Agni Purana

जानुभ्यामवनीङ्गत्वा सूर्य्यायार्घ्यं निवेदयेत् । स्वविद्यामन्त्रितैः कुम्भैर्नवभिः प्रार्च्य वै महान् ।। ३०१.

Having touched the earth with the knees, one should present arghya to the Sun; worship the great one with nine pots, using one's own mantra and knowledge.

ग्र्हादिशान्तये स्नानं जप्त्वार्क्क सर्वमाप्नुयात् । संग्रामविजयं साग्निं वीजदोषं सविन्दुकं ।। ३०१.

For the pacification of the house, bathe and recite the Sun's name to obtain all; victory in battle, purification by fire, removal of seed faults, and with the moon.

न्यस्य मूर्द्धादिपादान्तं मूलं पूज्य तु मुद्रया । स्वाङ्गानि च यथान्यासमात्मानं भावयेद्रविं ।। ३०१.

Placing the root from the crown of the head to the feet, worship it with a gesture; arrange one's own limbs as prescribed, and contemplate oneself as the Sun.

ध्यानञ्च मारणस्तम्भे पीतमाप्यायने सितम् । रिपुघातविधौ कृष्णं मोहयेच्छक्रचापवत् ।। ३०१.

For meditation in destruction and immobilization, use yellow; for nourishment, use white; for the killing of enemies, use black, and enchant like Indra's bow.

योऽभिषेकजपध्यानपूजाहोमपरः सदा । तेजस्वी ह्यजयः श्रीमान् समुद्रादौ जयं लभेत् ।। ३०१.

Whoever is always devoted to ablution, recitation, meditation, worship, and offering, is radiant, unconquered, prosperous, and attains victory even at the ocean.

ताम्बूलादाविदं न्यस्य जप्त्वा दद्यादुशीरकं । न्यस्तवीजेन हस्तेन स्पर्शनं तद्वशे स्मृतम्।। ३०१.

After placing betel and reciting, one should give uśīra; with the hand placed on the seed, touching is considered under its control.

अग्निरुवाच वाक्कर्म्मपार्श्वयुक्शुक्रतोककृते मतो प्लवः । हुतान्ता देशवर्णेयं विद्या मुख्या सरस्वती ।। ३०२.

Agni said: The raft is considered for speech, action, and the sides, for the offspring of semen; after the offering, the place and color are described, and the chief knowledge is Sarasvatī.

अक्षाराशी वर्णलक्षं जपेत् स मतिमान् भवेत् । अत्रिः सवह्निर्वामाक्षिविन्दुरिन्द्राय हृत्परः ।। ३०२.

One who recites a hundred thousand syllables becomes wise; Atri, with fire, left, moon, Indra, and heart as the goal.

वज्रपद्मधरं शक्रं पीतमावाह्य पूजयेत् । नियुतं होमयेदाज्यतिलांस्तेनाभिषेचयेत् ।। ३०२.

Invoke and worship Indra, who holds the thunderbolt and lotus, in yellow; offer ghee and sesame in hundreds, and anoint with them.

नृपादिर्भ्रष्टराज्यादीन्राज्यपुत्रादिमाप्नुयात् । हृल्लेखा शक्तिदेवाख्या दोषारग्निर्द्दण्डिदण्डवान् ।। ३०२.

He attains kingship and sons of kings, even those who have lost their kingdom; the heart's mark is called the power deity, and Agni punishes the guilty.

शिवमिष्ट्वा जपेच्छक्तिमष्टम्यादिचतुर्द्दशीं । चक्रपाशाङ्कुशधरां साभयां वरदायिकां ।। ३०२.

Having worshipped Śiva, one should recite the power on the eighth and fourteenth days; she holds the discus, noose, and goad, is fearless, and grants boons.

होमादिना च सौभाग्यं कवित्वं पुत्रवान् भवेत् । ओं ह्रीं ओं नमः कामाय कर्व्वजनहिताय सर्व्वजनमोहनाय प्रज्वलिताय सर्व्वजनहृदयं ममात्मगतं कुरु ओं । एतज्जपादिना मन्त्रो वशयेत् सकलं जगत् ।। ३०२.

Through offerings and other rites, one attains good fortune, poetic skill, and sons; 'Om hrīṃ om, obeisance to Kāma, for the benefit of all, for enchanting all, for blazing, make the heart of all people my own, om.' By reciting this mantra and related rites, one can subdue the entire world.

ओं ह्रीं चामुण्डेअमुकन्दह पच मम वशमानय ठ । वशीकरणकृन्मन्त्रश्चामुण्डायाः प्रकीर्त्तितः । फलत्रयकषायेण वरङ्गं क्षालयेद्वशे ।। ३०२.

'Om hrīṃ, Cāmuṇḍā, burn, cook, bring under my control, ṭha.' The mantra for subjugation is declared for Cāmuṇḍā; with the juice of the three fruits, wash the body for control.

अश्वगन्धायवैः स्त्री तु निशाक्कर्पूरकादिना । पिप्पलीतण्डुलान्यष्टौ मरिचानि च विंशतिः ।। ३०२.

For a woman, use a mixture of aśvagandhā, night, camphor, and others; eight grains of pippalī and twenty black pepper seeds.

वृहतीरसलेपश्च वशे स्यान्मरणान्तिकं । कटीरमूलत्रिकटुक्षौद्रलेपस्तथा भवेत् ।। ३०२.

With an ointment of vṛhatī and rasa, one achieves control, even up to death; similarly, an ointment of kaṭīra root, trikatu, and honey is effective.

हिमं कपित्थकरभं मागधी मधुकं मधु । तेषां लेपः प्रयुक्तस्तु दम्पत्योः स्वस्तिमावहेत् ।। ३०२.

A paste made from snow, wood apple, carob, Magadha fruit, honey, and honey, when applied, brings well-being to a married couple.

सशर्क्करयोनिलेपात् कदम्बरसको मधु । तेषां लेपः प्रयुक्तस्तु दम्पत्योः स्वस्तिमावहेत् ।। ३०२.

A paste made from sugar, clay, kadamba juice, and honey, when applied, brings well-being to a married couple.

एतच्चूर्णं शिरःक्षिप्तं वशमुत्तमम् । त्रिफला चन्दनक्काथप्रश्था द्विकुड़वम् पृथ्‌क् ।। ३०२.

This powder, when placed on the head, brings supreme control: triphala, sandalwood, catechu, and twice the amount of kurava, each separately.

भृङ्गहेमरसन्दोषातावती चुञ्चुकं मधु । घृतैः पक्का निशा छाया शुष्का लोप्या तु रञ्जनी ।। ३०२.

From the mixture of bhringa, gold juice, and honey, with ghee, cooked at night, dried, and used as a paste, it acts as a coloring agent.

विदारीं सोच्चटामाषचूर्णीभूतां सशर्करां । मथितां यः पिवेत् क्षीरैर्नित्यं स्त्रीशतकं ब्रजेत् ।। ३०२.

One who drinks, daily, a mixture of vidari, urad, and chickpea powder with sugar, churned with milk, will enjoy the company of a hundred women.

गुल्ममाषतिलव्रीहिचूर्णक्षीरसितान्वितं । अश्वत्थवंशदर्भाणं मूलं वै वैष्णवीश्रियोः ।। ३०२.

A mixture of powder of gulma, urad, sesame, rice, milk, and sugar, together with the roots of the sacred fig, bamboo, and darbha grass, brings Vaishnava glory.

मूलं दूर्व्वाश्वगन्धोत्थं पिवेत् क्षीरैः सुतार्थिनी । कौन्तीलक्ष्म्याः शिफा धात्री वज्रं लोध्रं वटाङ्कुरम् ।। ३०२.

One seeking children should drink, with milk, the root of durva and ashwagandha; the pods of kunti and lakshmi, gooseberry, vajra, lodhra, and the sprout of the banyan.

आज्यक्षीरमृतौ पेयं पुत्रार्थ त्रिदिवं स्त्रिया । पुत्रार्थिनी विबेत् क्षीरं श्रीमृलं सवटाह्कुरम् ।। ३०२.१७ श्रीवटाङ्कुरदेवीनां रसं तस्ये पिवेच्च सा । श्रीपद्ममूलमुत्‌क्षीरमश्वत्थोत्तरमूलयुक् ।। ३०२.

For the desire of a son, one should drink ghee and milk during the full moon; a woman desiring a son should drink milk with the root of shri-mrila and banyan sprout.

तरलं पयसा युक्तं कार्पासफलपल्लवं । अपामार्गस्य पुष्पाग्रं नवं समहिषीपयः ।। ३०२.

The tender fruit and leaf of cotton, mixed with milk, and the fresh flower tip of apamarga, together with buffalo milk, should be consumed.

पुत्रार्थञ्चार्द्धषट्‌शाकैर्योगाश्चत्वार ईरिताः । शर्करोत्‌पलपुष्पाक्षलोद्रचन्दनसारिवाः ।। ३०२.

For the desire of a son, four combinations with half a dozen vegetables are prescribed: sugar, lotus flower, aksha, lodhra, sandalwood, and sārivā.

स्नवमाणे स्त्रिया गर्भे दातव्यास्तण्डुलाम्भसा । लाजा यष्टिसिताद्राक्षाक्षौद्रसर्पींषि वा लिहेत् ।। ३०२.

When a woman is pregnant, she should be given rice water; puffed rice, licorice, grapes, honey, and ghee may also be consumed.

अटरुषकलाङ्गुल्यः काकमाच्याः शिफा पृथक् । नाभेरघः समालिप्य प्रसूते प्रमदा सुखम् ।। ३०२.

The roots of ataru, kalāṅguli, and kakamāchi, separately, should be applied to the navel; when smeared, the woman gives birth comfortably.

रक्तं शुक्लं जवापुष्पं रक्तशुक्लस्रुतौ पिवेत् । केशरं वृहतीमूलं गोपीयष्टितृणोत्पलम् ।। ३०२.

One should drink red and white hibiscus flowers when there is red and white discharge; saffron, the root of vṛhatī, cow's grass, licorice, and lotus.

साजक्षीरं सतैलं तद्भक्षणं रोमजन्मकृत् । शीर्य्यमाणेषु केशेषु स्थापनञ्च भवेदिदम् ।। ३०२.

Eating this mixture with milk and oil produces hair growth; for falling hair, this remedy is also effective.
