द्वावेतौ पक्षिराड्मन्त्रौ विषघ्नावभिमन्त्रणात् । पक्षिराजाय विद्महे पक्षिऽदेवाय धीमहि तन्नो गरुडः प्रचोदयात् । वह्निस्थौ पार्श्वतत्पूर्वौ दन्तश्रीकौ च दण्डिनौ ।। २९५.
These two bird-king mantras, when empowered, destroy poison; we know the bird-king, we contemplate the bird-deity, may Garuda inspire us; placed in fire, at the sides, in front, with tooth-glory and staff.
हर हर हृदयाय नमः कपर्द्दिने च शिरसे नीलकण्ठाय वै शिखांकालकूटविषभक्षणाय स्वाहा । अथ वर्म्म च कण्ठे नेत्रं कृत्तिवासास्त्रिनेत्रं पूर्वाद्यैराननैर्युक्तं स्वेतपीतारुणासितैः ।। २९५.
Remove, remove, to the heart, homage; to Kapardin, to the head, to Nīlakaṇṭha, to the crest, to Kālakūṭa, the poison-eater, svāhā; and the armor at the throat, the eye, Kṛttivāsa, three-eyed, joined with faces from the east and other directions, white, yellow, red, and black.
अभयं वरदं चापं वासुकिञ्च दधद्भुजैः । यस्योपरीतपार्श्वस्थगौरीरुद्रोऽस्य देवता ।। २९५.
With arms holding fearlessness, boon, bow, and Vāsuki; at whose side stands Gaurī and Rudra—these are his deities.
. पादजानुगुहानाभिहृत्कण्ठाननमूर्द्धसु । मन्त्रार्णान्न्यस्य करयोरङ्गुष्ठाद्यङ्गुलीषु च ।। २९५.
At the feet, knees, groin, navel, heart, throat, face, and head, place the syllables of the mantra on the hands, beginning with the thumbs and fingers.
तर्ज्जन्यादितदन्तासु सर्वमङ्गुष्ठयोर्न्न्यसेत् । ध्यात्वैवं संहरेत् क्षिप्रं वद्धया शूलमुद्रया ।। २९५.
Place them on the index and other fingers, and on all thumbs; meditating thus, one quickly restrains with the spear-mudrā.
कनिष्ठा ज्येष्ठया वद्धा तिस्रोऽन्याः प्रसृतेर्ज्जवाः । विषनाशे वामहस्तमन्यस्मिन् दक्षिणं करं ।। २९५.
With the little finger bound to the eldest, the other three extended swiftly; for the destruction of poison, place the left hand on the right.
ओं नमो भगवते नीलकण्ठाय चिः अमलकण्ठाय चिः । सर्वज्ञकण्ठाय चिः क्षिप ओं स्वाहा । अमलनीलकण्ठाय नैकसर्वविषापहाय । नमस्ते रुद्रमंन्यव इति सम्मार्ज्जनाद्विपं विनश्यति- न सन्देहः कर्णजाप्या उपानहावा । यजेद्रुद्रविधाने नीलग्रीवं महेश्वरम् । विषव्याधिविनाशः स्यात् कृत्वा रुद्रविधानकं ।। २९५.
Om, homage to the blessed Nīlakaṇṭha, ciḥ; to the stainless-throated, ciḥ; to the all-knowing-throated, ciḥ; cast out, om, svāhā; to the stainless Nīlakaṇṭha, to the one who removes all kinds of poison; homage to Rudra, O fierce one—by this sweeping, the poison vanishes, without doubt, by recitation at the ear or by wearing on the feet; one should worship Nīlagrīva Maheśvara according to the Rudra rite; the destruction of poison and disease occurs by performing the Rudra rite.
अग्निरुवाच वक्ष्ये रुद्रविधानन्तु पञ्चाङ्गं सर्व्वदं परं । हृदयं [https://sa.wikisource.org/s/1zc6 शिवसङ्कल्पः] शिवः सूक्तन्तु पौरुषम् ।। २९६.
Agni said: I will explain the Rudra rite, the fivefold, supreme, bestowing all; the heart is the Shiva resolve, and the Sūkta is the masculine.
शिखाद्भ्यः सम्भृतं सूक्तमाशुः कवचमेव च । शतरुद्रीयमस्त्रञ्च रुद्रस्याङ्गानि पञ्च हि ।। २९६.
From the crest arises the Sūkta, and quickly the armor as well; the Śatarudrīya, the weapon, and the five limbs of Rudra.
पञ्चाङ्गान्न्यस्य तं ध्यात्वा जपेद्रुद्रांस्ततः क्रमात् । यज्जाग्रत इति सूक्तं षडृचं मानसं विदुः ।। २९६.
Placing the five limbs, meditating on him, one should recite Rudra in order; the Sūkta 'yajjāgrata' is known as the six-versed mental hymn.
ऋषिः स्याच्छिवसङ्कल्पश्छन्दस्त्रिष्टुबुदाहृतं । शिवः सहस्रशीर्षेति तस्य नारायणोऽप्यृषिः।। २९६.
The seer is Śivasaṅkalpa; the meter is said to be Triṣṭubh. 'Śiva of a thousand heads'—for this, Nārāyaṇa is also the seer.
देवता पुरुषोऽनुष्टुप्छन्दो ज्ञेयञ्च त्रैष्टुभम् । अद्भ्यः सम्भृतं सूक्तमृषिरुत्तरगोनरः ।। २९६.
The deity is Puruṣa; the meter is Anuṣṭubh, and it should be known that the Triṣṭubh is also present. The hymn is composed from the waters; the seer is Uttara Goṇara.
आद्यानान्तिसृणां त्रिष्टुप्छन्दोऽनुष्टुब्द्वयोरपि । छन्दस्त्रैष्टुभमन्त्यायाः पुरुषोऽस्यापि देवता ।। २९६.
For the first three, the meter is Triṣṭubh; for the next two, it is also Anuṣṭubh. The final one has the meter Triṣṭubh, and its deity is Puruṣa.
आशुरिन्द्रो द्वादशानां छन्दस्त्रिष्टुबुदाहृतं । ऋषिः प्रोक्तः प्रतिरथः सूक्ते सप्तदशार्च्चके ।। २९६.
Swift Indra is the deity of twelve; the meter is said to be Triṣṭubh. The seer is named Pratiratha for the hymn with seventeen verses.
पृथक्पृथक् देवताः स्युः पुरुविदङ्गदेवता । अवशिष्टदैवतेषु छन्दोऽनुष्टुबुदाहृतं ।। २९६.
The deities are distinct for each; the knowledgeable know the respective deities. For the remaining deities, the meter is said to be Anuṣṭubh.
असौ यस्ताम्रो भवतीन्द्रः पुरुलिङ्गोक्तदेवताः । पङ्क्तिच्छन्दोऽथ मर्म्माणि त्वपो लिङ्गोक्तदेवताः ।। २९६.
He who is reddish is Indra, with many forms as stated; the meter is Paṅkti. The vital points are associated with water, with the deities as mentioned.
रौद्राध्याये च सर्व्वस्मिन्नृषिः स्यात् परमेष्ठ्यपि । प्रजापतिर्व्वा देवानां कुत्सस्य तिसृणां पुनः ।। २९६.
In the entire Raudra section, the seer is also Parameṣṭhin; or Prajāpati for the gods, and for three, Kutsa is again the seer.
मनोद्वयोरुमैका स्याद्रुद्रो रुद्राश्च देवताः । आद्योनुवाकोऽथ पूर्व्व एकरुद्राख्यदैवतः ।। २९६.
For the two relating to mind, Umā alone is the deity, and Rudra and the Rudras are also deities. The first anuvāka and the previous one have the deity named Ekarudra.
छन्दो गायत्रमाद्याया अनुष्टुप् तिसृणामृचाम् । तिसृणाञ्च तथा पङ्क्तिरनुष्टुबथ संस्मृतम् ।। २९६.
The meter for the first is Gāyatrī; for three verses, it is Anuṣṭubh. Likewise, for three, it is Paṅkti, and then again Anuṣṭubh is remembered.
द्वयोश्च जगतीछन्दो रुद्राणामप्यशीतयः । हिरण्यबाहवस्तिस्रो नमो वः किरिकाय च ।। २९६.
For two, the meter is Jagatī; for the Rudrāṇīs, there are eighty. 'Golden-armed'—three times; 'Salutations to you,' and also to Kirikā.
पञ्चर्च्चो रुद्रदेवाः स्युर्मन्त्रे रुद्रानुवाकके । विंशके रुद्रदेवास्ताः प्रथमा बृहती स्मृता ।। २९६.
In the five-verse hymn to Rudra, the deities are Rudra; in the mantra called Rudrānuvāka, there are twenty Rudra deities, and the first is known as Bṛhatī.
ऋग्द्वितीया त्रिजगती तृतीया त्रिष्टुबेव च । अनुष्टुभो यजुस्तिस्र आर्योभिज्ञः सुसिद्धिभाक् ।। २९६.
The second is in the Ṛg meter, three are in Jagatī, and the third is in Triṣṭubh. Three in Yajus are in Anuṣṭubh; the knower of the noble is successful.
त्रैलोक्यमोहनेनापि विषव्याध्यरिमर्द्दनं । इँ श्रीँ ह्रीँ ह्रैँ हूँ त्रैलोक्यमोहनाय विष्णवे नमः ।। २९६.
By this, which bewilders the three worlds, poisons, diseases, and enemies are destroyed: 'iṃ śrīṃ hrīṃ hraiṃ hūṃ—Salutation to Viṣṇu, the bewilderer of the three worlds.'
ओं हं इँ उग्रवीरं महाविष्णुं ज्वलन्तं सर्वतोमुखं । नृसिंहं भीषणं भद्रं मृत्युमृत्युन्नमाम्यहं ।। २९६.
Om haṃ iṃ—to the fierce hero, the great Viṣṇu, blazing, facing all directions; to Narasiṃha, the terrifying, the auspicious, the death of death—I bow.
अयमेव तु पञ्चाङ्गो मन्त्रः सर्वार्थसाधकः । द्वादशाष्टाक्षरौ मन्त्रौ विषव्याधिविमर्द्दनौ ।। २९६.
This indeed is the five-part mantra, accomplishing all aims. The twelve- and eight-syllabled mantras destroy poison and disease.
कुब्जिका त्रिपुरा गौरी चन्द्रिका विषहारिणी । प्रसादमन्त्रो विषहृदायुरारोग्यवर्द्धनं ।। २९६.
Kubjikā, Tripurā, Gaurī, Candrikā, Viṣahāriṇī—the grace-bestowing mantra removes poison and increases life and health.
सौरो विनायकस्तद्वद्रुद्रमन्त्राः सदाखिलाः ।। २९६.
The Sūrya and Vināyaka mantras are likewise always Rudra mantras in their entirety.
अग्निरुवाच ओं नमो भगवते रुद्राय छिन्द विषं ज्वलितपरशुपाणये च । नमो भगवते पक्षिरुद्राय दष्टकं उत्थापय दष्टकं कम्पय जल्पय सर्प्पदष्टमुत्थापय लल बन्व मोचय वररुद्र गच्छ बध त्रुट वुक भीषय मुष्टिना संहर विषं ठ ठ । पक्षिररुद्रेण ह विषं नाशमायाति मन्त्रणात् ।। ओं नमो भगवते रुदज्र नाशय विषं स्थावरजङ्गमं कृत्रिमाकृत्रिमविषमुपविषं नाशय नानाविषं दष्टकविषं नाशय धम दम वम मेघान्धकारधाराकर्षर्निर्विषयीभव संहर गच्छ आवेशय विषोत्थापनरूपं मन्त्रान्ताद्विषधारणं ओं क्षिप ओं क्षिप स्वाहा । ओं ह्राँ ह्रीँ खीँ सः ठन्द्रौँ ह्रीँ ठः । जपादिना साधितस्तु सर्पान् बध्नाति नित्यशः ।। २९७.
Agni said: Om, obeisance to the blessed Rudra; destroy the poison, O wielder of the blazing axe. Obeisance to the blessed bird-Rudra; raise up the bitten one, shake the bitten one, speak, raise up the one bitten by a serpent, loosen the tongue, release the poison, O excellent Rudra, go, bind, break, frighten, seize with the fist, remove the poison, ṭha ṭha. By the bird-Rudra, indeed, the poison is destroyed by the mantra. Om, obeisance to the blessed Rudra, destroy the poison, whether stationary or moving, artificial or natural, destroy the poison, all kinds of poison, the poison of the bitten, destroy, blow, subdue, vomit, draw away the clouds of darkness, become devoid of poison, remove, go, possess, in the form of raising up from poison, by the mantra at the end, holding the poison—Om, cast out, Om, cast out, svāhā. Om hrāṃ hrīṃ khīṃ saḥ ṭhandrauṃ hrīṃ ṭhaḥ. By reciting this, one always binds serpents.
एकद्वित्रिचतुर्वीजः कृष्णचक्राङ्गपञ्चकः । गोपीजनवल्लभाय स्वाहा सर्वार्थसाधकः ।। २९७.
With one, two, three, or four seeds, with five black-spoked limbs, offered to Gopījanavallabha with svāhā, it accomplishes all aims.
ओं नमो भगवते रुद्राय प्रेताधिपतये गुत्त्व गर्ज्ज भ्रामय मुञ्च मुह्य कट आविश सुवर्णपतङ्ग रुद्रो ज्ञापयति ठ । पातालक्षोभमन्त्रोयं मन्त्रणाद्विषनाशनः । दंशकाहिदंशे सद्यो दष्टः काष्ठशिलादिना ।। २९७.
Om, obeisance to the blessed Rudra, lord of the dead; protect, roar, whirl, release, bewilder, bind, enter, golden-winged Rudra commands, ṭha. This is the mantra for agitating the underworld; by its recitation, poison is destroyed. For the bite of a venomous snake or wood, stone, and the like, when bitten, it acts immediately.
