महौषधं मृतां क्षुद्रां पुष्करं ग्रन्थिकोद्भवं । पिवेत् कणायुतं क्काथं मूर्च्छायाञ्च मदेषु च ।। २८५.
The great medicine, mṛtā, kṣudrā, puṣkara, and granthikodbhava — one should drink a decoction of these with a measure of kaṇā to treat fainting and intoxication.
हिङ्गुसौवर्च्चलव्योषैर्द्विपलांशैर्घृताढकं । चतुर्गुणे गवां मूत्रे सिद्धमुन्मादनाशनं ।। २८५.
With equal parts of asafoetida, orpiment, and long pepper, and four times as much clarified butter, prepared with cow's urine, this remedy destroys insanity.
शङ्खपुष्पीवचाकुष्ठैः सिद्धं ब्राह्मीरसैर्युतं । पुराणआं हन्त्यपस्मारं सोन्मादं मेध्यमुत्तमं ।। २८५.
Clarified butter prepared with śaṅkhapuṣpī, vacā, kuṣṭha, and the juice of brahmī — this ancient remedy cures epilepsy, insanity, and is supremely beneficial for the mind.
पञ्चगव्यं घृतं तद्वत् कुष्ठनुच्चाभ्यायुतं । पटोलत्रिफलानिम्बगुडु वीधावणीवृषैः ।। २८५.
Similarly, clarified butter with pañcagavya and kuṣṭha, along with paṭola, triphalā, nimbaguḍu, vīdhā, and vaṇī, is used for treatment.
सकरञ्जैर्घृतं सिद्धं कुष्ठनुद्वज्र्कं स्मृतं । निम्बं पटोलं व्याघ्री च गुडुची वासकं तथा ।। २८५.
Clarified butter prepared with karañja is known as a powerful remedy for skin diseases; neem, paṭola, vyāghrī, guduchi, and vāsaka are also included.
कुर्य्याद्दशपलान् भागान् एकैकस्य सकुट्टितान् । जलद्रोणए विपक्तव्यं यावत्पादावशेषितं ।। २८५.
One should take ten palas of each, pounded together, and cook them in a vessel of water until only a quarter remains.
घृतप्रस्थम्प्चेत्तेन त्रिफलागर्भसंयुतं । पञ्चतिक्तमिति ख्यातं सर्पिः कुष्ठविनाशनं ।। २८५.
If one adds a prastha of clarified butter to this, along with the pulp of triphalā, it is known as pañcatikta ghee, a destroyer of skin diseases.
अशीतिं वातजान् रोगान् चत्वारिंशच्च पैत्तिकान् । विंशतिं श्लैष्मिकान् कासपीनसार्शोव्रणादिकान् ।। २८५.
It cures eighty diseases caused by wind, forty by bile, and twenty by phlegm, as well as cough, nasal congestion, hemorrhoids, wounds, and similar ailments.
हन्त्यन्यान् योगराजोषऽयं यथार्कस्तिमिरं खलु । त्रिफलायाः कषायेन् भृङ्गराजरसेन च ।। २८५.
This royal remedy destroys other diseases just as the sun dispels darkness, with a decoction of triphalā and the juice of bhṛṅgarāja.
ब्रणप्रक्षालनङ्कुर्यादुपदंशप्रशान्तये । पटोलदलचूर्णेन दाडिमत्वग्रजोऽथ वा ।। २८५.
One should wash ulcers to soothe chancres with powder of paṭola leaves, or with pomegranate or tvagra.
गुण्डयेच्च गजेनापि त्रिफलाचूर्णकेन च । त्रिफलायोरजोयष्टिमार्कवोत्पलमारिचै ।। २८५.
One should also fumigate with gajena and triphalā powder; the dust of triphalā, yaṣṭimadhu, arka, blue lotus, and black pepper.
ससैन्धवैः पचेत्तैलमभ्यह्गाच्छर्द्दिकापहं । सक्षीरान् मार्कवरसान् द्विप्रस्थमधुकोत्पलैः ।। २८५.
Cook oil with rock salt for anointing; it removes vomiting. Add milk, the juice of arka, two prasthas of licorice and blue lotus.
पचेत्तु तैलकुडवं तन्नस्यं पलितापहं । निम्बम्पटोलं त्रिफला गुडूची खदिरं वृषं ।। २८५.
One should cook the oil-pot with neem, patola, triphala, guduchi, khadira, and vriṣa; this removes gray hair.
भूनिम्बपाठात्रिफलागुडूचीरक्तचन्दनं । योगद्वयं ज्वरं हन्ति कुष्ठविस्फोटकादिकं ।। २८५.
Bhūnimba, pāṭhā, triphala, guduchi, and red sandalwood—these two formulas destroy fever and skin diseases like leprosy and eruptions.
पटोलामृतभूनिम्बवासारिष्टकपर्पटैः । खदिरान्तयुतैः क्काथो विस्फोटज्वरशान्तिकृत् ।। २८५.
A decoction made from patola, amrita, bhūnimba, vāsā, ariṣṭa, parpaṭa, and khadira ends fever and eruptions.
दशमूली च्छिन्नरुहा पथ्या दारु पुनर्नवा । ज्वर्रावद्रधिशोथेषु शिग्रुविश्वजिता हिताः ।। २८५.
Daśamūlī, chinnaruhā, pathyā, dāru, and punarnavā, along with śigru and viśvajitā, are beneficial for fever, swelling, and dropsy.
मधूकं निम्बपत्राणि लेपः स्याद् व्रणशोधनः । त्रिफला खदिरो दार्वी न्यग्रोधातिबलाकुशाः ।। २८५.
A paste of madhūka and neem leaves cleanses wounds; triphala, khadira, dārvī, nyagrodha, atibalā, and kuśa are also used.
निम्बमूलकपत्राणां कषायाः शोधने हिताः । करञ्जारिष्टनिर्गुण्डीरसो हन्याद् व्रणक्रिमीन् ।। २८५.
Decoctions of neem root and leaves are effective for cleansing; the juice of karañja, ariṣṭa, and nirguṇḍī destroys worms in wounds.
धातकीचन्दनबलासमह्गामधुकोत्पलैः । दार्वीमेदोन्वितैर्लेपः ससर्पिर्व्रणरोपणः ।। २८५.
A paste made from dhātakī, sandalwood, balā, madhuka, utpala, and dārvī, mixed with ghee and fat, promotes healing of wounds.
गुग्गुलुत्रिफलाव्योषसमांशैर्घृतयोगतः । नाडी दुष्टवणं शूलम्भगन्दरमुखं हरेत् ।। २८५.
A mixture of guggulu, triphala, and vyosha in equal parts, prepared with ghee, removes pain, swelling, and foul-smelling wounds in the channels.
हरितकीं मूत्रसिद्धां सतैललवणान्वितां । प्रातः प्रातश्च सेवेत् कफवातामयापहां ।। २८५.
One should take haritaki, prepared with urine, oil, and salt, every morning; it removes diseases of phlegm and wind.
त्रिककटुत्रिफलाक्काथं९ सक्षारलवणं पिवेत् । कफवातात्मकेष्वेव विंरेकः कफवृद्धिनुत् ।। २८५.
One should drink a decoction of trikatu and triphala, with alkaline salt; in disorders of phlegm and wind, purgation reduces excess phlegm.
पिप्पलीपिप्पलीमूलवचाचित्रकनागरैः । क्काथितं वा पिवेत्पेयमामवातविनाशनं ।। २८५.
A decoction or drink made from pippali, pippali root, vacā, citraka, and nāgara destroys diseases caused by undigested wind.
रास्नां गुडुचीमेरण्डदेवदारुमहौषधं । पिवेत् सर्वाड्गिके वाते सामे सन्ध्यस्थिमज्जगे ।। २८५.
One should drink a decoction of rāsnā, guduchi, castor, devadāru, and great medicines for all kinds of wind affecting joints, bones, and marrow.
दशमूलकषायं वा पिवेद्वा नागराम्भसा । सुण्ठीगोक्षुरकक्काथः प्रातः प्रातर्न्निषेवितः ।। २८५.
Alternatively, one may drink a decoction of daśamūla, or water infused with nāgara; a decoction of sunthi and gokṣura should be taken every morning.
सामवातकटीशूलपाचनो रुक्प्रणाशनः । समूलपत्रशाखायाः प्रसारण्याश्च तैलकं ।। २८५.
Oil made from the root, leaf, and branch of prasāraṇī relieves pain and digestion issues in the lower back caused by wind.
गुडुच्याः सुरसः कल्कः चूर्णं वा क्काथमेव च । प्रभूतकालमासेव्य मुच्यते वातशोणितात् । २८५.
A paste or powder, or even a decoction, of guduchi and surasa, taken for a long time, frees one from wind and blood disorders.
पिप्पली वर्द्धमानं वा सेव्यं पथ्या गुडेन् वा । पटोलत्रिफलातीव्रकटुकामृतसाधितं ।। २८५.
Pippali, or vardhamāna, should be taken with pathyā or jaggery; patola, triphala, and intense pungent amrita are also beneficial.
पक्वं पीत्वा जयत्याशु सदाहं वातशोणितं । गुग्गुलं कोष्णशीते तु गुडुची त्रिफलाम्भ्सा ।। २८५.
Drinking it when cooked quickly cures burning and wind-blood disorders; guggulu, with warm or cold guduchi and triphala water, is also effective.
बलापुनर्न्नवैरण्डवृहतीद्वयगोक्षुरैः । सहिङ्गु लवणैः पीतं सद्यो वातरुजापहं ।। २८५.
A decoction of balā, punarnava, castor, both vṛhatī, and gokṣura, with hing and salt, when drunk, immediately removes pain caused by wind.
