त्रिफलायाः पलशतं पृथग्भृङ्गजभावितम् । विङ्ङ्गं लोहचूर्णञ्च दशभागसमन्वितम् ।। २८३.
One hundred palas of triphalā, separately infused with bhṛṅgaja, and mixed with viṅṅga and iron powder in a tenth part proportion.
शतावरीगुडुच्यग्निपलानां शतविंशतिः । मध्वाज्यतिलजैर्लिह्यद् बलीपलितवर्ज्जितः ।। २८३.
Twenty palas each of śatāvarī, guḍucī, agni, and palā, to be licked with honey, ghee, and sesame, strengthens the body and prevents greying of hair.
सितामधुघृतैर्युक्ता सकृष्णा त्रिफला तथा । त्रिफला सर्वरोगघ्नीस मधुः सर्क्करान्विता ।। २८३.
Triphalā, combined with sugar, honey, and ghee, and also with black harītakī, is a remedy for all diseases when mixed with honey and sugar.
सितामधुघृतैर्युक्ता सकृष्णा त्रिफला तथा । पथ्याचित्रकशुण्ठ्यश्च गुडुचीमुष्लीरजः ।। २८३.
Triphalā, combined with sugar, honey, and ghee, and also with black harītakī, along with pathyā, citraka, śuṇṭhī, guḍucī, and muṣlī powder.
सगुडं भक्षितं रोगहरं त्रिशतवर्षकृते । किञअचिच्चूर्णं जवापुष्पं पिण्डितं विमृजेज्जले ।। २८३.
When eaten with jaggery, it destroys diseases and grants a lifespan of three hundred years; a little powder of kiñcaka and javā flower, made into a paste, should be rubbed with water.
तैलं भवेद् घृताकारं किञ्चिच्चूर्ण्णं जलान्वितं । धूपार्थं दृश्यते चित्रं वृषदंशजरायुना ।। २८३.
The oil, resembling ghee, with a little powder and water, is used for incense; it appears remarkable when combined with the gall of the vṛṣadaṃśa insect.
पुनर्म्माक्षिकधूपेन दृश्यते तद्याथा पुरा । कर्पूरजलकाभेकतैलं पाटलिमूलयुक् ।। २८३.
Again, when fumigated with honey, it appears as before; oil mixed with camphor water and pāṭali root.
पिष्ट्वा लिप्य पदे द्वे च चरेदङ्गारके नरः । तृणौत्थानादिकं व्यूह्य दर्शयन्वै कुतूहलं ।। २८३.
After grinding, apply to two spots on the body and move about on hot coals; arranging grass and other things, one may display wonders out of curiosity.
विषग्रहरुजध्वंसक्षुद्रनर्म्म च कामिकं । तत्ते षट्कर्म्मकं प्रोक्तं सिद्धिद्वयसमाश्रयं ।। २८३.
It destroys poison, planetary afflictions, pain, and minor ailments, and fulfills desires; this is called the sixfold practice, the source of two kinds of success.
मन्त्रध्यानौषधिकथामुद्रेज्या यत्र मुष्टयः । चतुर्व्वर्गफलं प्रोक्तं यः पठेत्स दिवं व्रजेत् ।। २८३.
Where there are mantras, meditation, medicine, mudrā, worship, and offerings, the fruit of the four aims of life is declared; whoever recites this attains heaven.
धन्वन्तरिरुवाच आयुरारोग्यकर्तार ओंकारद्याश्च नाकदाः । ओंकारः परमो मन्त्रस्तं जप्त्वा चामरो भवेत् ।। २८४.
Dhanvantari said: The creators of life and health, and the givers of heaven, beginning with Oṃkāra; Oṃkāra is the supreme mantra—by reciting it, one becomes immortal.
गायत्री परमो मन्त्रस्तं जप्त्वा भुक्तिमुक्तिभाक् । ओं नमो नारायणाय मन्त्रः सर्वार्थसाधकः ।। २८४.
Gāyatrī is the supreme mantra—by reciting it, one attains enjoyment and liberation; the mantra 'Oṃ namo Nārāyaṇāya' accomplishes all aims.
ओं नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय सर्वदः । ओं ह्रूँ नमो विष्णवे मन्त्रोयञ्चौषधं परं ।। २८४.
'Oṃ namo bhagavate Vāsudevāya' grants everything; 'Oṃ hrūṃ namo Viṣṇave' is a mantra and also the supreme medicine.
अनेन देवा ह्यसुराः सश्रियो निरुजोऽभवन् । भूतानामुपकारश्च तथा धर्मो महौषधम् ।। २८४.
By this, the gods and asuras, along with their wealth, became free from disease; likewise, it benefits beings and is the great medicine of dharma.
धर्म्मः सद्धर्म्मकृद्धर्मी एतैर्धर्म्मैश्च निर्म्मलः । श्रीदः श्रीशः श्रीनिवासः श्रीधरः श्रीनिकेतनः ।। २८४.
Dharma is the doer of true dharma, and by these dharmas one becomes pure; the giver of prosperity, lord of prosperity, abode of prosperity, bearer of prosperity, and dwelling of prosperity.
श्रियः पतिः श्रीपरम् एतैः श्रियमवाप्नुयात् । कामी कामप्रदः कामः कामपालस्तथा हरिः ।। २८४.
He is the lord of prosperity, the supreme prosperity; by these, one attains prosperity. The desirer is the giver of desires, the desire itself, the protector of desires, and also Hari.
आनन्दो माधवश्चैव नाम कामाय वै हरेः । रामः परशुरामश्च नृसिंहो विष्णुरेव च ।। २८४.
Ānanda and Mādhava are names of Hari for the fulfillment of desire; Rāma, Paraśurāma, Nṛsiṃha, and Viṣṇu as well.
त्रिविक्रमश्च नामानि जप्तव्यानि जिगीषुभिः । विद्यामभ्यस्यतां नित्यं जप्तव्यः पुरुषोत्तमः ।। २८४.
Trivikrama and other names are to be recited by those who seek victory; one who studies knowledge should always recite Puruṣottama.
दामोदरो बन्धहरः पुष्कराक्षोऽक्षिरोगनुत् । हृषीकेशो भयहरो जपेदौषधकर्म्मणि ।। २८४.
Dāmodara, the remover of bondage, Puṣkarākṣa, the healer of eye diseases, Hṛṣīkeśa, the remover of fear—these should be recited during medicinal rites.
अच्युतञ्चामृतं मन्त्रं सङ्ग्रामे चापराजितः । जलतारे नारसिंहं पूर्व्वादौ क्षेमकामवान् ।। २८४.
Acyuta, the immortal mantra, and Aparājita in battle; Nārasiṃha when crossing water, and for safety at the beginning of any undertaking.
चक्रिणङ्गदिनञ्चैव शार्ङ्गिणं खड्गिनं स्मरेत् । नारायणं सर्वकाले नृसिंहोऽखिलभीतिनुत् ।। २८४.
One should remember Cakrin, Gadī, Śārṅgin, and Khaḍgin; Nārāyaṇa at all times, and Nṛsiṃha, the remover of all fears.
गरुडध्वजश्च विषहृत् वासुदेवं सदा जपेत् । धान्यादिस्थापने स्वप्ने अनन्ताच्युतमीरयेत् ।। २८४.
Garuḍadhvaja, the remover of poison, and Vāsudeva should always be recited; for establishing grains and such, or in dreams, one should invoke Ananta and Acyuta.
नारायणञ्च दुःस्वप्ने दाहादौ जलशायिनं । हयग्रीवञ्च विद्यार्थी जगत्सृतिं सुताप्तये ।। २८४.
Nārāyaṇa in bad dreams, Jalaśāyin during burning or fire, Hayagrīva for one seeking knowledge, and Jagatsṛti for the birth of a son.
बलभद्रं शौर्यकार्य्ये एकं नामार्थसाधकम् ।। २८४.
Balabhadra, for acts of valor, and a single name that accomplishes the desired aim.
धन्वन्तरिरुवाच सिद्धयोगान् पुनर्वक्ष्ये मृतसञ्जीवनीकरान् । आत्रेयभाषितान् दिव्यान् सर्वव्याधिविमर्दनान् ।। २८५.
Dhanvantari said: I will again declare the accomplished yogic practices that restore life to the dead, the divine ones spoken by Ātreya, which destroy all diseases.
आत्रेय उवाच विल्वादिपञ्चमूलस्य क्काथः स्याद्वातिके ज्वरे । पावनं पिप्पलीमूलं गुडूची विष्वजोऽथ वा ।। २८५.
Ātreya said: The decoction of Bilva and the other five roots is suitable in vāta-type fever; the root of Pippalī is purifying, as is Guḍūcī or Viṣvaja.
आमलक्यभ्या कृष्णा वह्निः सर्वज्वरान्तकः । विल्वाग्निमन्थश्योनाककाश्मर्य्यः पारला स्थिरा ।। २८५.
Āmalakī and Kṛṣṇā, with fire, are the end of all fevers; Bilva, Agnimantha, Śyonāka, Kāśmarya, Pāralā, and Sthirā.
त्रिकण्टकं पृश्निपर्णी वृहती कण्टकारिकाः । ज्वराविपाकपार्श्वार्त्तिकाशनुत् कुशमृलकम् ।। २८५.
Trikaṇṭaka, Pṛśniparṇī, Vṛhatī, and Kaṇṭakārikā remove fever, indigestion, and side pains, along with Kuśamṛlaka.
गुडूची पर्पटी मुस्तं किरातं विश्वभेषजम् । वातपित्तज्वरे देयं पञ्चभद्रमिदं स्मृतम् ।। २८५.
Guḍūcī, Parpaṭī, Musta, Kirāta, and Viśvabheṣaja—these are to be given in vāta-pitta fever, and are known as the five auspicious ones.
त्रिवृद्विशालकटुकात्रिफलारग्बधैः कृतः । संस्कारो भेदनक्काथः पेथः सर्वज्वरापहः ।। २८५.
A preparation made with Trivṛt, Viśāla, Kaṭukā, Triphalā, and Aragvadha is a purgative decoction, and is said to remove all fevers.
