoots from the root, and with their leaves, become initiated; after drinking pañcagavya, always consume the sacrificial food.
अग्निरुवाच अपरां त्वरिताविद्यां वक्ष्येऽहं भुक्तिमुक्तिदां । परेवज्राकुले१ देवीं रजोभिर्लिखिते यजेत् ।। ३१०.
Agni spoke: I will now describe another swift knowledge, which grants both enjoyment and liberation; worship the supreme goddess Vajrākulā, drawn with red powders.
पद्मगर्भे दिग्विदिक्षु चाष्टौ वज्राणि वीथिकां । द्वाशोभोपशोभाञ्च लिखेच्छीघ्रं स्मरेन्नरः ।। ३१०.
In the lotus center, in all directions, eight vajras are drawn as pathways; quickly one should draw and remember them.
अष्टादशभुजां सिंहे वामजङ्घा प्रतिष्ठिता । दक्षिणा द्विगुणा तस्याः पादपीठे समर्पिता ।। ३१०.
She is depicted with eighteen arms, seated on a lion, with her left leg placed; her right leg is doubled, and offered at the footrest.
नागभूषां वज्रकुण्डे खड्गं चक्रं गदां क्रमात् । शूलं शरं तथा शक्तिं वरदं दक्षिणैः करैः ।। ३१०.
Adorned with serpent ornaments, in the vajra altar, she holds sword, discus, mace, trident, arrow, spear, and boon in her right hands, in order.
