विरेकः सर्व्वरोगघनः श्रेष्ठो नाराचसंज्ञकः । सिद्धयोगा मुनिभ्यो ये आत्रेयेण प्रदर्शिताः ।। २८५.
Purgation called nārāca is the best, destroying all diseases; these perfected formulas were shown to the sages by Ātreya.
सर्वरोगहराः सर्वयोगाग्र्याः सुश्रुतेन हि ।। २८५.
All these formulas, praised by Suśruta, are foremost and remove all diseases.
धन्वन्तरिरुवाच कल्पान्मृत्युञ्चयान्वक्ष्ये ह्यायुर्द्दान्रोगमर्द्दनान् । त्रिशती रोगहा सेव्या मध्वाज्यत्रिफलामृता ।। २८६.
Dhanvantari said: I will now explain the methods for conquering death, granting long life, and destroying disease; the triple hundred, to be used, removes disease, with honey, ghee, triphalā, and amṛtā.
पलं पलार्द्धं कर्षं वा त्रिफलां सकलां तथा । विल्वतैलस्य नस्यञ्च मासं पञ्चशती कवि ।। २८६.
One pala, half a pala, or a karṣa of whole triphalā, and nasal drops of bilva oil, should be used for five months, O sage.
रीगापमृत्युबलिजत् तिलं भल्लातकं तथा । पञ्चाङ्गं वाकुचीचूर्णं षण्मासं शकदिरोदकैः ।। २८६.
For conquering premature death, one should use sesame and bhallātaka, and powder of five parts of vākucī, for six months, with the juice of sugarcane.
क्काथैः कुष्ठञ्जयेत् सेव्यं चूर्णं लीलकुरुण्टजम् । क्षीरेण मधुना वापि शतायुः खण्डदुग्धभुक् ।। २८६.
With decoctions, one should conquer leprosy; the powder of līlā and kuruṇṭaja should be used, with milk or honey, or by one who eats broken milk, for a hundred years.
मध्वाज्यशुण्ठीं संसेव्य पलं प्रातः स मृत्युजित् । बलीपलितजिज्जीवेन्माण्डूकी चूर्णदुग्धपाः ।। २८६.
Having taken honey, ghee, and dry ginger, one pala in the morning—such a person conquers death; strong, free from gray hair, and long-lived is he who drinks powder of Māṇḍūkī with milk.
उच्चटामधुना कर्ष पयःपा मृत्युजिन्नरः । मध्वाज्यैः पयसा वापि निर्गुण्डी रोगमृत्युजित् ।। २८६.
He who drinks one karṣa of uccaṭā with honey and milk conquers death; likewise, with honey, ghee, or milk, nirguṇḍī overcomes disease and death.
पलाशतैलं कर्षैकं षण्मासं मधुना पिवेत् । दुग्धभोजी पञ्चशती सहस्रायुर्भ्वेन्नरः ।। २८६.
Drinking one karṣa of palāśa oil with honey for six months, while taking milk as food, a man lives for five hundred years, attaining a thousand years of life.
ज्योतिष्मतीपत्ररसं पयसा त्रिफलां पिवेत् । मधुनाज्यन्ततस्तद्वत् शतावर्य्या रजः पलं ।। २८६.
One should drink the juice of jyotiṣmatī leaves with milk, and triphalā; then, in the same way with honey and ghee, and a pala of śatāvarī powder.
क्षौद्राज्यैः पयसा वापि निर्गुण्डी रोगमृत्युजित् । रुदन्तिकाकज्यमधुभुक् दुग्धभोजी च मृत्युजित् ।। २८६.
With honey, ghee, or milk, nirguṇḍī conquers disease and death; eating rudantikā resin with honey, and taking milk as food, one conquers death.
कर्षं भृङ्गरसेनापि रोगजीच्चामरो भवेत् । रुदन्तिकाज्यमधुभुक् दुग्धभोजी च मृत्युजित् ।। २८६.
By drinking one karṣa of bhṛṅgarāja juice, one becomes free from disease and gray hair; eating rudantikā resin with honey, and taking milk as food, one conquers death.
कर्षचूर्णं हरीतक्या भावितं भृङ्गराड्रसैः । घृतेन मधुना सेव्य त्रिशतायुश्च रोगजित् ।। २८६.
One who takes one karṣa of harītakī powder, prepared with bhṛṅgarāja juice, along with ghee and honey, lives for three hundred years and conquers disease.
वाराहिका भृङ्गरसं लोहचूर्णं शतावरी । साज्यं कर्षं पञ्चशती कार्त्तचूर्णं शतावरी ।। २८६.
Vārāhikā, bhṛṅgarāja juice, iron powder, śatāvarī with ghee, one karṣa; five hundred years for one who takes śatāvarī powder prepared thus.
भावितं भृङ्गराजेन मध्वाज्यन्त्रिशती भवेत् । ताम्रं मृतं मृततुल्यं गन्धकञ्च कुमारिका ।। २८६.
Prepared with bhṛṅgarāja, honey, and ghee, it becomes three hundred years; copper, incinerated and purified, and sulphur with aloe vera.
रसैविमृज्य द्वे गुञ्जे साज्यं पञ्चशताब्दवान् । अश्वगन्धा पलं तैलं साज्यंखण्डं शताब्दवान् ।। २८६.
After rubbing with mercury, two guñjās with ghee, one lives for five hundred years; a pala of aśvagandhā oil with ghee and sugar, one lives for a hundred years.
पलम्पुनर्न्नवाचूर्णं मध्वाज्यपयसा पिवन् । अशोकचूर्णस्य पलं मध्वाज्यं पयसार्त्तिन्त् ।। २८६.
By drinking a pala of punarnavā powder with honey, ghee, and milk; and a pala of aśoka powder with honey, ghee, and milk likewise.
तिलस्य तैलं समधु नस्यात् कृष्णकचः शती । कर्षमक्षं समध्वाज्यं शतायुः पयसा पिवन् ।। २८६.
Sesame oil with honey, used as nasal drops, makes hair black for a hundred years; one karṣa of akṣa with honey and ghee, drinking with milk, grants a hundred years of life.
अभयं सगुडञ्जग्ध्वा घृतेन मधुरादिभिः । दुग्धान्नभुक् कृष्णकेशोऽरोगी पञ्चशताब्दवान् ।। २८६.
Having eaten harītakī with jaggery, along with ghee and sweet substances, and taking milk and rice as food, one with black hair, free from disease, lives for five hundred years.
पलङ्कुष्माण्डिकाचूर्णं मध्वाज्यपयसा पिवन् । मासं दुग्धान्नभोजी च सहस्रायुविंशोगवान् ।। २८६.
By drinking a pala of kuṣmāṇḍikā powder with honey, ghee, and milk for a month, and eating milk and rice, one lives for a thousand years, possessing strength.
शालूकचूर्णं भृङ्गाज्यं समध्वाज्यं शताब्दकृतं । कटुतुम्बीतैलनस्यं कर्षं शतद्वयाब्दवान् ।। २८६.
Śālūka powder with bhṛṅgarāja ghee and honey, prepared for a hundred years; nasal drops of kaṭutumbī oil, one karṣa, grant two hundred years of life.
त्रिफला पिप्पली शुण्ठी सेविता त्रिशताव्दकृत् । शतावर्य्याः पूर्वयोगः सहस्रायुर्बलातिकृत् ।। २८६.
Triphalā, long pepper, and dry ginger, when taken, grant three hundred years of life; the previous formula of śatāvarī gives a thousand years and surpassing strength.
चित्रकेन तथा पूर्वस्तथा शुण्ठीविडङ्गतः । लोहेन भृङ्गराजेन बलया निम्बपञ्चकैः ।। २८६.
With citraka, as before, and with dry ginger and viḍaṅga; with iron, bhṛṅgarāja, bala, and the five parts of nimb tree.
खदिरेण च निर्गुण्ड्या कण्टकार्य्याथ वासकात् । वर्षाभुवा तद्रसैर्वा भावितो वटिकाकृतः ।। २८६.
With khadira, nirguṇḍī, kaṇṭakāri, and vāsaka; or prepared with the juices of varṣābhu, made into pills.
चूर्णङ्घृतैर्वा मधुना गुडाद्यैर्वारिणा तथा । ॐ ह्रूं स इति मन्त्रेण मन्त्रितो योगराजकः ।। २८६.
With powders mixed with ghee, honey, jaggery, or water, the Yogarājaka should be consecrated using the mantra 'Om hrūṃ sa.'
मृतसञ्जीवनीकल्पो रोगमृत्युञ्जयो भवेत् । सुरासुरैश्च मुनिभिः सेविताः कल्पसागराः ।। २८६.
This acts as a reviver of the dead, conquering disease and death; these oceans of formulas have been practiced by gods, demons, and sages.
गजायुर्वेदं प्रोवाच पालकाप्योऽङ्गराजकं ।। २८६.
Pālakāpya taught the elephant Ayurveda and the Angarājaka.
पालकाप्य उवाच गजलक्षअम चिकित्साञ्च लोमपाद वदामि ते । दीर्घहस्ता महोच्छ्वासाः प्रशस्तास्ते सहिष्णवः ।। २८७.
Pālakāpya said: I will tell you, Lomapāda, about the characteristics and treatment of elephants; those with long trunks and deep breaths are esteemed and enduring.
विंशत्यष्टादशनखाः शीतकालमदाश्च ये । दक्षिणञ्चोन्नतन्दन्तं वृंहितं जलदोपमं ।। २८७.
Those with twenty or eighteen nails, who are active in cold seasons, whose right tusk is raised, and whose body is robust and cloud-like—
हस्तिन्यः पार्श्वगर्भिण्यो ये च मूढा मतङ्गजाः । वर्णं सत्वं बलं रूपं कान्तिः संहननञ्जवः ।। २८७.
Pregnant female elephants and those confused among elephants: their color, temperament, strength, form, radiance, build, and speed—
